Vet Bashing: A perspective from my desk!
A wonderful client who received awful news last night thanked me for all my help, kind support and said ‘thank god there are people like you who do all that studying to help people like me’.
As a vet I try my best, work incredibly long hours (I gave this news on my weekend off when I should have been at home) and sacrifice time with my family and friends. Most importantly 99% of the people I see appreciate what I do, understand we are not cheap (neither are we expensive) but that providing the best isn’t cheap and genuinely love us for putting their pets first.
The trolls and the sensationalist media stories are just that - cheap shots by people who have not yet been fortunate enough to achieve the happiness in life I have and I hope they find it soon.
In the meantime my advise to vet-staff and clients is to ignore it - work with your vet as a team. We are independent, we know our clients, we love our patients and we love each other as colleagues. As a result we have won awards, accolades and acceditations - that far outweighs a comment here or there in mainstream media based on simple ignorance.
As an independent will continue to work with Vet-Led companies who truly care about pets to deliver a service which only cares for doing the best to help and supporting clients!
