The only time I throw ruby a ball is when sheβs swimming! Too hot for a walk so we drove down to the river so she could have 20 minutes of swimming and a cool off π
What a superstar patient whilst having a weekly muscle stim session!
Slightly weaker through his left glute but this treatment is really building his strength and he's posture has improved so much π

I love having Nina in walking distance of home. Me and rubes often just wander up to the field to do the night check.
Ruby loves a good blast in the field and the horses are so used to her they don't even bother to lift their heads π€£
Ruby's recall is a little on her terms...I should probably work on that π€
And yes...I do disappointingly have a rug on my horse π I had hoped to keep her unrugged well into November but then she got greasy marks on her back and last time that happened she developed rain scald π€¦ββοΈ so despite all my efforts to let her live a natural horsey life, she insists on being a pampered princess πΈ / Diva Queen π
I thought she looked sound enough to have a leg stretch in the school after yet more box rest....π....can't wait to get back on board π¬
Its thirsty work this rehab malarkey π₯°
Remember Red with the broken pelvis?
Well he's really enjoying some hands on therapy this morning!
Huge improvement from having to work quite lightly with him to now being able to mobilise the tissues effectively π
Trotting poles - I'll be honest, I haven't done enough of these with Nina, so you'll see she gets a little out of balance and she's not very straight through her body. It's a shame she kicks the last pole as she was just establishing a better rhythm.
I love trotting poles as they're so beneficial for your horse physically as well as adding variety to their work which helps with their mental wellbeing as well.
Polework helps mobilise the shoulders and hips, it improves core strength and when your horse is better at doing them, it allows them to stretch over their back and builds topline and improves their posture. All these attributes help increase stride length as well as improving balance and rhythm π
To achieve this though, they do need to be done regularly! So once a week, I plan to do some polework with Nina. Hopefully in a few weeks I'll be able to share a video of her improvements π
Ps...poles aren't just for horse's, also good for dogs as well πβπ¦Ί
Actually treated my own horse today! She has lots of restricted fascia through the ventral (lower half) of her body! The restriction causes all the twitching through the shoulder and abdomen. So spent a bit of time using fascial release methods and laser. I'll see how she is again tomorrow.
Just having a check of how straight Ruby is through her spine. All dogs and horses have a natural assymetry and have one stronger hind leg than the other.
Ruby isn't too bad, but she seems to have a stronger right hind and the energy pushes up through the left shoulder.
I think for working dogs and sports dogs it's worth recognising the little imperfections so you can quickly identify any small niggles before it effects their performance.
For dogs suffering from an injury then its interesting to see how your dog compensates and uses themselves differently, especially if it's the strongest limb that is carrying an injury.
Considering a strengthening plan to prevent injuries for both horses and dogs is definitely beneficial.
