Fantastic time at fly agility, Albie and Juno literally flew 🚀 🎾.
Well done - Donna S🤩.
(Luna will be back from holiday to join us next time)
If anyone else would like a go the next session is Thursday 29th August 6 pm-7 pm. Message below👇😊.
Swimming is not just for the younger dogs who love to jump in and make a big splash. It is a great exercise for the elder dogs.
Here is the lovely Miss Tilly at 15 years young showing how to swim gracefully.
Love having Tilly in for a swim as it is so peaceful 🥰 - Donna S
(unlike her younger sister Rosie who loves to jump😂)
When a dog is nervous, searching is a great way to build confidence. Percy has done amazing with his confidence, his eye would almost pop out of his head if you even glanced at him. With the help and patience of the staff and instructors when he comes to class and day training, he is a more relaxed dog, not totally laid back but a lot happier and more independent.
Super proud of how far he has come 🥰🐾🐾 Donna S 😊
Gareth and Blu learning how to wave in beginner's trick class.
Let's see how many waves back he can get 👋👋

Great impulse control from puppy Lettie! Just because there is food about, doesn’t mean it’s theirs to take. It’s important to teach this lifesaving lesson whilst our dogs are young 👏🐾💙 ~S
Loose lead walking🐾
Daycare with Training🐾
Loose lead walking is commonly misunderstood. When we go for a walk we shouldn’t expect our dog to be glued to our side the entire time like a robot, this wouldn’t be an enjoyable and stimulating walk for our dogs. Yes there are times where we need their full attention right by our side, but a lot of the time this is what your lead walks should look like. A nice loose lead and plenty of checking in but also lots of sniffing and exploring. Lovely work Lexi and co🐾💙 ~S

Working on that all important stop at a distance! Verbally and using the whistle, the dog needs to be able to stop on cue no matter how far they are from their owner.
Well done Loki and his Nanny Jane🐾🦆💙 ~S

Settling in busy environments🐾
Daycare with Training🐾
This morning Monty has been practising his settle in busier environments in preparation for Bbqs, pub gardens and cafe visits this summer! 🍺🥩☕️
We can’t expect them to be able to switch off unless we practise, why not give it a crack this week🐾 ~S
That’s better, I tried again (thankyou Jo) and now I can do a verbal paws up, hurrah 🐕😀sorry guys I clicked on wrong photo 🐕

When working with a very easily distracted dog, it’s important to keep things simple and start off by mastering exercises in a calmer environment to begin with such as your living room or for example with Buzz here, our shop. Once mastered in the calm environment you can then up the level of distraction. Well done Buzz!🐾💚 ~S

Young Darcy wasn’t so confident doing the taller jumps a few weeks ago, but after building it up and plenty of practice, she’s now doing brilliantly! Well done Darc❤️👏 ~S

Here’s a few of our beginners Gundog crew doing some exercises. One pair working on agility ignoring the hidden dummies until told to search and another pair working on their stop on the move before being directed to search behind them! Well done guys🧡🐾 ~S
Well done Maddie & Arya, did really well today👍😀🐕🐕
Donna S just really enjoys SHAPING BEHAVIOURS!
Why?………its because she loves watching the dogs work things out for themself.
Here is Merlin working out that it is a paws-up on the box that is going to get him the reward, with no instructions from his mum. Amazing job Merlin 😊
When we shape behaviours we start to teach the dog to think about what behaviour is required, rather than waiting on someone else to tell them what to do.
🐾How much nicer is it when your family members automatically do their chores without you needing to remind them?
🐾How nice is it when you come to a clean and tidy house as opposed to doing it all yourself?
🐾How nice would it be if our dog automatically chose the most appropriate thing to do in each situation they find themselves in?
Dogs who learn to shape develop:
* A stronger bond with their owner
* Problem-solving skills
* Adaptability
* Inner confidence
* Specific Physical skills depending on the task
* Great social skills when integrated into our household
* Familiarity with a range of new and novel experiences.
