‼️ Vaccination - Lepto 2 ‼️

Lepto 2 has now been discontinued throughout the whole of the UK meaning this vaccination will now be unavailable for the foreseeable.

What does this mean?
This now means all canine patients will be transferred to Lepto 4 when their annual vaccination is due. The L4 vaccination consists of two initial vaccinations exactly 4 weeks apart and then annually will only be one vaccination for the booster💉

Due to this change, the initial second vaccination of the primary course will be free of charge🐶

What is the difference?
Lepto 4 contains two further strains of Leptospira as well as the original strains within the L2 vaccine🦠

For those already having the L4 vaccination, they obviously will not be impacted by this change!

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this change, please contact us on 01953 600066 or via email at [email protected] and we will aim to get back to you within 24 hours⏰

🦷🐰 Rabbit Dental Health 🐰🦷

This lovely boy is Soot who came for dental x-rays and teeth burr due to overgrown teeth🩻

Unlike many other animals, Rabbit teeth grow continuously throughout their lives meaning they need to constantly gnaw on objects and food to wear them down and keep them at a healthy length🦷

It is important to monitor a rabbit’s eating habits as they are at high risk of a dental condition called Malocclusion. This is when the teeth don’t wear down evenly causing misalignment. This can cause teeth to overgrow which can become painful and cause further dental issues and even gut stasis due to being too uncomfortable to eat which is a serious concern‼️

Because rabbit teeth grow continuously, they require a diet high in fiber using foods such as hay to help wear their teeth down naturally. Without enough fiber, they may develop dental disease🐰

We would advise to have regular check ups for your rabbit/s to check their teeth and ensure if issues are developing then these can be treated as soon as possible❤️‍🩹

…and yes, you can definitely microchip your rabbits just like cats and dogs🥰

03/02/2025

🚨 SCAM ALERT 🚨 - please share!

There have been multiple incidences recently of people receiving emails advising their pets microchip is ‘out of date’.

Please be reassured microchips do NOT have an expiry date and these emails are scamming emails.

It is however, important to keep your microchip details up to date whether it be an address change, contact number or owner details! The change of these details may incur a small fee depending on the microchip company but it is vital these details are updated as required to keep your pets safe❤️

It is also now a legal requirement for cats to be microchipped over the age of 20 weeks so please book in to your veterinary clinic if your cat still requires a microchip📞

If you are concerned or have any questions then please contact your veterinary clinic for further support and do NOT reply to these emails‼️

🌟 SUCCESS STORY 🌟

‼️Trigger Warning: graphic surgical content‼️

Bear came to the clinic due to not wanting to eat, pale gums and a bloated abdomen. Following admission, the vet performed an ultrasound scan to confirm a large mass attached to her spleen which needed immediate surgery known as a splenectomy🏥

Following surgery, the nurses monitored Bear very closely to ensure she recovered well as the spleen is a vital organ for filtering blood, producing white blood cells to fight infection and storing blood🩸

The mass weighed an incredible 1.5kg and was sent to the laboratory to test for an underlying cause🥼

We are delighted to say the mass came back as a benign (non-cancerous) mass and she has made a full recovery💘

🙈 Cavalier Cuteness Overload 🙈

These handsome boys are Henry and Jenson❤️

Both boys recently came in for their castration surgeries with Henry also have an umbilical hernia repair🩺

Umbilical hernias are a common birth defect in young animals as they are typically caused by an incomplete closure of the ‘umbilical ring’. The umbilical ring is an opening in the abdominal muscles of which the umbilical cord passes through before birth🐣

The boys made a positive recovery and are back to being their bouncy and happy selves as well as giving out all the kisses they possibly can🙊

This bundle of cuteness overload is Thomas😍

Thomas came in for his castration surgery and stole the hearts of both our nurses and our vets!

Being a kitten can mean one thing and one thing only…PLAYING🙈 and as you can see, whilst vet Declan was trying to check his ears, Thomas had other kitten ideas🤭
