I just wanted to make people aware, if the temperature is above 22* this can DOUBLE. It takes 6 minutes for a dog to die of heatstroke, as well as cats and for smaller animals it’s only 1/3 of that time. Please look after your furry friends in this hot weather 🐾🐾🐾

📢 Heatwave | Caution Please DO NOT Leave Dogs in Hot Cars!🥵

❗Dogs can die in hot vehicles in less than 6 minutes❗️

With some fabulous weather and increased temperatures later this week please be sure to take good care of all your pets.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR ALL DOG OWNERS❗️| Confirmed case of Alabama Rot in North Herefordshire. 🐶

🔹Please share this post to spread awareness🔹

An unconfirmed report of a case has also been reported near Ross-on-Wye.

From Bromyard Vets:

⚠️ Sadly, we have had a case confirmed through Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists of Alabama Rot ⚠️

The location was near Stoke Lacy, however, this particular case never left their own rural land and for privacy reasons, we cannot state the exact location.

⚠️ What is Alabama Rot?

Alabama rot also know as CRGV, (cutaneous and real glomerular vasculopathy) otherwise known as Alabama Rot is a very rare, potentially life-threatening disease in dogs. Seen mainly in the winter and spring and mainly in dogs walked in muddy areas.

⚠️ How can I prevent my dog from getting it?

Unfortunately, as we do not know the cause yet, research is ongoing . It's tricky to give advice about prevention. However, washing your dog once they have been for a wet/muddy walk may help reduce the risk. There was advice to owners about avoiding certain areas or types of land but the disease is across the UK so unlikely to be helpful.

⚠️ What should I look out for?

Initially open wounds or ulcers that won’t heal; these often appear superficial and minor on the paws and abdomen, but can be the early signs of Alabama Rot. Further development of the disease can cause an increased thirst and urination, then they may stop urinating, start to vomit, develop a “metallic” smelling breath, collapse and suffer seizures (fits).

⚠️ Watch out for and seek help if you notice 👇

👉 Unexpected sores, ulcers, and swellings or areas that won’t heal
👉 unusual tiredness
👉 Increased thirst and urination
👉 Reduced hunger
👉 vomiting

If in doubt, call us on 01885 488822.

It is important to remember that Alabama Rot cases are very rare in the UK. There have been under 300 cases in the last 10 years.

If you think your dog may be showing signs of Alabama Rot, or if you have any concerns about a wound or their health, please get in touch with us immediately!

AWARENESS❗️| To all walkers, If you see a sheep lying on its back with its legs in the air, they can't get up!

🔹Please share to make more people aware!

Please be kind to roll them backwards - if left like this, they can DIE, they can't get up & suffocate, especially this time of year as carrying lambs!

THANK YOU ALL ❤️🐑❤️

It’s not everyday you get two phone calls a week to inform you that one of your best furry friends AND your gecko sadly left us! Me, Esme and her lovely sister Juno had such a blast a few weeks ago, we went on a little adventure everyday, had a lovely cuddle every night and ate lots of treats together. She was the best and sweetest girl, a staffy which is a breed so quickly overlooked but did you know they were actually nanny dogs and protectors until the early 1900, Staffordshire bull terriers are a mix of bulldog and an extinct dog called a white terrier so they really are a piece of living history. Their loving nature is completely unmatched to any breed I’ve ever met, and esme’s was second to none! I’m so grateful to her mum and dad for giving this beautiful rescue such a magical life 💗

And secondly, my rescue gecko Bella, her age was unknown but we’ve had the best three years together, both completely unexpected but grief is just all the leftover love. People often forget that a pet is just an extension of the family so it very hard to loose one.

Too two of my best friends, thank you for letting me know you both 🐾🦎

Thank you to my lovely sits from the other week, we had so much fun ❤️
