With hot weather arriving we thought we’d share how we keep our dogs safe ☀️
1. Changes in pace - dogs are allowed to freedom for short periods and return to heel to slow down their pace keeping them cooler
2. Forced settle - the dogs are put into a down/settle in the shade to prevent heat exhaustion from prolonged exposure to the sun.
3. The pool - the dogs love splashing in the pool and fresh water is available. This is controlled though - too much water + running around can cause bloat - be careful!
4. Early times. This walk started at 830 this morning and was finished by 1030 before the temperature hit 21.
5. All dogs are not fed two hours before their walks. Owners have been great at feeding extra early to prevent the risk of bloat during exercise.
This is a safer option for the dogs on hot days like today. We will be going even earlier over the next two days with temperatures reaching 24 by 10am.
Stay safe ☀️
