Congratulations to the NFU Cymru and Wynnstay AgricultureSustainable Agriculture Award 2024 Winners! 🎉

The award recognises exceptional commitment to Wales's economic, environmental, social, and cultural health.

Glasnant and Linda Morgan, accompanied by their son Huw and daughter-in-law Claire, were honored as this year's recipients at the NFU Cymru conference yesterday. They were presented with a £500 prize and a Welsh slate engraved barometer.

They were awarded the prize by the competition judges, Hedd Pugh, Rural Affairs Board Chair for NFU Cymru and Bryn Hughes, Head of Sheep & Beef at Wynnstay.

Dairy Market Update: Arla's Price Hike Sparks Industry Debate 📈

Arla's recent price increase of over 2.5p to 45.72p per litre has put pressure on other processors. While some like Barbers, First Milk, and Lactalis have followed suit, others such as Muller, Yew Tree, and Saputo have held their prices.

Commodity prices, particularly butter and mozzarella, have fluctuated. While there's been some stabilization, concerns remain about potential price reductions in early 2025 due to increasing volumes.

Meet Calf & Youngstock Senior & Technical Specialist, Jess Yeomans 👋

Jess joined Wynnstay as a Calf Specialist in January 2017, after teaching Agriculture at Walford College and working as a Veterinary Technician specializing in embryo transfer at a large Shropshire veterinary practice. She earned a BSc in Animal Health from Harper Adams University, where she also worked as a herdsman and calf rearer during her placement year.

Now living on a 400-cow spring calving dairy unit in Shropshire with her husband and three boys, Jess focuses on calf health and productivity. She covers Shropshire, providing expert advice to farmers and promoting sales of milk powders, calf feeds, calf machines, and other related products alongside feed and animal health staff.

Many horses find fireworks and bonfires to be scary and upsetting. Here are some tips to help make Bonfire Night less stressful for your horse:

- Keep your horse's routine as normal as possible. This will help them to feel more secure.
- Provide them with plenty of food and water. This will help to keep them calm and relaxed.
- Create a calm environment for your horse. If possible, bring them inside or put them in a stable that is away from the noise of the fireworks.
- Use calming products: There are a number of products available that can help to calm horses down. These include supplements, sprays, and spot-on treatments.

By following these tips, you can help your horse to have a safe and enjoyable Bonfire Night.
