Southbank Equestrian Centre
Didi Wood, who owns and runs Southbank Equestrian Centre, is a natural horsemanship specialist. She prefers the phrase Sensitive Horsemanship and founded the Sensitive Horsemanship organisation after encountering so many unhappy horses, but also so many unhappy people.
Didi's autism gives her a unique and highly instinctual insight into horse psychology. That, and the fact she has spent many years studying human psychology too (to help her survive in a non-autistic world), gives her a special ability to interact with both horses and humans. She is also a scientist versed in many philosophies of equitation and equine care - both classical and natural - and is constantly studying to learn more.
All this means she has a large "tool kit" to draw upon, to help horses and people build a better understanding of one another and develop a deeper relationship as a result. Her ambition is to help people become "Sensitive Horsemen": sensitive in how they handle and care for their horses, and sensitive in how they interact with other people, leading to Happy Horses, Happy Humans - Southbank Equestrian Centre's motto.
Didi offers training and courses but also has a separate website devoted to the subject of Sensitive Horsemanship.
