1️⃣ **Never use human shampoo** on a dog! Human skin has a pH of 5-6.5, while dog skin is closer to 7.5-8. Using human shampoo can irritate their skin, so it’s always best to use products made for dogs. 🐾
2️⃣ **Rinse, rinse, rinse**! Proper rinsing is crucial to avoid leaving any residue that could lead to irritation or dryness.
3️⃣ A **healthy coat** is vital for temperature regulation. A well-groomed, clean coat provides an insulating layer, keeping pets comfortable in all seasons. 🌡️

❗WARNING TO ALL DOG OWNERS❗

Please be extremely careful when walking your dogs on the beach, as hemlock water-dropwort has been found washing up on beaches along the Cornish coast, including Sandymouth and Middle beach.

Hemlock water-dropwort is highly toxic to dogs, cats and people. It can be identified as a dark green plant with tiny white flowers in clusters, whereas hemlock roots can often be mistaken for parsnips. Eating any part of the plant can poison your pet, with the roots being highly toxic.

The most common symptoms of hemlock water-dropwort poisoning include:

> Drooling
> Weakness
> Tremors
> Fits
> Vomiting
> Diarrhoea

In severe cases, it can affect the nervous system, causing breathing difficulties, paralysis, and can be FATAL.

If you think your pet has come into contact with hemlock water-dropwort, seek veterinary care IMMEDIATELY.

We recommend keeping dogs on leads in areas where hemlock water-dropwort has potentially been identified as a precaution, and please be extra vigilant when out walking.
