When you sign up to our Level 2 City & Guilds course you will receive an equipment pack which includes:
~ 2 pairs of scissors
~ nail clippers
~ tub of Quickstop
~ comb
~ slicker brush.

You will also receive a comprehensive study book "What Every Professional Groomer Should Know" and be enrolled on a Canine First Aid Course.

All of this is included in the price of your Level 2 course!

Teddy came in for a hand strip recently, doesn't he look so handsome! Hand stripping is a grooming technique used for wire-haired dog breeds such as terriers and silk coat breeds such as spaniels. The guard hairs are removed by hand or with specialised stripping tools. Hand stripping helps maintain the coat's natural texture, colour and condition. You will learn the skill of hand stripping on our Level 3 City & Guilds course.

We're busy in the Academy getting ready for all the Christmas bookings which start next week. The Christmas scented shampoos and perfumes have arrived (Cinnamon Musk, Vanilla Frost and Christmas Candy) from The Pawdinary, so have the Christmas bows from FaBOWlous Dogs and we have a brand new sparkly Christmas backdrop! 🎄❄️

That's a wrap on our Groom Your Own Dog at Home days for this year! Colette attended with her Shih Tzu Rolo and Helen with her Sprocker Pip. The day was a great success and both participants and their dogs went home happy 😊

October is the month of National Animal Safety and Protection.

We take our dogs' safety very seriously at Bonny Dogs, and on all of our courses you will learn the best practices for keeping dogs safe and happy during their grooms. And all our City & Guilds courses also include a 10 hour on-line accredited Dog First Aid course covering everything from carrying out CPR to how to recognise signs of pain.

Rosie also did a lovely job clipping his body and sc******ng those cute teddy bear feet! Well done Rosie for doing such a fab job on Max, and well done Max for being such a good boy! 🌟

Hand stripping is a technique used on wire haired and rough coated breeds to remove dead outer coat revealing the beautiful new coat growth underneath. Handstripping maintains the wirey texture and rich colour of the coat and when done correctly should not be painful for the dog. Not all dogs are suitable for hand stripping though. Things which can affect the decision... Is the dog neutered? Has he been clipped in the past? Are they tolerant of the procedure? Our most popular breed in the salon which is handstripped is the Border Terrier! Hand stripping is a specialist skill in dog grooming and is included on our Level 3 City & Guilds course.
