Learning about hedgehogs lately, what gorgeous little creatures they are, and how we really can help their survival and safety with little things to help, as said below. X

Remember to keep your visiting hedgehogs safe in your garden 🦔🐾

AS NIGHT TIME FALLS ITS GETTING DARK
I’M OUT FORAGING TO EAT
AND AS I GO FROM HOME TO HOME
THERE ARE DANGERS I HAVE TO MEET

LIKE FALLING IN THE FISH POND
I MAY JUST NOT GET OUT
UNLESS THERE IS A PLACE TO CLIMB
SO PLEASE BEWARE I AM ABOUT

LEAVE ME SOME CAT DRIED BISCUITS
WITH WATER TO QUENCH MY THIRST
AND HOPE THAT OTHER VISITORS
HAVEN’T EATEN ALL IT FIRST

MAKE ME A HEDGEHOG FEEDER
SO I CAN EAT IN PEACE
AND NOT BE JOINED BY FURRY FRIENDS
WHO WANT TO EAT MY CAT FOOD TREAT

MAKE ME A COSY HEDGEHOG HOUSE
SOMEWHERE SAFE DURING THE DAY
SO I CAN REGULARY VISIT YOUR GARDEN
AND I MAY EVEN WANT TO STAY

JUST CUT ME JUST A CD HOLE
IN THE FENCE, UNDER A GATE
SO I CAN TRAVEL EVERYNIGHT
AS I’M OUT QUITE VERY LATE

MAKE SURE IF YOU USE NETTING
YOU KEEP A REAL GOOD HEIGHT
SO I CAN MOVE UNDER SAFELY
AS I WONDER IN THE NIGHT

MAKE SURE YOU COVER HOLES AND DRAINS
WITH MY EYES I DON’T SEE WELL
I USE MY WAY WHEN I’M AROUND
WITH MY EARS AND WITH MY SMELL

AND IF YOU HAVE A COMPOST HEAP
TO GET INSIDE I REALLY LIKE
PLEASE CHECK BEFORE YOU FORK IT
I COULD HAVE STAYED IN THERE THE NIGHT

DON’T LEAVE OUT OPEN RUBBISH BAGS
FOR ME TO CLIMB IN TO HIDE
BECAUSE AS I SLEEP WITHIN THE BAG
YOU WONT KNOW I AM STUCK INSIDE

MAKE YOU GARDEN HEDGEHOG FRIENDLY
IF YOU WANT TO HELP MY PLIGHT
KEEP ME SAFE LOOK AFTER ME
AS I VENTURE OUT EACH NIGHT

Pepsi and Max didn’t have to worry about what would happen to them when their person sadly passed away, because Oldies Club was able to offer them a place together in a wonderful foster home, while we look for a forever home for them. Unfortunately there are other older dogs on our waiting list who may not be so fortunate if we can’t keep the funds coming in, and others who may not even make it onto our waiting list, the way things are at present 💔

🥲❤️ they need financial support

Hi Everyone.
Sunday i had a call from a very distressed lady about a little hog she found on saturday laid on its side in her garden.
She took it straight to a vets,as it was full of flea's and several ticks and didn't look well.
She had the call to say hog was ok and 2 ticks removed,and could go collect it and take it home keep it warm,which she did.
The lady had no idea how to look after her not even how to keep it warm thats why she called me,i am full here but if this little hog wasn't getting any help from a vet then i had to take it.
As soon as the hog arrived i could see straight away she was thin, emaciated,dehydrated underside with lots of small ticks on it and some fleas.
She was pacing high on her legs, her eyes partly closed just said it all I AM SICK HELP.
On checking her faeces today her little body of only 186gs if full of Fluke,Roundworm,Live Lungworm,
How could anyone say she was OK.
Hogs will die from all these internal parasites if left untreated,she may be too far gone now but i will do everything i can for her.
I don't get paid
I don't get a day off
I don't get a holiday.
I don't expect people to pay me to keep a hog here to stay.
I don't expect people to even ask how much do i owe you for giving it a safe place,medication or even paying for the vet bills when i have to take any hog that is handed to me i pay for it.
Donations help me to pay for it,as everything else that is needed to help the hogs, the list is endless.
I do this all in my own time everyday of the year, because i care what happens to our hedgehogs.
