“Thank heaven for Haven Hydrotherapy and Karen’s skills and patience with my terrier Archie.
The vet was unwilling to do surgery for his cruciate/patella injury because he had other medical issues and recommended hydrotherapy and physiotherapy .
Archie is quite a quirky character and was not keen but Karen’s patience has got him considering a cross channel swim !
I was very sceptical as to whether the no surgery option was going to be successful but he’s gone from 3 legs to chase games with his little brother in 8 weeks ..
We still have some work to do to get him sound and strong again but I’m so glad Karen convinced me that we can get him there “

Fabulous Friday ! These videos are incredible The first showing Levi before entering the pool he has a chronic ( long term ) 6 month lameness resulting in muscle atrophy .. .. he has been monitored by vets and his wise owners have decided to try hydrotherapy ,
The second video is absolutely astounding!
The moment Levi entered the pool he used his leg !
Whilst future maybe guarded for Levi if he can use the leg in the water there’s hope .
I have seen many special dogs over the years where this astonishing moment occurs
If we can get Levi weight bearing again he will be placing less strain on his opposing shoulder and leg
He has ALREADY starting placing his tip of-toe onto the floor at times and did on exit from first swim
He is loved deeply by his owners who want to try and get him back to his old self !

After our precious Honey being diagnosed with hip dysplasia and knee problems, we were devastated, she had obvious pain and discomfort and walking was difficult, she just didn't want to move, suffering muscle wastage on her back legs. After contacting Karen at Haven Hydrotherapy, we started intensive twice weekly swim sessions to strengthen and support in March. The difference in Honey's strength and muscle growth is astounding, she now has muscles and core strength and can walk without limping, she has got her spark back and being only 6 years old, we are excited for a strong dog for many years and having a fulfilled, happy, pain-free life. Timmy a five year old Kangal !
Kangals originally originate from Turkey they are formidable protectors of flocks from predators such as wolves and bears in some countries
They are common in Europe but less so here , most are rescues by kind people !
Every Kangal I have met has been a big kind giant !
Timmy had NEVER swum in his life and hates showers !
He has orthopaedic issues in his front left leg broken and possibly self healed before being rescued and his hind leg is causing gait and mobility issues also ..
This is a video of his very first swim ..
being heavily supported by myself in the water to help him feel very safe and reducing stress
Many things we all try can be anxious or worrying at first , so swimming dogs this way at first really makes them feel more confident..
Timmy needs to get back to an active lifestyle he’s really struggling right now

Good morning !
Bubbles a 5 year old ,little mixed breed rescue from Spain has come to Haven Hydrotherapy for restorative mobility
Her lovely owners agreed to rescue Bubbles from Spain , as a dog that was originally only able to walk on three legs , sadly and very unfortunately whilst in foster awaiting flight here she was savagely attacked in that environment and now is paraplegic
Only able to use front legs ,
We have at this stage a guarded prognosis but
as long as there’s hope we try , and after her first swim we have hope
There is a downward force in both hind legs but prominently in RH!
Over the years treated many cases like bubbles
and as difficult as start out many hundreds of these incredible dogs can and do make varying degrees of recovery.. Ted ..if you scroll back. a most recent case who started like this and now can stand and move around on his own with limited use of hind legs but he is mobile
Bubbles eyes are currently being treated and are beginning to heal again found in Spain in this horrific state , blessed to have taken on by her new owners who are just wonderful and working hard to give Bubbles the life she deserves
