🌟 ENVIRONMENTAL SOCIALISATION 🌟
Do you struggle to get your dog to walk on the lead in new areas?
Do you find that your dog goes deaf/selective with recall when walking in new places?
Do you find that your dog struggles to settle when you take them out to the pub or a cafe? Maybe you want to start taking your dog more places but don’t know where to start?
🐶 Message me ENVIRONMENTAL for more information! 🐶
Getting your dog/puppy confident and comfortable with different environments is such a key part in training your dog. It not only allows the dog to be comfortable in all environments, it enables the dog to be confident in themselves and you as an owner. It also increases engagement the more neutral the environment becomes!
Here in this video my dog Arlo is walking across a slightly slopped wall in a construction site. Lots of noises, distractions & smells. I’ve worked with Arlo since he was 9 weeks old (he’s now 2) with environments & socialisation, it just goes to show if you put in the work and you’re consistent, the results will show! 🌟
This is also a major flag when researching dog trainers… their own dog, reflects their training knowledge & skills.

Recall & Introducing the whistle with Rufus!
Last week we had Rufus in for a session on recall & introducing the whistle. We started the the session with small drills to build engagement and condition the meaning of the whistle. Both Lucy & Jack took turns in blowing the whistle whilst building distractions. We saw a number of dogs on their walk and Rufus did incredibly well to stay engaged with Lucy & Jack the whole time!
Well done Rufus!! 🎖️

What do you think Arlo’s favourite gundog word is? 🤣🙈 I’m in the middle of reinforcing what ‘go back’ means for Arlo ready for his trials this summer. ‘Go back’ for us is generally used when a marked retrieve has landed or its a blind retrieve and hand signals are used alongside the marker word. We do have many other marker words for gundog work (which I will demonstrate properly in later reels) such as ‘get on’ which is our word for hunting/sweeping and ‘get in/over’ which we use for hunting under cover or hunting over a fence. #gundog #spanielgundog #workingspaniel #workinggundog #gundog #cockerspaniel #sprockerspaniel
Taking my gundog, Arlo outside of the field Memory retrieves and obedience in a car park! I’m working on more independent retrieves and hunting with Arlo. Bee takes over on the field and Arlo’s taken advantage of it and hasn’t learned to hunt alone and retrieve independently. Doing retrieves and obedience with Arlo in areas other than a field helps improve Arlo’s confidence in himself and engagement with his obedience #dogtrainer #gundogtrainer #gundogtraining #gundogwork #workinggundog #workingspaniel
Hunting and Building Drive for Gundogs Sessions & Classes Available - Details below! 1-1 Private Gundog sessions are available. £50 per session. Classes: - £25 per session, 8 week course! • Introduction • Gundog Obedience • Retrieves • Directionals • Hunting & Building Drive ⭐️We accept all breeds & personalities! ⭐️ Reactive dogs welcome - I specialise in resource guarding dogs to allow them to share and get into shoots! ⭐️Puppies welcome! In the Video - Today we worked on building Arlo’s hunting drive so he learns to hunt more independently and doesn’t chose to check in with me during the hunt. We want Arlo to keep his nose down and stay focused unless recalled or he’s found game/the dummy. We also looked on reining in Jasper & Bee’s drive. Both these two springers get over stimulated very quickly during a hunt and can easily lose track of what they’re searching for, so I was doing short and sweet hunting sessions. I will be looking into doing more scent work with both of them to teach them to slow down and use their nose not their head. #spaniels #springerspaniels #workingspaniels #highwycombe #dogwalks #chilterndogwalks #dogwalker #dogtrainer
