What a week… 🤩
4️⃣Horses sold …

1️⃣- Flying Colum sold within 2 days of advertising!

2️⃣- AreYouWithUs, was snapped up by a client who came just to look for a livery space and ended up leaving with a livery space and her new pony.

3️⃣- Kingsriver Kassanova, was sold in 3 days and was picked up early hours to start his journey to Denmark.

4️⃣ Point Franklin who we all knew was just something special is already flicking his toes around the white boards.

We also said a short fair well to little Pip who came for her second boot camp, she will now go on another holiday before being advertised as a 5 year old (she’s still a yard favourite 🤩🐴💕)
Her stable mate Spider came to get his MOJO back and dam did he find it after meeting his new friends… the hounds 🐕🐶, he’s headed back home to carry on being the legend that he is.

We then managed to pop to Ireland for 48 hours to get stuck in to the RDS Dublin Horse Show 🇮🇪🥂🍾 before heading back home ready to meet our new arrivals that are on their way over. We then also have a very cute 14.2 pony arriving in on sales livery this week. ☺️

Busy busy busy, but hey… we love it. 🇮🇪🐴

Done lots of hacking, ridden by everyone - from my self, to my 56 year old friend who struggles with her confidence, to a friend who borrowed him to take on hound exercise. Would try his best to tolerate a “fresh out the riding school rider” but would prefer him to go to someone with a little bit more knowledge. Can leave him months and get straight on him. Can have a good look around carry his head high, but has never, span, bucked, reared since being with us. In my opinion he’s very safe but not a plod has something about him. Will make a nice little horse in the future. Still raw in his retraining but has been exposed and tried in lots of different situations since being with us.

Everyone who’s ridden him is happy to provide references.

I’m not allowed favourites but this horse has my full heart! Please someone let me keep him. He is what BFG stand for!

I just adore him, so much fun, kind, moves to die for, jumps, stands at meets, hacks along and in company, you can drive the biggest of tractors by him and he doesn’t care ( I should know I was on him) easy to do everything and anything with and is just beautiful!

He does winduck at feed time, but I would rather a horse do that and keep me safe any day of the week then be vice free and feed me sand ever other day. Can be left for months and just jump straight in and go. Colin we love you!

Romeo… where to start….

If you love a big grey, that jumps and gallops, and you’re not on a big budget, then this the the horse for you. I’ve owned this horse for many years after buying him from the breeder in Ireland and I know him inside out back to front. Before I ramble on too much, this boy loves to jump and gallop, he is not a happy hack/ fun rides kind of horse, or he can be, as long as you like the feeling of a competition horse under you. He is offered at a fraction of his true worth due to having a spinal ligament snip last year and has had his back medicated.

He’s a XC machine and has evented in many Cotswold cup classes and produced a double clear in Bicton BE 5 year old class. He’s won many 1.05 classes, 1.10 classes, he has jumped around 2 x 1.20 classes all unaffiliated and has won Discovery BSJ. He’s hunted on two separate occasions with the Ledbury and once with the Ross Harriers.

Romeo started to loose his spark in July last year and after some investigating we found he had 1 close spinal process. He has had the ligament snip surgery and has finished his rehab. He’s in full work, back up and jumping, but I have decided to find him a new home, as during his rehab time the yard got very busy and I feel he’s been put on the back burner. He will only go to someone who is capable of managing him and will love him as much as we do. He’s such a character and makes everyone laugh.

Bad bits…

He will spook out hacking… ( ask him to jump a hedge no problem, but he will let you know if a blade of grass has changed colour when hacking 🙄) however , you will always go forward, not backward, he’s no different in company or alone. I hack him alone all the time.

He will throw buckets and lead ropes around the yard for your attention.

He will just about tolerate dressage but he gives you no special feeling🙈he does have all his lateral work and flying changes, but he is no dressage horse.

He is strong XC and to jump ✈️🚀

He’s fussy in the mouth and can be sharp off the leg. Quiet rider.

But he will jump anything!

I would love to see him either back showjumping, but not with someone’s who going to worry about his unique way of going, just someone who loves to feel they have wings over a big fence.

I have hunted him with the Ledbury so he would go hunting but he was strong

Team chasing he would lead or go last!

Equally he is the best XC horse I have sat on and if he could sort his flat work out he would be a brilliant event horse.

He will turn out alone or with others, good to shoe, box, clip etc etc he’s a total Labrador to look after.

