Maya 3yr German Shepherd

Maya is a beautiful, delicate German Shepherd of 30kg. She has the typical astute, inquisitive brain and is very switched on. She learns commands and requests quickly. Maya loves to be with her people, no issues with meeting strangers, she's very busy at the moment as she getting used to being in a home. Maya loves to be outside and she does love a bit of mud! Rain doesn't bother her, she's an outdoorsy kinda girl. She has a grooming requirement and would need regular brushing to rid her of tangles when she's been exploring.

Due to her lack of previous input, walking Maya has been a learning experience for everyone. She is now doing much more calm walking to heal. She does need lots of training with lead walking, she's not rude, she is just excited to be out and about and everything is new to her. She's fine meeting other dogs out but would probably prefer to be the only dog in the home.

She would definitely benefit from a Shepherd experienced home and dog training classes, even just for socialisation and mental stimulation.

Maya is good with food, takes a treat politely and puts herself away in her pen when she's tired. She is a total cuddle bunny, she loves her tennis balls and toys and can play alone happily, she is a bit of hoarder with the toy box!

If you have lots of time to teach her stuff, you won't regret it. This girl will be your best friend. She would excel in an activity that requires her using her brain.

Adult only home. No cats

PROJECT BE SEEN 😍
Porthos, Athos & Aramis all came to GDS after spending 3yrs hidden away in a Perrera. No one saw them. Feltie also came along as he was struggling so much so also got a chance. Feltie and Athos have been adopted and Aramis leaves soon. That just leaves poor Porthos who hasn’t had an interest yet. We can’t leave a frightened musketeer behind so how’s about give him a share. He’s a scared boy that will need other dogs at home and a patient family that understands he will need time. Porthos sadly does urinate when approached quickly and could nip lightly if felt trapped so an understanding on very scared dogs is helpful. Porthos is approx 3yrs old 🥰

Morning. We put a call out recently to see if we could help any galgos or Podencos that had been locked away in perreras for a long time. We’ve had tonnes of messsges about Podencos, they really seem to be forgotten. We’ve also had messages about lots of pods on the streets in an attempt to stop them going to the perreras. The ones already in for years seem to be seen as a lost cause. It’s sad either way when not in loving arms. Why do we want to search for the forgotten? Unless you’ve seen for yourself the decline of a smart dog trapped in a cage for years it’s hard to understand. Our dogs get out a fair few times a day and can still emotionally withdraw (but we have resources to react) so imagine those that receive nothing except the basics to survive. A Dog on the streets gets an instant emotional response and people rush to help and so they should and so we will continue to do so but those looking at four walls day in day out, being bullied by other dogs, giving up on even eating or ever experiencing freedom again are the ones we want to help this time. We can’t forget them. Don’t let them rot away unseen. This is Porthos. He was in a perrera for 3 years since being a pup. He’s so scared he just freezes in hope he won’t put a paw wrong. He’s 3yrs old and looking for a patient home. He doesn’t yet walk on a lead and we have to carry him out of the kennel but already he’s curious about his new routine. Porthos will likely need the home to make huge steps forward as the hustle bustle of kennel life is already extremely negative for him. What do you think? Will you share? Let Porthos be seen…. he’s no longer forgotten ❤️

Buenas. No podemos olvidarlos.

Athos is around 3yrs old and spent his whole life in a Perrera. He’s so scared he looks away in hope that if he can’t see you then you can’t see him. Athos will need an experienced home with other dogs, maybe another Podenco or galgo that can help him along. He mustn’t be pushed too hard and if the adopter gets it right we are sure he will be a fabulous little dog. At the moment he doesn’t leave the kennel but has recently teamed up with Pelusa who we hope will help him ❤️. Please share and let’s find Athos that perfect family that knows how to have invisible goggles on when needed.
