Can anyone Help Higgles Piggles Rescue by offering space or sharing their post x

Sadly we are looking for a new foster home for two of our beautiful buns who are needing to be moved from their current foster home 🐰🏑

We are looking for someone with a shed space, an outdoor secure enclosure space (no hutches) or a spare room.

They are both up to date with their vaccinations, neutered/spayed and bonded.

If anyone can help. Please get in touch ASAP πŸ™πŸΌ

We would really appreciate it if you could please support us by sharing if you’re not able to foster.

God, I'm really hating this!

Do you remember Ellis? Well, there's no easy way to say this but just a little over an hour ago I was regretfully informed that Ellis had passed away!
Ellis was 1 of the 11 buns we took to help East Coast Pet Rescue at the end of November - he was in the first collection and went into the care of Arthur's owner to foster alongside Enzo. Ellis was the smallest of the 1st bunch we took and had some health concerns when he arrived but within a few weeks he started to get stronger and started to put on weight and over time has been improving. Sadly not entirely knowing where or how he came about questions all his long term health. Sadly Ellis is the result of either poor 'breeding' by a pet shop and the pet shop using a vulnerable person, or the lack of understanding that unneutered rabbits living in dire and freely will only cause more rabbits to exist because they have bred.

I'm so sorry you have been let down by multiple people before you were saved. We all will miss you dearly πŸ’”

Can we all take a moment and realise that we don't do all of this for fun we do it because we care! For every bunny we piece back together, pieces of us break!
We put our heart and soul into every bunny of every case we deal with but just like what the Bunnyjackpot Foundation says there very much is 2 crisis and the 2nd one being our mental health.

I can not put into words the plummet I've seen in mine personally over the past year with the never ending worry, anxiety and loneliness that is felt every single day by all the pressures of what needs to be done. As a 1 woman band who does literally everything from finances, fundraising, arranging vet trips, cleaning, medicating etc it does take its toll! And although I know I somewhat talk about it on the rare occasion I also very much don't and I will just put on that smile with every single interaction I have whether it's over the phone or face-to-face with every type of person you can think of! Even if someone asks if "I'm okay" I can guarantee we won't always say the truth or will avoid to answer at all cost.

The rescue world is facing two crises. One is talked about a lot, one isn’t talked about enough.

Yes, there are too many rabbits for rescues and immense pressure is being put on ethical charities to take on more and more cases of neglected animals every single day.

The second crisis is just as bad and just as impactful: a mental health crisis.

Rescue work is exhausting and pulls on every single resource of person has. Seeing neglect cases, taking non-stop trips to the vet and being put through a never-ending emotional wringer, worrying about finances and fundraising, managing teams of volunteers and dealing with the general public… All of which whilst being unpaid or certainly underpaid.

There is not one single rescue who has not wobbled when it comes to mental health. Rescue workers are continuously put under more pressure than any human should be expected to cope with, with next to no resource for support - not discounting each other, because nobody quite understands rescue unless you’re in it.

Put simply, rescue is traumatising. In day-to-day jobs, including not for profit/charity roles, there are allowances made to make hard work easier on those undertaking it. Therapy, extra time off, work life balance… None of this really exists in the small charity animal rescue world, which is a place rooted in anxiety and burnout.

Rescue work is far from spending your days cuddling adorable animals. Particularly for those running rescues, days are spent pouring over spreadsheets, running finances and budgets, saying countless, countless β€˜no’s to desperate cases.

It is no wonder we are all exhausted, and riddled with anxiety.

So what can YOU do? You can be an ally: be alive to the immeasurable amount of pain and pressure people in rescue are put under. You can offer support, and that doesn’t have to be financial – so that always helps - supporters are one of the reasons rescues continue to do what they can, because supporters make it possible.

I think one of the most impactful ways we can acknowledge this crisis is by talking about it more and recognising how chronically underfunded and unsupported this area of charity work is.

🀍🐰Luna update 🐰🀍
To everyone that helped make Luna's save possible ... this is Luna now 🩷!
3 weeks post spay, vaccinated and being one very cheeky bun in foster!
A massive character, loves a chew, a dig and knows her name! But her life right now could have looked a whole lot different if we wasn't able to help her. Being constantly threatened by high prey driven dogs and was also being threatened to by released into the wild if we didn't intervene 😒 why anyone would put that guilt and pressure onto a rescue is beyond me; not any more so than why would you want to do that to this bundle of fluff that hadn't ever done anything wrong.

UPDATE ***GUS - NOW RESERVED***

Pie & Gus are can be reserved ready for their forever homes while they await their castrations.
Both lads are ready friendly and will happily allow you to stroke and pick them up. Gus is a little more reserved but loves interacting with the other buns. While Pie always thinks you're ready to play and wants to help you with every job that needs to be done 🩡🩡

We can't believe that Hop & Daisy still hasn't had any requests!

Hop and Daisy are ready for their next adventure whether that's together or to join a lonely bun ❀️ They are our longest staying pair currently - who have had months of work put into them to get them ready to now leave for their forever home and I would love to see them settled 🏑
Please message us or email at [email protected] for an adoption form for them

This is Nala - Willow's sister who was introduced to you all earlier- if you've not seen about Willow please follow the link https://www.facebook.com/share/p/12FJf8jFUoG/
Nala came in alongside Willow just 2 Β½ weeks ago and hopped off yesterday with a lovely follower of ours (who we also follow & I just love as she's as passionate about rabbit & guinea pig welfare as we are) to hopefully have a successful bond with a companion - πŸ–€πŸ§‘πŸ°

πŸ‡WillowπŸ‡

I've yet to introduce you all to this sassy girl!
This is Willow! Willow arrived 2 Β½ weeks ago with her sister due to a change of circumstances making intake 5 & 6 for January.
Before they had arrived I'd already been talking to a mutual follower about a companion for her bun who lost his partner and yesterday Willow's sister left to hopefully be bonded to the handsome lonely bun (that I secretly love)
It's been a busy few weeks having to get to know Willow and Willow is one big character, very confident and doesn't take to many. But neutered and vaccinated Willow - ready for adoption - is looking for her forever home with a confident neutered male to hopefully be bonded too

*please note we are still running at full compacity and cannot take on anymore*

🚨***Notice***🚨

On the 1st March I will not be around for the day this means I won't be replying to any messages across all social media platforms or emails that will be sent directly to Hethersett Bunnies. This is so I can spend the day seeing some very much loved family members who live 4 & 6 hrs away and don't get to see very often - the last time being December 2023.
The rescue always comes first meaning I lose out on seeing many milestones with my family and I'm really needing to put this first on this occasion. There will be scheduled posts and the buns will be fine for the day while I'm travelling around to see family. Everything will resume again on the 2nd March once I'm back home πŸ‡πŸ‡

We're taking Bluebelle to the vets on Wednesday to start investigations for a lump that has developed at the base of her ear.
This is a common problem for lopped ear rabbits due to the ear canal being narrowed because of the defect of the cartilage in their ears!
