This half term week we learned a little about the forthcoming G7 summit and what it meant to the children. We carried out an experiment in which we planted fruit refuse in one pot and a fruit shoot plastic bottle in another, and in a years time we shall dig it up to see what has happened. One little one hopes that the bottle might grow… I fear he may be disappointed but I might just be wrong!
In addition we collected up all of the lunchtime refuse for 3 days to see how much of it was plastic, foil or cardboard… it’s surprising just how much we collected! Could we change our eating habits from seeing this? Do we need to wrap up sandwiches? Could we pour yoghurt into a reusable container? Crisps from a large bag into a reusable container? The possibilities are endless.
And lastly we created two seasides in a jam jar - one of beauty and one of refuse… which ocean do our children want to see?!
All thought provoking- and from a child’s view….
