Hand stripping is a technique used on wire haired and rough coated breeds to remove dead outer coat revealing the beautiful new coat growth underneath.
Handstripping maintains the wirey texture and rich colour of the coat and when done correctly should not be painful for the dog.
Not all dogs are suitable for hand stripping though. Things which can affect the decision... Is the dog neutered? Has he been clipped in the past? Are they tolerant of the procedure?
Our most popular breed in the salon which is handstripped is the Border Terrier!