Small but effective training sessions! When doing sessions with your dog, it’s important to keep them short and fun to keep the dogs interested and motivated! I was in Jolley’s today with Eden desensitising her to bags, noises and people and I decided to run a emergancy down while walking away. This is a command that Eden knows and I’m reinforcing the command in different environments. I was in Jolley’s for 10 minutes getting her food and treats and that’s all she needed. Desensitising her to people was done by walking round the shop, desensitising her to bags was done by carrying the food bags around the shop and I made noises by dropping toys and items on the floor (on purpose). All these things were simple and small but extremely effective in Eden’s training. We ended our session with the emergancy downstay. The emergancy down is a very important lifeskill I’ve taught Eden for when I’m out with my daughter and something happens I can pop Eden in a down and I know she won’t move until I tell her to - it’s something I’ve always wanted to teach my dogs and it’s a skill I recommend most owners implementing into their dogs training! The way she looked at me at the end of the video when she saw it was me behind her 🥺❤️ #dogtraining #dogwalking #dogtrainer #dogtrainingsessions #lifeskills #dogtraininglifeskills #highwycombedogtrainer #highwycombe #chilternwalks #chilternhills #westwycombe #goldenballwestwycombe #highwycombedogwalks
Proofing Obedience - Eden 🥳 I’ve been working on proofing Eden’s down stays and sit stays recently, she’s getting so good at learning when to break her down/sit stay and only to break when I say 🥰 This helps our training because in future sessions I can put Eden in a down stay and she won’t break her position if people within the classes are also saying ‘break’ #dogtraining #dogtrainer #malinois #dogtrainingtips #dogtrainingadvice
Focusing around distractions - Willow 💗 Last week we had willow back for a session. We worked on learning to focus around distractions, building that engagement as soon as she sees a dog and shaping new lead behaviour in preparation for our next sessions 🥰 Eden came along to this session, remained in a downstay! Super proud dog mum moment! 🐶❤️ #dogtraining #dogtrainer #dogtrainingadvice #dogwalkersofig
Eden’s Obedience 💗 Eden’s recently been working on moving from a focused heel, to a down/sit stay and then back into a focused heel. She’s getting incredibly good at recognising the different commands while doing a different task! She’s not very confident moving from a sit/down stay back into a focused heel yet as we’ve been working with a different release command, however I don’t want to give her a release commend and her break her focus. I want her to stay focused but switch command 🥰 Focusing very nicely around other dogs 😍 Obedience training is something I’m extremely passionate about and it’s why a all my own dogs show heavy obedience training 🏆 #obedience #obeidencetraining #dogtraining #dogtrainer
Neutrality and confidence in different environments - Eden 💜 Today with Eden I worked on building confidence and neutrality to playground equipment, she absolutely loved it 🥰 she’s starting to sky rocket with confidence in herself! Next we will be working on building neutrality in town centres, train stations & bus stations 🥰 #puppysocialising #puppyconfidencebuilding #obedience #puppylove #puppyoftheday #malinois #malinoisgermansheperdmix #germanshepherd
Socialising Sundays - Eden 💜 Today I’m doing more environmental work with Eden, getting her confident with her obedience outside with distractions. I’m also working on her confidence climbing on and off things now she’s bigger! 💜 Great way of training your dog on a chill Sunday! 😇 Watch Eden grow and transform into a spectacular girly 🥰 #malinois #malinoislovers #malinoisgermansheperdmix #germanshepherd #dogtraining #dogtrainer
Loose Leash - Harley 💛 I went to go and see Harley a few weeks ago regarding loose leash walking and getting over stimulated in busy environments. Before entering into busier environments, we needed to shape our loose leash walking and build a firm foundation with engagement. The first video I took was Harley in his local park on our first session. The second video is one that his mum has sent me a couple of weeks afterwards showing his engagement! Harley is absolutely smashing his training! Well done Harley 💛🐶 #labrador #labradortraining #dogtraining #dogtrainer #beforeandaftervideo #dogtrainerslife #reallifedogtraining
Down Stay • Sit Stay • 🐶 Reinforcing emergancy down stays with Arlo with distractions and myself giving commands to the others. Jasper in a sit stay (did you see his non-stop wiggly tail 🙈) and Eden practising her sit stays. With Eden I’m slowly increasing distance and distractions, she’s amazing for 4 months old however 🥰 It’s important to help build these commands into your everyday walks as it’s a useful skill for your dog to know. It also helps build relationship and engagement between you and your dog 🐶❤️ #dogtraining #dogtrainingtips #dogtrainer #spaniel #springerspaniel #malinoistraining #malinoisofinstagram #germanshepards
