Percy came in to see us a little while ago for a health check and he was microchipped too. He had a clean bill of health and it sounds like he’s look after brilliantly at home too! 😄
This means if he were ever to escape and then find himself in a rescue or vet practice he could be scanned for a unique number and reunited with his owners 😊
In the video he’s having some reassurance after his brief anaesthetic to place the microchip 🥰
Bella was one of our emergency patients yesterday 🤕 her owners had noticed she wasn’t herself and she had started vomiting 🤮
An examination by nurse Becky and Vet Elliot revealed a hard object in her abdomen and investigation and then surgery was advised.
Elliot and nurse Anna then performed an emergency surgery and discovered the cause of the problem - a squeaker!
Bella is such a lovely dog and now just has to take it easy and recover from her surgery 🤞😊 thank you to her lovely owners for letting us share her story 🙏
Official cutest patient of the week is Sweetpea 🥰 She came in with a painful abscess on her face which was treated by vet Elliot.
In the video she’s cleaning herself up after the procedure - you may notice she only has one front leg. Sweetpea underwent major surgery for an amputation 16 months ago and still uses both her wheels daily - it’s never held her back! 🤩 well done Sweetpea!
It’s lovely to be able to catch a moment in a busy day with patients like Doris 🥰 in this video she is recovering from her spay yesterday.
Doris was recently adopted from RSPCA Herefordshire Branch and is doing so well in her new home 😊
Someone has been on a mission to escape today! Harry the hedgehog is still with us at the practice receiving treatment for his parasite burden 🤕🤒
The lovely Jaws came in for his annual vaccine today and we couldn’t resist giving him a good scratch - he’s such a gent! 😍🥰
One of our wildlife patients this week - slowly getting there but still very small and recovering from a severe parasite infection, he didn’t want his afternoon top up of syringe feed today! 🥰
Our cheekiest patient of the day! This wild jackdaw has a wing fracture and needed his dressing changing today - he wasn’t convinced by our skills and wanted to help 😂🤷♂️
Isn’t it amazing how birds keep themselves so beautiful?
Banksy came in to see vet Elliot for a health check and husbandry discussion, he’s being very well cared for and was very chilled out for the whole consultation ☺️🤩
…Christmas is coming, the toys are being cleaned off…! 🎄
But seriously we actually spend a fair bit of the day cleaning - especially with all our positive visits for patients, it’s important that things like toys get a good disinfecting so we don’t spread infection 👍😄
These are lungworm found in a faecal sample of a young, underweight and dehydrated hedgehog.
🦔If you find a young hedgehog, out in daylight, in colder months, please get it to a rescue or vet asap. Keeping it warm and offering it some wet cat food overnight is great. But these youngsters really do need specialist care.
🦔This little guy needed rehydration, anti-parasitic treatment and assisted feeding. We are keeping everything crossed, but the survival rate for hoglets born late is low. The sooner we can treat them, the better chance they have.
