Helping Hounds is a Charity Dog Rescue, Rehabilitation & Rehoming group based near Grayshott Really think about your decision and do not apply on a whim. canis).

Please only approach us if you are 100% willing to put all the hard work in to having a rescue dog. Some of these dogs need continued support, behaviourist training, time and patience. Only apply to us if you're absolutely sure you can put your heart and soul into adopting our dogs. They deserve nothing less. Most of our dogs come via Council Stray Dog Kennels in the UK. Occasionally we will help

vets abroad. Our Romanian Rescuers are Vets and/or training to be Vets. Our dogs are all fully vet checked before arriving with us and are vaccinated/treated as follows:

Nobivac DHPPi - providing immunisation against canine distemper, hepatitis (canine adenovirus), canine parvovirus and canine parainfluenza and is typically given in combination with a Nobivac leptospirosis vaccine (Nobivac Lepto2 or L4)

SnapTest 4dx - This is a blood test that checks for four common diseases in dogs: Heartworm, plus three tick-borne diseases. Given to dogs over 1 year old and must be negative before travel. This pertains to foreign dogs only

Brucellosis test - Canine brucellosis is a contagious bacterial infection caused by the bacterium, Brucella canis (B. All dogs must test negative before travelling to the UK

All dogs are wormed and flea treated before being rehomed

If old enough every dog will be spayed or neutered (unless there is a medical condition that prevents this)

Our chosen transporter is Eli Pet Transport who are DEFRA approved and run under TRACES system; with a fully qualified attendant on board as well as both drivers

HH dogs can be reserved for £150 non refundable deposit. The only circumstance upon which your deposit will be returned is if you fail your homecheck

Our adoption fee is £495 and in addition to the above you also receive a combination of the items below suitable for your dog:

Packet of dog treats
Cottage Industry English made dog training toy
Microchip registration
Medical card or Full passport
Full Rescue Back-Up

We also assist in Spay & Neuter campaigns to help end the awful plight of so many street dogs

We are happy to facilitate 'Charity Days' via companies with the appropriate paperwork. These can include dog walking, grooming, trips to freedom fields and the beach. Please Note: Helping Hounds has zero tolerance for harassment or abuse, and our policy is to cease engagement with anyone who threatens our volunteers or our rescue. Anyone perceived as threatening will have their membership to any of our public profiles revoked without warning or discussion.

We are absolutely amazed that lovely 14 week old lurcher X pup Aron hasn't been snapped up yet! A message from his lovely foster mum about how amazing Aron below:

"So Aron... Where do i begin?! He is a ball of fun that just loves everything and everyone he meets - except the hoover, that's a little scary!

He loves his food so will be easily trained due to his food motivation. He absolutely adores children, and is absolutely fine being left for short periods of times. He currently lives with other dogs and is very respectful - he LOVES playing with them all.

He enjoys his walks and wants everyone to say hello to him. He will make the perfect addition to any family, and he loves his TOYS!!"

We welcomed this beautiful boy to our clan last week and Aron is now looking for his forever home. He is a 14 week old lurcher puppy, a male, vaccinated, fabulous with other dogs and humans he's met so far.

He was dumped with his siblings in a box in the Hampshire/Sussex area - but that doesn't seem to have affected him at all - he's very outgoing, happy and wants to play all day.

Being a puppy someone needs to be at home initially so that he can be settled in. He would be great in a house with another sociable dog. Please bear in mind he is only a puppy and therefore at the teething stage, which with the right direction and time, he'll grow out of.

He's currently in Grayshott with one of his brothers, Norman.

