👀 PLEASE WATCH 'Brian May: The Badgers, the Farmers and Me' on BBC Two at 9pm on Friday, 23 August.

We were invited to a preview screening, and we say,
"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Don't miss it"

Brian May says his new badger cull documentary "will outrage viewers more than anything since the Post Office scandal." We agree.

The documentary also features our 2024 Symposium speaker, large mammal vet Dick Sibley, whose insights are measured and thought-provoking.

We hope farmers will watch it, too. The documentary will reveal how far the government and its agencies *actually* support farmers in finding effective solutions to the bTB crisis.

The documentary will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer from next Friday, too.

We are very upset to announce that our lovely Jo sadly passed away after a short battle with cancer.
Jo was a client for many years before she joined our team.
Animals and wildlife were a huge love of hers.
She will be greatly missed and we were lucky to have been part of her life. 💔
May she rest in peace 🕊️

🐾 ☀️We're excited to announce that Patrick, Freya, and Ellie will be heading to Cape Verde this April to conduct a crucial neutering campaign for the dogs and cats of Sal, Cape Verde! ☀️🐾

We're teaming up with the charity 'The voice of forgotten dogs of Sal, Cape Verde' to improve the welfare of animals on the island. Since 2020, the charity has been working tirelessly to control the population and provide essential care to these forgotten animals.

Every donation, no matter the size, will make a huge impact in helping us provide much-needed supplies and support to this deserving cause. Together, we can make a difference to the lives of these less fortunate animals!

HAPPY NEW YEAR from all of us at Pet Relief!!

Unfortunately 2024 is already tinged with heartbreak for Paul and I as 2 weeks ago, a tumour was detected on our gorgeous Percy’s liver. 😭 Ironically this appears to be separate to his thyroid tumour (which was diagnosed a year ago). We are obviously devastated. 💔

But at least we now get to make the most of these last few weeks (hopefully months 🤞🤞) with him and make these moments extra special. Some owners do not get this luxury.

So we hope 2024 is a very happy and healthy one for you and your fur babies.
Now go and give your gorgeous pet a big hug and kiss and treasure every moment 😘🥰

Batty has settled into his new home and now enjoys attacking his new owner’s feet. 😆
I would just like to mention 2 amazing charities in Cape Verde- OSPA Supporters Cats and Dogs Of Sal & The Voice for the Forgotten Dogs of Sal Cape Verde. Registered Charity. Both do incredible work in Sal looking after all the stray cats and dogs. They work so hard for the animals that wouldn’t otherwise get help.
Ospa have many dogs in their kennels and Birthe Leysen works so hard to make sure they are loved as well and get to play out of their kennels.
The Voice for the Forgotten Dogs are currently trying to neuter as many dogs and cats as possible on the island - the strays and the locals pets. Local pets are mainly left out in the streets so can still mate. A huge thank you as well to Angela Walker who ensured that my friend’s cat with a broken jaw was treated and looked after. The cat would have died without this.
Both charities have huge expenses so if anyone has any money to spare, they would really appreciate any donations. Thank you. 🙏

Batty - Happy ending 🥰
So the best thing happened. I got back to the apartment block last night and saw this note stuck to the outside of the block. I texted the person this morning and got this reply - “I found the kitten on the street near pirata, it was lost and scared. I played with it and it followed me to my home in moradias. I wanted to bring it inside my apartment but it was too scared to come close. So I gave it milk and water and food and played with it every morning and every evening after work. Slowly by slowly it gained more confidence and came closer ❤️ on Wednesday we played a lot and I thought Thursday was the right day to bring it home. But on Thursday I came back from work and they told me that it had been adopted by someone else because they didn’t know my intentions to bring it home…”

She is a lovely lady called Luna and she was so happy when I told her that she could keep him. And what is even better is that she lives in the same apartment block, which is enclosed with a pool and gardens. So he will be safe.
I took him round to hers and she will keep me updated on his progress.
Going to miss something sleeping in my hair all night and mulching my head 😆 but I’m so pleased that he has a good home now. 💗💗

Batty - day 4
The good news is that a foster home has been found thanks to Birthe Leysen from OSPA Supporters Cats and Dogs Of Sal. The bad news is that I’m going to miss him. He gets more confident daily.
He now wants to sleep touching me. And follows me when I leave the room. It’s incredible how much he’s changed in 4 days. 😍

Batty - Day 3.
Think I should have called him “chatty” not batty.
He is changing so much every day. Starting playing today for the first time. Woke me at 5am mulching my hair and purring in my ear.
Instead of running away, he’s started following me.
And he doesn’t stop talking!!
Wish I could bring the little runt home 😍😆

Batty - day 2
Huge progress.
He still runs if I get too close but once I catch him, he loves a fuss. Although, still ready to run away at the slightest thing.
Likes being near me now. 💗

Batty - day 1
Found this little one by a restaurant in Santa Maria, Cape Verde. Very timid and underweight. ☹️
With the help of a waitress I caught him and he’s now hanging out with me in my apartment.
Started calling him Batty cos of his bat face and unfortunately it’s now stuck 😆
First day (yesterday) he slept for about 9 hours on the sofa - only getting up to eat.
Wouldn’t be in the same room with me and would run under the bed when I went in.
Several meals later and grabbing him at every opportunity for a cuddle, and at 5am this morning (he woke me up 🙄) I finally got him purring.
Hoping to find a home or foster before I leave on Tuesday. 🤞🤞
