The six month countdown has started! Are your feline friends ready? 👀🐈

From 10 June 2024, it’s going to be a legal requirement for all cats to be microchipped in England 😸 This will ensure any lost, stolen, or injured cats have the best chance of being reunited with their owners as quickly as possible.

All cats must be implanted with a microchip before they reach the age of 20 weeks, and owners will be given just 21 days to get their feline friend chipped or face a fine of up to £500 ❗

Unfortunately, horse riders and carriage drivers don’t always have a choice when it comes to riding on the road, and it is the responsibility of us all to keep every type of road user safe.

Some final tips from the British Horse Society on safely passing horses:
• If a rider or carriage driver is signalling to turn, wait patiently for them to complete their manoeuvre before continuing your journey.
• If the horse(s) show signs of nervousness as you get closer, please stop and/or turn the engine off and allow them to pass. Please don’t start your engine or move off again until the horse(s) is clear of the rear end of the vehicle.
• The safest place for the rider’s hands is on the reins, so they may only be able to nod their thanks to you – but please do be assured that they will be very grateful for your consideration.

We stand together with The British Horse Society to keep all road users safe, including horses, riders, and motorists.

Did you know November is ? 💜

Epilepsy is a common cause of seizures in dogs between six months and six years old. A seizure is a period of uncontrolled body movements due to abnormal electrical activity in the brain, which can be very scary, especially if it's the first time you've seen one 😥

Epilepsy can't be cured, and we’re still not sure what causes some pets to have it and not others. But, the good news is that it can usually be managed with regular check-ups and medication 🏥👩‍⚕️

With children and pets spending more time together over the summer holidays, it's super important to watch dogs closely and listen to their body language to tell if they're starting to feel uncomfortable ⚠️🐶

Dogs' stress signals often get misunderstood or missed, with some owners not realising their dog is unhappy until they growl, snap or even bite 😟

The canine ladder of communication is a useful guide, showing the different signals dogs show through their body language to communicate. As a dog gets more upset, their body language may change according to the steps on the ladder.

It’s important to note that all dogs are different - not every dog will show every behaviour on the ladder and might not follow the specific order.
