Abbey doing well today with some jumps πŸ‡πŸ’ž

05/12/2024

Sorry, its been a long time since I've posted anything!
Today I done some jumping with Abbey. She was a really good girl. We've been working on her keeping her settled and calm going over poles and she has cone on so well. Today we put the jumps up a bit higher. She stayed calm and no dashing off, but still lots to work on. Very please with her πŸ‡πŸ’ž

Apollo is doing very well with his training. His groundwork is very good and he has much more understanding. It wasn't that long ago that we had walk and GO ! Now we've establish a nice walk and a steady trot. Today we got a few strides of canter for the first time on request, which was steady and not pinging off ! πŸ‘Œ
Then I've been doing lots of belly over, with the owner leading him. And today we did it by ourselves πŸ˜ƒ He knew exactly what to do and what I was asking from him πŸ‘
Then also today, I rode him for the first time without the owner leading him. This is about the 3rd time I've sat on him, but the first time he's taking instruction just from me his rider πŸ‡
Such a lovely boy and the owner has a great bond and relationship with him. He is confident and listens. πŸ΄πŸ’ž

🐴 Yesterday I was asked to help with Lady at the mounting block. She had got in a habit of moving her bum to the side or fidgeting. So I broke it down in stages for her and gave lots of reward. And she stood nicely at different mounting blocks. Then the owner and her friend had a go too, and Lady walked up nicely and stood while they got on πŸ‘ŒπŸ˜Š

🐴Backing young Rosie 🐴 She was sat on about a year ago, by the owner, and been doing bits of groundwork since then but this is the first she has had a rider and asking her to move forward hy herself. She was great! Very trusting just sometimes a little confused (which is absolutely understandable) All the groundwork has really paid off of what the owner had previously done with her and she stands still very well. A lovely, sweet mare I look forward to continue her backing and training πŸ˜ŠπŸ‡

🐴 This is the gorgeous Ruby. 4 years old. She was very lightly backed by her owner and I have continued her training. Now she does a lovely walk, trot, canter and hacks out by herself confidently. πŸ’žπŸŽ

🐴 We had some moments when Apollo was confused, rebelling or trying to eat the grass. But he is very negotiable and I tried to make it clear for him to understand... and we got there. Walking around nicely then had a few trots too πŸ‘Œ

🐴 This is Apollo, and the second time I'd been over to work with him. He's an older horse being started but he had done some groundwork a few years ago, but not that much lately. So I took it that we were starting from scratch. However he'd remembered quite a bit and stood at the mounting block quietly and calmly, eventually long lined nicely and I've changed his bit because he was quite unsettled with it. Next time we'll work with the saddle on πŸ‘A lovely boy, lovely natured and getting ready for his ridden life πŸ‡

🐴 Just a polite reminder:
✳️ I work Monday to Friday.
✳️ I Usually from about 9.30am (after sorting my son out for school and then sorting my pony out )
✳️ I don't usually work weekends because of family commitments, and I also need a day off for all other life commitments and a rest.(I don't mind doing the odd weekend day though)
✳️ I usually finish around 5pm but, again, I have commitments as I'm a mum, so sometimes it's earlier. Therefore last customer would be at 4pm. But in the winter months it would probably need to be 3pm because of the lack of daylight.
✳️ I always need at least 24 hours notice of cancellation, whatever the reason. (Lost shoe, ill cat, got something else more important to do, or forgot) Full payment would still be required as someone else could have had that slot.
✳️ I'm getting quite busy but will do my best to fit you in, or I'll put you on my waiting list and get back to you when a slot comes available

Thanks for reading.

🐴 I was asked to come out to help with Hudson who point blank, refused to go in his lorry. The owner said he had been in there before but was usually to go to the vets. So maybe he had some memories of that.
After some persuasion Hudson got on the lorry with me. The ramp was very slippery and this probably contributed to his uncertainty of stepping onto it. But he got the gist that if he stepped up with momentum, the ramp was not an issue.
So he went in and out many times, and with his owner. Then we went for a trip up the road and back again, then asked him to load again. He questioned it again, but didn't take a few minutes to get him bouncing back in the box! πŸ‘

Hopefully she'll be as good on her outing on Sunday as she was today πŸ˜ŠπŸ΄πŸ’“

Elizabeth Rose with her owner, just popping on the lorry πŸ‘ŒπŸ΄ No problem 😊 πŸ΄πŸ’“

22/02/2024

🌧 So, out working in the rain today. Although I had nice little intervals of dryness so didn't get soaked! πŸ’¦ But I worked with Elizabeth Rose again, this time for loading training. Her owner said she'd been fine in a trailer but struggled to get her on a 7.5t lorry, and took 90 minutes the other day.
So when I lead her up to the lorry, she wasn't sure. No super scared or anything and no explosive behaviour. Just said no, stopped after putting her from feet on the ramp and swung her bum round. After 15 mins of this and some persuasion of hayledge, we were on and off the lorry woth no hesitation at all! Even a skip and jump onto the lorry. Calm, content and no rushing to get off. πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸ΄
Then asked her owner to lead her on there a couple of times. No problem πŸ‘Œ
We then went away for about 15 mins, put Elizabeth back in her stable to then see what she thought after some time had passed.
Well nothing exciting there! Just popped back on the lorry a few more times, a d we changed the partitions too and closed her in. No worries! πŸ˜ŠπŸ΄πŸ‘Œ

Murphy's first proper trot work in the menage. πŸ‘ŒπŸ‡πŸ’“
It took a while for the penny to drop. Sometimes you have to think outside the box to bridge the gap of understanding and willingness.
🐴 Every horse is difference and if something isn't working, ie your horse doesn't understand and isn't doing what you ask, there no is point shouting. And when they still don't do as you ask, there is no point shouting louder! And I mean that in a metaphorical way as literally.
Keeping yourself calm, and importantly your horse calm so he can listen and learn, be safe as well. So little requests and lots of reward!
We took Murphy out of the menage and encouraged him to trot undersaddle on the track on the yard first, with encouragement from his owner on the ground as well as my requests and a difference environment...we got some trot transitions. Then the next training session I asked him in the menage and he clicked πŸ‘πŸ‡