We were back out with some other liveries to Howick to school around the BE course they had still set up from the weekend. Video of 5 year old off the track thoroughbred Point Franklin who jumped around the BE90 course. Hard to think he’s only been XC once before. It was lovely to feel him learn and to feel him grow in confidence as he went around. He is on the market for a new home. 🏡

Sometimes they just know…💕

I can’t thank this horse enough for his performance today. After everything we have been through over the last month as a family ( Amanda Nicholson Paul Nicholson Rose Nicholson) with mum being diagnosed with the C word (which we will kick in the ass together, I can promise you that! 💥) I can honesty say I have no shame in saying I had tears in my eyes all day today. This little horse had his second event at Swalcliffe in his first 100 and he was just pure class jumping a bold double clear for another to 10 placing 🚀🧨 Cindy Harrington . This horse knew something, he tried beyond his power to keep a smile on my face all day and I can’t thank him enough for that. He is such a character and is loved by so many people in the yard we are so lucky to have horses with hearts as big as his and the biggest of fires in their bellies. Roll on the rest of the season with some great horses and Mum! it won’t be long till we are double checking we have got the right numbers and learnt the right dressage test! Pip is looking for a new 🏡

Nicely put together little blood horse with all the breeding to make a future star.

We have known pip for a long time now, coming to us in her 3 year old year to be backed she then went back home to grow and have a think about life. She has been back in around 2/3 months now, has done plenty of hacking around the lanes and up into the woods seeing all kinds of big machines and traffic. She is very level headed with her hacking and nothing phases her. She has started her schooling in the arena showing to have a good mouth, carries her self well with a responsive ride. She has 3 big paces that she will grow into as well as her eye catching looks she’s sure to catch the eye of a judge in the dressage area. She has had the best start to her future life and has not been pushed or over produced in any way. Her owners are very keen to see her in a professional home where she will have a proper job and a chance to have a shot at reaching the top.

Both youngsters can now be classed as official event horses 🤩Delighted with how these two performed today. Double clear and top 10 for both on their eventing debut 🏆🙌 It goes without saying that we are all thinking of a very special someone when we all leave the start box 🤍💜🕊️ but we are all so lucky to be connected by a sport that brings endless love in all different ways, a love that touches each one of us differently.

A comment I hear way too often “I don’t want a thoroughbred”

Everyone will know that I’m not the kind of girl who wants to hear that…

And this is why ..
This five year old arrived in just over a month ago, we rode him in the school for the first week since then he’s been out in the field having some downtime. This video shows his first time back in the arena since his break, no lunging beforehand, straight back on and has never seen a coloured pole before… how many young horses are capable of doing this….

Now my question back to you… why would you not want to thoroughbred? 🥰🐎 he’s on the market for his new home but you will have to fight me for him 💁‍♀️

Love sending owners updates. George was sent in couple of weeks ago as a very nervous lad who was tricky to get on and hadn’t been in work for 3 years.

2 weeks in and we can now get on from a mounting block and hacking out happy as Larry. Something he hasn’t been able to do for years. So nice to meet our owners wishes 🥰

Two very different and green horses taking to the grass for a Cross Country school before they head to their first event at Solihull at the start of June. The two couldn’t be any more different if they tried but both looking to be promising candidates for the season ahead. I’ve received a lot of messages recently asking if I will start doing freelance riding and start my lessons again. With the yard being so busy I would prefer for clients to travel to our base in Ross On Wye if possible. Very smart horse with lots of presence . Carries him self well and has started to work really nicely in the arena. Woukd be a lovely happy hack/ dressage prospect. He hacks alone and in company will go first or last and Isn’t silly going behind or Infront. Raced on the flat so has been working on his jumping, he has been out in the lorry cross country schooling and didn’t get stressy or heated up. No vices, he does have a skin scar on his left fore.

First time cross country schooling for 3 of our Retraining Of Racehorses. Star of the day was 4 year old Ernie who’s only been jumping under saddle a few weeks, he headed to Oxstalls for his first time Cross Country schooling. He’s such a cool little 4 year old who only ran on the flat less than a month ago. 🙌❤️⭐️ so lucky to have found a few people to buy into him so hopefully we can enjoy his journey as he heads into his new career.

Imagine having a horse this trainable…..

Ex racer 4 year old Ernie came in earlier this week having ran only a few days before…

Fields are wet, so limited turnout this week which means he’s mainly been stabled…

I’ve been so busy this week getting horses ready for viewings/ shows etc. I haven’t had the chance to sit on him yet.
I get back from a show today and Amanda Nicholson in true style says you best get on the 4 year old (only because he’s her favourite!)

Tack on, got on, go for a hack, see all kinds of traffic and doesn’t care at all. Not even a jog...

Go in the arena where he’s never been before, walk trot and canter trying to accept the bit and work round… now this is when people say… yeah right bet she’s been riding him all week…

No no… he then goes and jumps all his fences like he’s been doing it all his life.

💁‍♀️”Ernie are you feeling ok?”

🐴”Yes, I just didn’t like being a flat horse, this jumping malarkey is rather fun!”

💁‍♀️”Ok… have you done this before?

🐴Nope never seen a jump in my life.”

A good day at the office today. 2 horses sold and head to their new homes over the next few days followed by Sully owned by going out for a little jump to come home with a 3rd in the 105. Thank you to Alex Harris Horses for taking him. This horse is looking for a new home and I think a lot of him so someone will be very lucky to have him. He is also a XC machine with tones of gallop. X-rays available also. 🙌
