Here is Merlot, a single female gerbil who was recently in our care after she lost her previous gerbil friend. She is now named Bia, and has been successfully bonded with her new friend in her forever home.
Her new owner had this to say: "We are so chuffed with Bia, and Bia is a sweetheart. We're completely in love with her little personality! The girls are having some lazy days at the moment, lots of sleeping and snuggling!"

Meet Naan Bread! πΈπ»
Naan is a sweet affectionate girl who enjoys spending her time with people. She will approach you and chirp at you for attention.
Naan enjoys being groomed, to make sure her fur is in purrrfect condition, and after she loves to snooze away in a sunny spot. π€π€
She is nervous around children in the past, so she would prefer to live in a home with adults or teenagers.
She will also need a garden to explore; she would love to find herself, her own sun spot to bask in! β
She would be best living without another cat but could possibly live with a dog dependant on personality.
π If you could give this lovely girl a home please follow the link π

πΉ World Hamster Day πΉ
Happy #WorldHamsterDay to all the adorable hamsters out there, and to all of you who are hamster parents! πΉ Here is Roxy, a Russian Dwarf Hamster who was adopted by a member of our team and is loving her new life, and munching on mealworms!
Today we would like to share a few fun facts about hamsters to celebrate how wonderful they are:
In the wild, hamsters can burrow up to 3 FEET underground, creating multiple chambers. They may have one to store their food, one to sleep in, and a chamber for them to toilet in.
Hamsters are omnivores! This means their diet consists of a variety of different foods such as grains, insects, nuts, vegetables, seeds, and animal proteins.π₯πͺ±πΎπ₯¬
Hamsters can travel up to 5 miles at night in the wild, which is why a spacious enclosure, and a large running wheel is so essential to have in their enclosures.
Unlike humans, the healthy colour of hamster teeth will be yellow/orange, and if your hamsterβs teeth are white, it can signify malnutrition.π¦·
Hamsters have cheek pouches - which are expandable pockets to store as much food as possible. Since hamsters are prey animals, this adaptation allows them to quickly collect food, store it, and transport it to their burrows to eat later!π₯
We would love to see photos of your lovely hamsters below! π·π

Happy #NationalCarrotDay! π₯
Here are Mabel and Carrie, a pair of lovely female guinea pigs currently at our centre.πΎ
We are letting them celebrate this day by giving them a treat of delicious, shredded carrot, which they munched up instantly! π₯π₯
However, carrot should only be offered as a treat! Carrot is high in natural sugars and therefore, should be fed in moderation (e.g. no more than 1-2 times a week), to reduce the risk of diabetes and obesity.
Leafy greens, such as romaine lettuce, cilantro, parsley, mustard greens, and vegetables high in Vitamin C, such as bell pepper, celery and broccoli should be given daily. π₯¦π«π₯¬
Please share any photos or videos of your smalls enjoying a carrot treat! π₯
πΎ The Hertfordshire Team wish you a wonderful Easter! πΎ
We donβt have any chocolate eggs here at the centre but we do have scrambled eggs topped with parsley! π₯
Earlier in the week Hades enjoyed his Easter treat!ππ₯
Rats are an omnivorous species, which means that they can be offered a great variety of different foods in their diet.
Eggs are an excellent source of protein, and in moderation, can be offered to rats as a treat. π
Raw egg must never be fed to your rat, and must be cooked beforehand. With no oils/butter/salt added. Egg can be cooked in the microwave for a couple of minutes, mixed and cut into small chunks, and the left to cool down to a safe temperature to feed to your rats.
We hope you enjoy your Easter treats just as much as Hades! π£
