Claire is a Chartered Physiotherapist and Veterinary Physiotherapist based in Wirral. Claire graduated from The University of Teesside in 2003 with a BSc(Hons)in Physiotherapy. Since qualifying Claire has worked in the NHS, BUPA and for Tranmere Rovers Football Club gaining extensive experience in musculoskeletal sports injuries, orthopaedic and neurological conditions. Claire then went on to the
University of the West of England to complete the postgraduate diploma at the University of the West of England in Veterinary Physiotherapy allowing her to transfer her specialist skills to the assessment and treatment of animals. Claire now treats horses and dogs thoughout Wirral and surrounding areas. Claire continues to work in the NHS and private sector in musculoskeletal out patients. She is also able to assess and treat riders in a private setting. Claire has ridden all of her life and competed in showjumping, dressage and eventing with her current horse Maddie an Irish Draft cross. She has always had dogs and currently has a Weimaraner called Molly who is after a quieter life now, but in her earlier years used to try her hand at agility and obedience. Equine
Horses are natural athletes, and versatile enough to perform anything from hacking to grand prix dressage for us, it makes sense that just like humans they can develop aches pains and injuries that can affect their performance. Pain can be visible as behavioural problems, lameness or a change in the animals performance. Canine
A dog is mans best friend whether they are a working dog or a much loved family member. A dogs behaviour can usually tell us something isn`t right, for example not jumping into the car or going up stairs anymore. Common conditions that affect dogs and can cause pain or a change on function are spinal problems, soft tissue injury and osteoarthritis to name a few. Physiotherapy can help with all these conditions and work alongside your vet to get your dog back on track. Orthopaedic surgery is now common in the canine and post operative physiotherapy can help with pain relief, swelling, weight bearing and restoring normal function.
