Hazel a very qute Cavalier King Charles Spaniel came along for a confidence swim at just 5 months old !
Hazel was a little worried to start but then settled and ended her session really very confident!
What a great way to introduce your puppy to water so they can have a lifetime enjoying the water and safely too !

We were recommended Karen's services by our local Vet and I must say it was with scepticism we arranged to take Henry our Black Labrador to Haven Hydrotherapy as I couldn't see what benefit this could be to him .
However I must confess the difference in Henry has been remarkable!
From his first session when his eyes nearly popped out of their sockets when he entered the pool for the first time with fear to him now eagerly awaiting to get into the water each time now shows the trust he has built up with Karen .
The Bounce has now returned in his step and he has built up a remarkable difference in strength to his muscles in a comparatively small space of time and we would all like to thank you for the difference you have made to us all

Flashart is a small dog with a BIG energy he is a bouncing ball of fun and joy !

A four year old Collie x spaniel xpoodle x breed ..
he is experiencing right hind leg intermittent lameness issues
We will be carrying out an intensive course of strength /conditioning work to help stabilise his knee /hock and hips .

Hello Mickey !
Six year old miniature schnauzer Mickey is looking to resolve his potential cruciate issue
We are going to hopefully prevent ,
potentially surgery and or pro longed lameness by building up his quadriceps and general muscle building/tendon strength
Hydrotherapy can prevent partial tears from deteriorating which then does unfortunately always result in surgery

Jack Russell terrier Charlie here !
Charlie is 8 years old he’s holidaying here with his lovely family unfortunately he has been experiencing cruciate issues and we are alongside his hydrotherapy unit back at his home ,working hard to stabilise his knee to prevent surgery
He is so sweet and loved deeply by his owners who’s commitment to him is shown by continuing his treatment whilst their on holiday !

Duchess has succeeded in her bilateral TTA recovery !

Tibial Tuberosity Advancement for cranial cruciate damage this is an operative procedure to correct this issue
You may remember Duchess came as was struggling post surgery ..we are now on maintenance swims only ..to reduce the time she needs to swim but very importantly to maintain the muscle she has worked so hard to build up !
Duchess is one of the most regal swimmers I have ever swum ! She moves beautifully in the water so gracefully and with strength, but she does not like to splash or get her beautiful head wet !
Duchess by name and nature!
This lovely poodle is such s character and has done incredibly well here !

Hello to Donut a Miniature daschund
Two years 5 months old Donut had a malformation of her left hind leg so has had corrective surgery to her Tibia
We are working in the pool to strengthen her leg post surgery and just as importantly to protect her opposing leg from strain and potential knee issues
She is so qute ! Donut although not looking too impressed actually had a brave and positive first swim !
We will keep you posted on her progress!

When Charlie joined Haven in May of this year at 8 years old struggling with “intermittent lameness and difficulty in extension hind legs” in his vet notes
He was struggling…
Here he is four months later raising money for Alzheimer UK in honour of his lovely owners Grandad
He completed his 5 K memory walk yesterday in Bristol !
and came in today for hydrotherapy sprightly and doing so well
Well done Charlie we know hydrotherapy is not your favourite thing to do .. but wow look at you now !
Thank you to his owners for their perseverance knowing the benefits it would bring to Charlie’s life
He’s a wonderful dog who has touched me with his braveness
Well done Charlie dog so proud of you !

Smiley face Tavey today LOVING her hydrotherapy
Tavey is 14 years old in three weeks
She is is very mobile for her age ..but
Swimming to assist stiffness / mobility issues she has been recently encountering
Tavey also has a heart condition (DCM )
This does stop any dog from swimming,
(With veterinary approval )
gentle diligently carried out , swimming also conditions the heart and lungs so this will help Tavey too !

All dogs are pulse /heart rate tested &/or respiration checked whilst swimming

It’s NEVER to late to start , each dog has a program designed specifically for them
Taking into account their ..
Clinical status , history ,age, ability, fitness level and even breed as some dogs brachycephalic for example , eg bulldogs , pugs etc may find exercise a little harder so we reduce accordingly! But they all always gain the same result !

Glen a sweet 9 year old X breed is attending hydrotherapy to help his intermittent lameness issues in his right forehand right hind
He a good swimmer used to board swimming!and we’ve seen improvement already !
Hydrotherapy will help prevent some arthritic damage potentially occurring further

Heading into colder weather ,this winter Glen will be feeling stronger and more stabilised
It is instability /incongruity within the joint causing inflammation /damage
which causes pain in turn resulting in lameness
Building up the muscles through hydrotherapy
Serves to tighten and support the joints ..tendons/ligaments

Cully a young Bedlington terrier

Mabel ! Such a sweet pup !
Mabel /cocker spaniel is almost 6 months old
Mabel came along for a confidence and 1st swim
She was incredible!
Plus she’s already had a beach trip since her swim and is gaining confidence around water at an early age !
Whether old or young ..even if they’re very anxious around water
Swimming in a controlled environment can change a dogs perspective on swimming and invariably they go on to LOVE hydrotherapy and swimming!

Incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bubbles after a tough few months of compounded clinical issues and illness is taking yet another milestone ! Bubbles has stronger use of both hind legs and is at home able to stand up at times and hold balance !
And thoroughly enjoying her life with her wonderful owners who love her deeply

My own handsome boy (my biggest baby) attends hydrotherapy at Haven Hydrotherapy with the lovely Karen. He has come on so well since he started going and I really cannot recommend Karen enough. He absolutely hates water and she is so patient. Half an hour out of his life every week is making an amazing difference to his arthritis and he is able to do things again that he couldn’t before. Forever grateful.❤️

Ps. He also hates his bright pink hat 😂
