It’s coming up to Christmas and we have lots of animals in our care who do not have a home for Christmas, for some of the animals, this will be their second Christmas spent with us

Last year we had an Amazon wish list which we had a great response too, every single animal last year was able to have a special treat and we would love for them to each have a gift again this year

On the Christmas list, there’s some of our necessities that we use daily, but also some treats, enrichment and other fun things for the animals

Any donation or share would be greatly appreciated by us and the little ones, thank you so much, wishing everyone a happy Christmas time x

Rufus
Male, estimated 4 years old+

Neutered, microchipped, up to date with everything

Rufus is such a lovely boy, he was a stray but he’s very loving, he’s very calm, and loves company, he has the sweetest meow and he will let you know if he wants you to come over to him, he is not a very playful cat- he would much rather be cuddled up than to play, but does sometimes play with the younger cats

While he has been with us he has been great with all the other animals (cats, dogs, rabbits etc)

He always purrs while he eats & when you pet him, he leans into you wanting strokes, his favourite place to be scratched is under his chin

He would be suited to a calm home where there is lots of love to give

Male kitten, found Hexham- 31.10.24

This lovely boy is around 9 weeks old, he was found as a stray near Hexham racecourse but is extremely friendly, well socialised and litter trained, he has definitely been loved

We’ve called him Salem as he arrived on Halloween, he’s not microchipped and wasn’t wearing a collar, he’s been posted on local lost and found pages over the past 2 weeks, and we have rang up vets however no one has come forward yet

As soon as you sit down he will jump up to lay across you and start purring, he loves to play and absolutely loves dogs, if he’s not cuddling up with you then he’ll be cuddled up with a dog, he also loves to lay on the sofa and watch tv

He has such a funny personality and always puts a smile on your face

If no one comes forward for this little boy then he will be put up for adoption

Rocco
4 year old, male, leopard gecko

Rocco is a big leopard gecko, he loves his food and likes to explore, he is a little nervous at first, but doesn’t mind being picked up and will very happily sit on your hand

He’s usually climbing over his rocks or exploring around his plants

Roxy
8 year old, female, leopard gecko

When Roxy first arrived she was in a tiny enclosure, very underweight, severely dehydrated, had loads of stuck shed and had been eating sand

After 6 months of rehabilitation, she’s doing so much better and is now ready to find her forever home, she’s very friendly, loves being handled, she’s very curious and adventurous but loves to spend time in her humid hide (which she’d never had before)

We usually only do go fund me pages for any animals that need extra special treatment, however our costs are rising more and more as time goes on, we also have lots of animals who are due veterinary care over the next few months, which is currently estimated to be around £800+
if anyone is able to donate anything or share it would mean so much, thank you everyone for the ongoing support ❤️

At the moment our weekly bills for food & bedding alone are almost £200 To get each an… Merakis Rescue needs your support for Help us keep the rescue going

Ant & Dec
Male, Guinea pigs
Estimated around 8-12 weeks old

Ant & Dec were found abandoned in a box next to a road

They are lovely boys, seem like they have been very well handled & socialised, they are very confident for young Guinea pigs, they will happily come over and take treats out you’re hand
They love getting cuddles and will sit and purr, they have multiple hides, but prefer to lay on their bed and wait for you to bring them treats

Tango
Male, Mongolian gerbil, 1.5 years old

Tango is a lovey boy who unfortunately was miss gendered by a pet shop so ended up being sold as a female, but was returned due to the girls fighting him, since then he was passed around different pet shop locations but didn’t have any luck finding a home, he is now with us and we would really love to find him a friend with another lone boy, however with lots of love and attention he could be homed by himself

He’s very active and loves attention, he will take treats from your hands and would love to just cuddle up all day with you

Ruby & Benjamin
5 & 4 years old, neutered and vaccinated

Ruby has such a big personality, she’s very out going and loves to be petted on her head, her favourite thing to do is to dig and forage for treats

Benjamin is quite shy at first but he’s a lovely little bunny, he loves his treats and likes to make his bed so it’s perfect for him

Frosty & Ginger
2 years old, Neutered & Vaccinated

Frosty and Ginger took a little while to settle into the rescue, however Ginger soon made friends with the other bunnies and as Frosty’s confidence grew, he also settled into the group, they both love their treats, Frosty is very active however Ginger loves to laze around, although they live in our bunny group, they have grown so closely with Gingy & Thumper and they are always together as a four, usually sitting somewhere all cuddled up, it would be absolutely amazing if they could all stay together, but Ginger and Frosty could be homed just as a pair

Marmalade & Butternut

5 month old males

These lovely boys were caught strays, they’ve had some social interactions in the past and while they’ve been with us they have really come out of their shells,
they love their food so will run over for a treat, they also love cuddles and will let you pick them up

They are litter trained and have started playing more and more with toys, they also have been doing well with basic training

They are good with dogs and have been fine around other cats

They are due neuter soon, so will be ready to be rehomed after their neuters but are currently available for applications & meet ups

He has good training, he is good on walks and walks with a halti, he loves playing with his ball and loves to cuddle up on the bed

These girls are now ready to look for their forever homes

Some of them have partial vision and rely on the other rats to help them, 2 of the girls were born in another rescue and have been in rescue their whole lives, they are a little skittish but have never bitten, the youngest in the group is 6 months old, and the oldest is 3 years old

They are all very happy rats who love to play with their toys & are always cuddled up together for nap time, they love to dig, their favourite thing is definitely their dig box

They all have curious natures and they’ll sit and watch what you are doing, they love to be out and running around their play room

URGENT - PTS DATE ISSUED -15th August

Adoptive home needed

Layla is around 4 years old, she is a bully x (not an XL bully) and is currently in police kennels, she is vaccinated, flea & wormed

She was found chained up after being used for breeding, next to her dead puppies

She’s a very sweet and gentle girl & loves to play with her toys but would be a great couch potato

She has been badly bred and has severe hip displasisa but is still a every happy and loving dog, and it doesn’t stop her from doing her daily activities

She is dog reactive so needs to be an only pet, she could live in a family home with children aged 14+

She’s had a horrendous life so far, and now has a death date set without being able to enjoy a happy life, she only has 11 days to find a loving home

She is not with us but we have been asked to help find her somewhere safe, currently in Luton Police kennels
