Happy rider - happy Tess šŸ˜Š

**Warning itā€™s a long one!**

I have been having such a difficult time of it lately in my personal life and with Peaches. She is far from an easy horse, hates winter, very opinionated , often naughty when riding and nothing like Iā€™ve ever had before and recently it has been getting me down big time that I have lost the love of riding and everything horsey to the point Iā€™ve been trying to make some big decisions about mine and peaches future together.

But I have chatted to a few very good people in my life, plus an equine communicator and Iā€™ve decided to give it one last shot with her starting today with a flatwork lesson with the incredible who I just love. And actually we had a really good lesson which I think has helped me to make my decision to try again this year and really try to get peaches on my side for once.

Iā€™ve never wanted to give up but peaches makes it very hard not too but I absolutely love her with all my heart and wish she could see that šŸ„°

Now itā€™s time to try and make a planā€¦ā€¦where the hell do I start????

Iā€™ve really enjoyed helping this fabulous combination recently with the bits between the jumps - ie his canter and working towards the flying changes. Itā€™s made me think differently about how to teach them as Charlotte doesnā€™t need a perfect dressage arena change but she does need him to get from one leg to the other in balance and on her aids. Think itā€™s been good for both of us to look at things from each others world!

It's that time of year again where I like to have a look back at the year (as a record for myself really). So here goes!

Jerry and I have spent the year trying to get our heads around the more advanced work at home and competing at Medium and Advanced Medium. With a win at Ad Med at the Area Festival in February in only his 5th test at the level we headed to the National final at Hartpury but in reality he wasn't really ready for it and his confidence took a knock. We came 5th at the regionals at Medium and unfortunately missed the summer AF due to the heat for Jerry and a dose of covid for me. However he finished the season much more confident and we represented the South West and England at the Home International without disgracing ourselves. We head to the regionals at Chard in Feb and then hopefully will brave our first Advanced eeeek!!

Big thanks as always to everyone who helps me and Jerry do our thing, Christian, Lizzie, Hannah, Jo, Naomi, Tessa, James, Jodie, Joe and all at Rosevean.

I have really enjoyed teaching clinics at some new locations in Merrivale Arena and Charleston Dressage as well as continuing in all my freelance spots. I love working with you all and seeing you and your horses make progress. It honestly brings me as much pleasure as training my own horses.

At home it was really sad to wave Jodie and family off to Wales who had been at livery with me for 4 years. However the stables only stayed empty for a few hours and I remain so lucky with the lovely bunch of people and their slightly neurotic horses who seem to fit in so well here. They donā€™t throw a bad wedding either!

Last but not least I'm sure you all would like a Leggy update - he continues to live his best life keeping us all in line and intends to live until he is 53!!!

Regionals Update! A respectable 67.07 for 5th in the medium silver. Jerry really lacks confidence in the arena and even more so at the bigger shows. He was very tense going into the arena so it wasnā€™t quite the test I hoped to ride, however it was just about a clear round. There were some good marks & positive comments from the judges. Big thanks to everyone who helped me to get there and to Bicton Arena for another lovely show.

All ready for his first regionals this weekend. Well as ready as he will ever be! Wish us luck šŸ€šŸ¤žšŸ¤ž

Our first solo dressage trip didnā€™t disappoint. šŸ¤©

Today we headed to Colraine Equestrian Centre to get our last prelim silver British Dressage Area Festival scores.

Prelim 19 is a test I know inside out, so perfect for our first dressage show flying solo as I didnā€™t need to worry about the actual test itself.

Today was about testing out the one test theory again and just concentrating on riding him. We achieved 68.12% which Iā€™m delighted with. Our scores are actually going up now and more consistent which Iā€™m so pleased with. The training with Tess Wilson Dressage is massively paying off and working along side KLB Equine Sports Massage Sisco and I are improving as a partnership.

P.s- how much do you love this photo that Colraine Capture snapped a few weeks ago? Something a little different eh?

Thanks to Becky King for keeping me company up therešŸ„°