Obedience with a puppy 🐶 4 month old Eden learning some obedience. Recently a lot of our obedience has been quick paced and fast movements but today we worked on sit stays and down stays, so she not only learns to be quick with her obedience but she learns how to stay in positions when required 🐶❤️ As you can see in the video, both my boys have cracked the down stay and I included them in this session as a distraction for Eden. #dogtraining #dogtrainer #dogtraingtips #dogobedience #dogobediencetraining #malinois #springerspaniel
RUBY - Session 3, High End Obedience ❤️ This is Ruby’s 3rd session with me. She’s doing amazing! For the last couple of sessions we’ve worked on loose leash walking and recalling away from other dogs 😊 Ruby’s parents want to improve her obedience overall when out and about so that’s what we’re working on. During session 3 we were working on building the foundations for a bulletproof ‘Down Stay’ 😊 she did amazing on her first session of downstay 🐶 #dogtraining #dogtrainer #dogoftheday #dogsofinstagram #dogobedience #obediencedogtraining
Barrier Frustration - Willow🐶 Yesterday we had Olivia and Willow come in for a session regarding barrier frustration. We had a talk through about the session and how it would work and what we would be doing, I then got my dog Arlo out the car and we started putting in the training 😊 We also went through some environmentals with Willow while Arlo was nearby to increase confidence in herself and Olivia as the owner. Willow absolutely smashed her session yesterday ☺️ looking forward to seeing more results! ❤️ Well done 🏅🏆 #dogtraining #dogsofinstagram #hungarianrescuedog #rescuedog #dogtrainer #dogtrainersofinstagram #dog #trainingsession #dogtrainingvideo
Lila 💖 Last week we had gorgeous rescue Lila in for a session. We worked on recall, loose lead and confidence building! When working on exposure to different environments and building confidence & trust between you and your dog, seek professional advice as pushing your dog to much to soon can have the opposite effect! Always set your dog up for success, start small, slow and work at their pace! 🥰 Work with the dog you have in front of you, all dogs work at different paces and require different levels of motivation & rewards 🏆🌟
I absolutely love it when clients send me updates of how they’re getting on with their training! 🌟 We had Ruby in a few weeks ago for loose leash walking & recall. I gave her owners some homework for a few weeks for loose leash walking before we start recall and they’re absolutely smashing it! 😄 different environments with Ruby, being consistent! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Message me LOOSE LEASH for help 🐶

Another whistle command video🥰 Some of these dogs were off hunting at the back of the woods, playing or distracted. When taking out a group of dogs you need to make sure you have control over them. I love the fact that all my pups are keen to learn the whistle command and absolutely love it.
My Emergancy Whistle! So this is just an example of what I teach within my groups. This afternoon was a quiet walk so I took the time to take video of the whistle command I am teaching EVERY dog that comes into my groups. It’s my ‘I need you back’ whistle. I use it incase there’s someone ahead, (I recall them just incase that person isn’t okay with dogs) there’s dogs ahead, the play is getting to rough or I generally need them back with me. This is the first group I’ve had out in a while that I can confidently say all the dogs know the whistle meaning. Most of my dogs are still learning it which is fair enough and or I’ve had a few newbies in which case they haven’t had the chance. Being able to call them off of play is highly important, especially if you don’t know dogs body language as playing can easily turn into an argument. Thankfully I know body language and I know each of my dog individually so I know what they like and don’t like. However when introducing a new dog, it’s nice to know I can call mine off and out of a play, when I know the new dog has had enough 🥰
