I’m about to order another mirror after we lost one in a very bad storm a while ago, when I came across this wonderful poem from one of our liveries - the amazing artist ©️Maggie Raynor

'Mirror, mirror, on a stand
Who is the fairest in the land?'
'It isn't you!' the glass replied,
'You're leaning over to the side.
You ride with fists that wave about,
Your elbows and your toes stick out.
Your eyes are fixed upon your belly,
You wobble like a sack of jelly.
This isn't what you want to hear,
But you need to do some work my dear!

And so I gaze away at my reflection
Whilst concentrating on correction.
I drop my feet and stretch my spine
Til I achieve the magic line
That runs from ear, to hip, to heel.
I give the reins a lighter feel,
Which seems to make my pony smile
And trot around the school in style.
So, thank-you, 'Mirror on a Stand'
You've changed my mood from glum to grand!
I've now fulfilled my life's ambition-
To ride in classical position!

We’re thrilled to welcome Sasha Whitaker, our newest team member starting this October! Alongside working on the yard with Yard Manager Susie, Sasha brings over 25 years of experience as a BHSII and Centre 10 Advanced Coach, specialising in performance mindset and Intelligent Horsemanship.

Sasha has a wealth of experience in horse training, rehabilitation, and breeding, having worked as an evaluator for the Anglo European Studbook (AES), British Breeding, and The Sports Pony Stud Book Society. Her coaching focuses on helping riders sharpen their mental game, overcome challenges, and improve horse-rider communication.

In addition to her work at Cordwell, Sasha runs two businesses:

What a wonderful day yesterday attending the BHS annual awards where my amazing friend (& livery) THE Mrs Sally Wood was awarded the “unsung hero” award for all her unwavering and selfless hours given to the equine community and beyond.
Truly one of the best people ever 🥰🥰🥰
To be known going forward as “The awarding winning inimitable Sally wood” 😉😂
No one deserves it more ❤️

We had a wonderful day at the tractor run today in aid of Sheffield Children's Hospital ❤️
Organised by holmesfield and Barlow ploughing society & barlow hounds.
Over £2000 was raised thankyou to everyone’s generosity who we pointed our buckets at on route and all the amazing participants
And our amazing liveries for helping out 🥰
