Such lovely words from Mia’s owner, Nicole. (as she’s not on FB I’m unable to post this myself in Reviews, so popping it here as a Post) As they’re moving away this was our last session. ☹️
“Hello Susan 🌷 It was so lovely to see you yesterday, thank you so much for the thoughtful card, we’re going to miss you! 💕✨”
“After my rottie, Mia, had surgery on both elbows for elbow dysplasia, I took her for hydrotherapy with Susan at HandsonHounds for rehabilitation. Her recovery was remarkable and after her rehab with Susan she was back to her usual self. When she needed rehab after surgery on her cruciate ligament I knew straight away that we had to go back to HandsOnHounds. Her rehab has come along in leaps and bounds (literally!). Susan is wonderfully personable and professional and her love for what she does (and for her four-legged clients) shines through. Mia adores Susan and loves her hydrotherapy sessions – she can’t wait to get into the tank!”
Evie has had cruciate ligament surgery with the brilliant James Copland at Temple End vets. First session today and she was so good. I couldn’t have been happier with how she took to the uwt. And those China blue eyes ❤️
Digger the Cockerpoo is nearly 15yrs old. Yet here he is working like a dog half his age! Especially good after he suffered a disc protrusion back in 2022. Just to add, he hates water!! Love this dear old gent 🥰
This little darling has had surgery for IVDD and is getting stronger week on week. Come on Ruby…you can do this 🥰
Alfie the Maltese Terrier is so keen and can’t wait to get going! I love the way he’s walking before it’s even started. 🐾🤗
Beautiful Irish Setter, Stanley, has recently had a total hip replacement. Already tackling an incline on his third session, he’s doing so well. A gentle, sweet natured boy, he’s a pleasure to rehab. And his owner has the most infectious laugh!
High praise indeed - thank you so much Karly 🤗
“Violet has got 4 bad legs and on a number of different pain meds. Super proud of her today at Hands On Hounds it going to be a long road but Susie Davies is magic”
We had a lovely time at Crufts. Fun to catch up with friends! Unfortunately we weren’t placed in a strong limit class but I was very proud of Lorna. She always enjoys her time in the ring and is a pleasure to show. ❤️
We were trying to find something to keep Bentley’s ears out of the water….bless him he looks like he should have a bucket and mop! 😂 We decided against it and he worked well in his session, despite getting wet ears.
Buzz Lightyear (Buzzy to his friends!) has had cruciate surgery. Recovering well, he enjoys his sessions and is as cute as a button 🥰
And here’s Bella head on… because we can’t not share this gorgeous face!
Beautiful Bella the Bernese Mountain Dog came in today to continue her hydrotherapy following cruciate ligament stabilisation surgery. So biddable always, she is making excellent progress. Here she is using the operated leg (closest to the camera) beautifully, this being her 4th session. Good girl Bella 🥰
Wishing you all a Very Merry Christmas. Thank you for the privilege of looking after your dogs throughout this year. With love from me and my Christmas Angel ###
Look what the Postie brought today! I’m so proud of Lorna, Rottsworth Kricket, to have received this accolade and lifelong qualification to Crufts. Thank you to Wendy Topping, Alastair Baillie, Bev and Paul Topping for your unwavering support and encouragement and for entrusting me with this beautiful girl. As it’s getting a little chillier now this is when I like everyone to bring a post-hydro drying coat/jumper please. After a hydro session it’s important to keep those muscles warm. Especially so for fine coated breeds and the senior citizens. Here is Alfie sporting one of his jumpers. Doesn’t he look dapper. Be warm. Be more like Alfie 😁
Stanley just can’t help himself 😂 He likes to give lots of kisses but finally we got a nice shot! He’s had his fair share of knee issues/surgeries over the last year but finally he’s reached his target. Such a big gentle giant!
