A gentle reminder to please be patient with us. We are working as hard as we can, but with reduced staffing levels. Thank you.
⬆️Too Many Pets, Not Enough Vets⬇️
Veterinary Practices are currently experiencing extreme pressure on their teams and services due to a number of reasons.
Please continue to be kind, considerate and conscientious of your behaviour to our exhausted profession.
1️⃣Boom in Lockdown Pets
Since lockdown 3.2 MILLION households have welcomed a new pet. These pets all need veterinary care however... We have a workforce shortage. Why?
2️⃣COVID-19 Pandemic
The pandemic has exhausted our profession who worked tirelessly through all lockdowns. But it has meant reduced workforce through shielding, track and trace and self-isolations.
3️⃣Brexit
The number of EU vets registering to work in the UK every month has reduced by 80% since Brexit
❌Our profession is in a critical state at the moment where the number of pets and pressure for services exceeds our workforce.
Over 94% of Practices in a recent poll by Veterinary Voices UK stated they were short staffed.
Veterinary practices will need to prioritise the most urgent cases, this may mean result in a delay in seeing non urgent cases.
We understand this can be hugely frustrating for you, but please be mindful of the pressures we're facing at the moment, and be kind to the reception staff.