On our final day in Romania we made a visit to The Centre of Hope to drop off a few things and we were lucky enough to be shown around their amazing facilities 🙏. It was great to see some of the team again from the spay & neuter campaign and to meet the dogs there receiving treatment 💚

A successful and busy day 2 with another 56 dogs and cats spayed/neutered making an incredible total of 118 over the 2 day campaign 👏. Some were pets but many were strays, with a high number being females, which really helps to reduce the breeding cycle. The Helping Hounds volunteers all got very mucky helping rescuer Anca Spinu and the amazing team from Romania Animal Rescue, Inc Dba Animal Spay Neuter International team. We have loved being here, meeting everyone and helping to make a small difference 💚

The end of a long day 1 with a total of 62 cats and dogs spayed & neutered 🙏. It was incredible to see the team from Romania Animal Rescue, Inc Dba Animal Spay Neuter International team and Anca Spinu at work 💚. Our team of 5 Helping Hounds volunteers loved being involved and enjoyed meeting the responsible owners who brought their cats and dogs in, as well as helping to capture a number of strays to be neutered.

We’re not in a hurry to rehome our dogs; instead, we focus on building their trust, confidence, and social skills while they stay with us. Our kennels and our network of foster homes provide a safe and nurturing environment for as long as it takes to prepare each dog for their forever home.

A massive shout out to The Deers Hut for hosting one of our collection tins, and raising an incredible £129.04 on our behalf. Thank you to all thier dog-loving staff and patrons for their generosity. If you've never been to the pub, their Sunday roasts are glorious, they have a fabulour outdoor area and dogs are welcome inside and out. They also host a plethora of fabulous events and are situated in an area with fabulous walks for both humans and dogs!

A Happy tongue out Tuesday from Hazel 💚
Hazel is a 3 year old Frenchie x who is currently in a foster home in Farnborough living with several other dogs of all sizes. Hazel loves to play with other dogs but she totally adores human attention, especially children’s.

Hazel can be homed as an only dog or with another dog. Hazel does like to be with her human so any adopter will need to be patient and give her time to settle before gradually leaving her.

Meet gorgeous Leo, a 19 month old pointer cross who loves to play and enjoys his walks. Leo sleeps in his crate overnight and travels well in the car.

We would love to find Leo an active home with a friendly resident dog. Leo could live with older children who are dog respectful and a dog savvy cat.

Leo is very trainable and just needs consistency about what’s acceptable and whats not, so an adopter prepared to continue this would be ideal. Leo is vaccinated, housetrained and neutered.

A few of the Helping Hounds team are going to Romania in a couple of weeks time to assist in a Spay & Neuter Campaign. As some of you know this is always a cause close to my heart as the only way forward is to stop all the strays. Our dogs here are the lucky ones but for the rest, life is beyond miserable. I've seen the public shelters first hand and the images of neglect, death, hopelessness and cruelty will remain with me for the rest of my life.
The magnificent vet team from Romania Animal Rescue Group along with Anca Spinu have organised a two day spay and neuter campaign in Anca's home town of Perisoru on 28/29 August. A spay or neuter is £25 and it is keyhold surgery - it's truly amazing. If anyone wants to help then please send whatever donation you can afford to:

A massive shout out to the Oakhanger Flower Show and Fun Dog Show for their generous donation of £225 to us, and the bags of dog treats. Thank you to the organisers and volunteers of this amazing, well organised and as advertised, FUN event. Thank you also to everyone that turned out to support it, and those who made donations directly to us on the day! We raised a futher £83 in our collection boxes. It was wonderful to see so many of our adopters and fosters there too. We're so grateful for you all.

Lulu is small sized, 5 years old and looking for a quiet home where she can just chill and be a loving companion. Lulu does not like being left for long so a home where the adopter does not go out much would be ideal. Lulu can also find busy/noisy situations and dogs she does not know in close proximity to her scary, so any adopter would need to be willing to manage this. Lulu is currently in a lovely foster home near Portsmouth where she is relaxed and enjoying lots of new experiences. 😢 Then & Now 🙌 Sisters Millie & Tess joined the Helping Hounds family on the 29th November 2023. Their owner was no longer able to care for them after having them from puppies. At 9 years old with their options running out we had to help them. Initially they were obviously sad and confused, and they were also extremely overweight. Well look at them now! These young at heart girls may not have a home but they are loved by all the volunteers, they are well cared for and most importantly they are now the correct weight. Oldies really are the best - please don’t dismiss older dogs when you are looking to foster or adopt.