Alfie the Maltese is as cute as a button. He’s in to build up muscle mass in his hindquarters and at 11yrs still has a jaunty and bouncy stride! 🥰
I’m so looking forward to welcoming you all back. Finally I am back up and running tomorrow!! Charlie is first in in the morning - can’t wait to see you!!
Good morning all. I write this post in despair! The glass arrived but the fitters rejected it as it wasn’t perfect. A new piece has been prepped and arrived with them last night but now they’re not available to fit it until Monday. I have gone mad and told them that they need to find alternative fitters for me asap. They are chasing up others for me. I just don’t know what to say….it’s so distressing and I’m so sorry. I’m sure some of you will be looking for another hydro centre and I don’t blame you. This WILL be resolved but it’s not going to be ready for appointments booked in this week. I’m doing everything I can to be operational asap. I’m so sorry for this, it’s a nightmare. Susan x
Morning all! Hope everyone had a good weekend in the sunny weather! An update on the treadmill. I should be up and running by the middle of next week. I’m not going to book anyone in before the morning of Wednesday (20th) to be absolutely sure the machine is fully operational. This really is such an awful time and I’m so sorry that it’s a protracted interruption to all your dog’s sessions. At the end of this week I’ll have more news and over the weekend I’ll be contacting everyone who has missed their session(s). Thank you for so many supportive messages, they mean a lot whilst I’m unable to provide hydrotherapy for your dogs. X
Hello everyone. I want to give you a progress report on my treadmill. I have now secured a Company to complete the task of replacing the glass panel. The manufacturers were very difficult to deal with so I’ve gone with an independent firm. The tempering of the glass takes a week after it has been cut to size. It will be ordered today or tomorrow. Realistically we are looking at the w/s 18th Sept to be up and running. I will be contacting everyone again with a definite start date once the ball is rolling. I’m so so sorry for this lengthy interruption. I had no idea that it would take so long but appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding. I’ve had so many messages of support - I really do have amazing clients! Thank you all and as Arnie said “I’ll be back”!! Susan 💕xx
Update: they’re from a lovely friend who thought I needed cheering up after my treadmill catastrophe!! ❤️
To the very kind person who left these gorgeous flowers for me - there was no note! Please reveal your identity so I can say thank you personally 😂
An excellent cpd First Aid Refresher today hosted by Aquatic Canine Therapy and presented by Kerry Stubbs RVN. It’s vital to keep up with procedures and guidelines as they change regularly. Also good to practice some practical life-saving skills.

Violet the Rottie has had a TPLO for a ruptured cruciate ligament. She’s big, bouncy and totally delightful. On track for a full recovery ❤️

I can’t take the credit for this….A client’s son decided that music would liven this little video up! Made me laugh!
Remember Stanley the Olde English Bulldog? His first session was a bit wild! This is his 6th session and what an improvement! I’m very proud of him. He’s already getting pretty strong - his lovely owners may need to eat their spinach!! 😂🙈
Lovely Sofie the Chihuahua cross, has a few issues in both hind legs. She suffers from luxating patellas (dislocating kneecaps!) and hip dysplasia. However she’s blessed with a brilliant nature and an owner who adores her. I’m pretty fond of her too 🥰
Stanley the Olde English Bulldog is a powerhouse and as you can see needs some holding back! At 42kg he tests my strength in the tank!! Recovering from a cruciate op, this is only his 2nd session but already he’s mastered the art of eating primula as his encouragement. Good boy Stanley. Such a gentle giant 🥰
Stalker, the Labrador, loves Primula! This needs the sound on...it’s like he’s saying nom nom nom nom!! 😂
Now then, this video is quite long! I make no apologies and well done if you get to the end (about 3mins!). Such a fun session with my new Assistant. Archie has got the job!! Oh and Bertha isn’t wearing a jacket because she absolutely detests it and won’t work with one on (her owner has signed a disclaimer). She’s young and strong and making a great recovery from cruciate surgery. Love my job ❤️
