Lovely Lexi came into the Stokenchurch hospital with a cut on her paw. Fortunately it wasn't too bad so she didn't need a stich up and she left with a brightly coloured bandage. Lexi gave all the nurses kisses in exchange for tummy rubs and a biscuit!

This handsome 9 year old gent 'Chester' has been in for some dental work. He's a very affectionate chap and made sure that he got plenty of belly rubs from everyone before he left.

Remember Diego? Well his sister Daphne came in a few days later with a bad tummy upset. She was vomiting, which isn't ideal, especially in young animals who need lots of energy to keep growing and playing. She also behaved as if she'd been given life imprisonment, shouting, (a lot!) and trying everything to escape!
She soon perked up with some IV fluids and symptomatic treatment.

Esmerelda is now 15.5 years old! Emily saw her for some oral x-rays and dental work. Her x-rays showed some lucency of the roots of one of her big molars, which we already suspected of having an abscess. She has now had that tooth removed along with many others, so she now only has one canine left! However, that did not stop Esme polishing off a bowl of food once she was awake.
Older patients often need dental work, but they are sometimes a higher risk anaesthetic, so the vets have to weigh up the risk vs the benefits to the patient. A tooth root abscess is a very painful condition so this dental was very much worth doing for Esme.

Teddy Bear is a 13 year old Giant Schnauzer who had to have a broken nail checked and treated. As there was inflammation of the nail bed we took some x-rays to check that nothing bad was going on and luckily these just showed signs of soft tissue swelling. The nail was treated, bandaged and Teddy Bear had his booster and arthritis treatment while he was under sedation.
True to his name, he's a big cuddly softie!

Roxy the ferret came in for some dental work and had 5 teeth removed (adult ferrets have 34 teeth). Ferrets teeth have a short crown (the visible part of the tooth) with long roots so they can be tricky to remove but Kezia did a fantastic job.
Roxy has a typically mischievous nature and at first didn't want to take her anti-inflammatory or antibiotic medications but shes now recovered well thanks to her owners perseverance 😊

JUSTICE FOR DIEGO!
Diego came in for castration but didn't appreciate solitary confinement. He tried his parkour skills in an attempt to find a weak spot in his prison!
He shouted at us if he wasn't actively receiving pats and cuddles so he got more that his fair share of attention that day! Who could resist that appealing face?

Zino the Basenji had a wound on his stopper pad which we assessed and bandaged. This very smart looking breed has a tightly curled tail and alert expression.
Basenji fun fact - this breed of dog cannot produce a barking noise due to the shape of their larynx (voice box) being different to other dogs but they can still try to talk to you with a sound described as 'yodelling'.
Zino didn't yodel for us though, just told us off for touching his sore foot! (understandable 😂)

Beautiful Sphinx cat Mia has been in to see Nicky for a heart scan as she has a heart murmur. Mia needs some dental work so Nicky has assessed and measured her heart in order to create a tailored anaesthetic plan so we can use the drugs most suited to her condition.
