PRECAUTIONARY ADVICE ❗️

Please follow the link below regarding specific dog chews that have resulted in illness. No official reports in the UK yet, but owners please be aware.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) is advising dog owners not to feed their pets specific dog chews from China following concerns from the European Union (EU) of a possible link to serious behavioural changes

Merry Christmas from Team Bridge 🐾🐾

We would like to wish all of our lovely clients and their pets a very Merry Christmas! This is our last Christmas photo in our Worston Road practice- a very exciting year ahead of us for 2025 with our big move pending early Spring!

We will closing the surgery at an earlier time of 4pm tomorrow (Christmas Eve). The surgery will also be CLOSED Christmas Day and Boxing Day with our dedicated team providing our Emergency Out of Hours Service should you need us!

🐶 The very cute Rommel came in last week for his vaccinations, he is a Bernese Mountain Dog and already weighs 14.7kg at 12 weeks old!

❗️Rommel is here to remind you to check that you have enough prescription food and medication in stock to last over the Christmas period! This friday (20th December) is the last day to get your orders in before Christmas.❗️

Exciting update! ⭐️

We are aware that sometimes our phones are just SO busy! And often you are waiting to get through just for a quick thing such as ordering food or medication. So for your convenience we are soon going to introduce 'PetsApp', this is a chat app that you can download to send us any non-urgent messages or requests. It's super easy to use, specific to our surgery, and you can even book your own routine appointments through it!

Look out for your invitation next week - there will also be a QR code available at our Reception if you'd like to download it whilst you're visiting. We hope that you will find this useful - please do speak to us if you have any queries.

Today we said a sad goodbye to our lovely Sadie 💐 After nearly 10 years on our Reception, she is moving on to pastures new, and we are SO excited for her. You will have been helped by Sadie over the years, and we’re sure you will join us in wishing her the very best of luck for her exciting new future, as much as we will miss her.

Popping in to say goodbye was another familiar face- our Catherine, accompanied by gorgeous baby Amelia. Catherine will be back with us next year, and it was so lovely to see them both!

STAFF ANNIVERSARIES! 🎉

The first congratulations goes to Jenny, our receptionist, who has been working for the practice for 20 years this week! Jenny started working here under the previous owners and then was inherited by Ann and Scott (along with the furniture!) when they took over in 2008 Jenny has been an integral part of Team Bridge over the years and is always on hand to help with any queries amongst the team and from our lovely clients. Jenny has also been responsible for training many of our past and present team members on reception and is our ‘go to’ encyclopaedia of knowledge regarding our ordering of stock and managing our Practice Plan!

The second congratulations goes to our Registered Veterinary Nurse Leanne, who has been Nursing for 30 years this week! Leanne started her career in Kent where she stayed at her first practice for 13 years, after which she travelled to Peru for 6 months where she volunteered as an English teaching assistant and working at an Ecological Conservation Reserve. Upon her return to the UK she continued her Nursing career as a Locum veterinary Nurse before making the move to Somerset. Leanne started locuming for us here in the region of 2017-2018 and then never left! She has been a permanent member of our nursing team ever since and has worked various day and night shift roles.

GRASS SNAKE 🐍

This afternoon we were asked to assist a Grass Snake that had got into a spot of bother with some garden netting. Our Registered Veterinary Nurses, Scott and Chloe were able to gently cut the snake free from the netting which was quite tight around its body, without causing the snake too much stress and fortunately had no lasting injuries.

The snake will then be released this evening, back to the area it was found!

Bessie ❤️

Bessie is a regular here at Bridge and she has been coming in to see us since she was a puppy. Bessie is a Boerboel x Bull Mastiff and is currently weighing over 9 stone! The Boerboel breed originates from South Africa as a family guard dog and are highly intelligent dogs.

Bessie is popular amongst the staff here and Nurse Chloe has been documenting her growth, from when she was an 8 week old puppy up until now, nearly 2 years old and fully grown! There’s not enough room on Chloe’s lap now, although she did try!

One of our lovely patients Tigger, was recently featured on the Bristol Cats Study page. He is the very handsome tabby cat perched on the wooden post! Bristol Cats Study helps improve the knowledge around cat health and behaviour to help us understand more about them in general.
