Second Chance For Cats - N.E. Wales contacted me because they wanted me to help groom Tootsie who's 20 years old. Tootsie came into their care because her dad had unfortunately become too unwell to look after her properly. 😿😿

Tootsie had a large amount of matting on her back and her claws were pretty long, the rescue wanted her to have a pampurr session to make her feel more comfortable. This lovely girl is in permanent foster care now with a loving mum. I initially went to see if I could groom Tootsie three days after arriving at her foster home but she was still hiding in her safe space under the sofa, I decided that it would stress her too much to do the groom at that time. I think she's was still upset/confused that she wasn't in her usual home with her dad 💟💟

I returned three days later and although Tootsie was still nervous she settled down very quickly on the grooming table. She absolutely loves a fuss so I made sure I gave her lots of attention in between the grooming 😻😻
I gradually clipped the large matted pelt off of her back/sides, combed through the rest of her fur, trimmed her claws and cleaned her ears. She did so well and kept very calm during the groom ❤️❤️

Tootsie has arthritis so the rescue is making sure she gets what she needs to keep her comfortable and she's thriving in her new home 😻😻

Young M c**n Nori had her first groom with me last week. She's a lovely girl but very wriggly! 🤣🤣

She's not a fan of being groomed by her human so she had a bit of matting. Her mum didn't think I'd be able to get the mats off but we managed it and I gave her coat a good comb through and I trimmed her claws too. 🐾🐈

Nori quite liked the lick e Lix which distracted her a bit during the groom but not for long, she had other cat business to do! 🤣🤣

Betsy is a regular on my grooming table. She's still not happy with our sessions, even on a mild sedative she gives me some swipes and tries the odd nip! 🤣🤣

Betsy's fur is high maintenance, she doesn't allow her humans or me to comb her so we maintain it every three months by clipping it. I tried the combing method for a while but after the second bite from Betsy we decided on just clipping her. Even then it's not particularly tidy but it keeps her mat free 🐈🐾

Betsy was happy when the groom was over, she never hangs around for long when she's finished! 🤣🤣

It's been a very M C**n heavy month, not that I'm complaining as I do love them! This beautiful girl is Stella, she had her first groom with me last week. Her humans have been trying to keep on top of her fur but unfortunately some mats had built up. 💟💟

Stella was happy to see me when I arrived, she wanted a lot of fuss so of course I obliged 😻😻 She wasn't quite as thrilled when I started grooming her but she still did very well 💟💟

Stella isn't keen on having her trousers combed so that's where the mats were mainly. The rest of her fur was in pretty good condition so I gave it a good comb through, trimmed her claws and cleaned her ears. 🐾🐈

Once the groom was over she chilled out in the lounge on the window sill so I took the opportunity to take some photos 😻😻

This gorgeous girl is Flo, she is an 18 month old Persian who had her first groom with me recently. She was rescued by her new dad after spending her life in cat hoarder's house. Flo had some matting and he was concerned she would be too nervous to groom. 💟💟

Flo hid when I arrived so I just set my equipment up in the bedroom to see if she'd venture in. She wasn't particularly interested in me so when I was ready her dad brought her in. She had an initial panic but she soon realised I was there to help her ❤️❤️

Flo is a gentle girl, and her coat is glorious; I love the colours in her fur!
I gradually clipped the matting away that was underneath her and some around her trousers. I also combed through her coat removing a large amount of undercoat. She had her claws trimmed too. 🐾🐈

Once the groom was finished she was a bit more confident, she investigated my equipment so I took a few photos of her. Isn't she beautiful 😍😍

Apollo had his maintenance groom with me recently, it was slightly late but his fur wasn't too bad. 💟💟

Apollo has been on a diet and is doing well on his weight loss ❤️❤️ He's never that keen on our grooms but I give him breaks when he needs and distract him with Lick e Lix. 😋😋

I was able to comb out most of the small mats and I gave him a hygiene trim much to his disgust! 🤬🤬 I combed though Apollo's fur removing quite a bit of undercoat and trimmed his claws. 🐾🐈

His shorthaired feline companion George had his claws trimmed. I never manage to get a photo of George, he's a good boy for the claw trim but he vanishes as soon as he's allowed to go! 🤣🤣

Harrison was on my grooming table recently, he had a few mats in his thick coat so he needed some of his fur clipped. 💟💟

Harrison is used to our sessions but he doesn't really enjoy them! He gave me about 10-15 minutes while I clipped the obvious mats then he started to get wriggly. Luckily he likes lick e Lix so this distracted him while I combed a large amount of undercoat out. 🐾🐈

I also clipped his claws, cleaned his ears and eyes. Harrison was well behaved but he was pretty done with the session. Luckily the groom was finished, he happily relaxed by the dining table so I took the opportunity to take a couple of photos! 😻😻

Chloe is on a 10 week maintenance schedule, she's a devil when it comes to being groomed so she's on a mild sedative so I can safely groom her. 🐾😺

Chloe still grumbles while I'm grooming her so the sedative is not totally effective, but her humans distract her with her favourite Lick e Lix treats too. 🤣🤣 With this approach we get the groom done in about 30 minutes, Chloe is happy and so is her mum. Chloe always poses so nicely after her groom 😻😻

This gorgeous girl is Ruby, she's a M C**n girl and this was her first session with me. Ruby was rescued by her new mum earlier this year, she's not a fan of certain areas being groomed so there were some small mats. 🐾🐈

Ruby did pretty well considering her mum thought I wouldn't be able to do very much with her! I think once she realised it wasn't anything too bad she settled down. I trimmed her claws, clipped out the small mats and gradually combed through her very thick coat. 😺🐾

Ruby had a few breaks during the groom which helped keep her calmer.
I got almost all the groom done before Ruby decided my time was up 🤣🤣 I didn't want to make the grooming experience a negative thing for her so finishing the groom was the best thing for Ruby 💟💟

Sooty is a 16 year old, domestic longhaired cat. She is a newbie to this grooming malarkey. Her fur had gotten a bit matted on her back so she needed my help to make her feel better. 💟💟

Sooty was a bit wriggly during the groom but she did really well. I trimmed her claws and clipped the big mats off of her back. I also combed through the rest of Sooty's fur to remove the dead fur and any small knots. 🐾🐈

Once the groom was finished I could see she felt much more comfortable, she even came back to me for a fuss 😻😻

Bandit is nearly 20 years old, she's a regular on my grooming table but is still not a fan. Her fur is still so thick she needs regular maintenance grooms to keep the mats at a minimum 💟💟

Bandit had the usual small mats on her underside and armpits so I removed these with clippers. I gave her claws a trim and removed a massive pile of undercoat with the comb. 😱😱

Bandit has the odd grumble during the groom especially when I groom her trousers. I trimmed her pantaloons too to keep her tidy. She does really well as long as her mum is there to support her ❤️❤️

Bandit always hides briefly after her groom but she is easily persuaded to come out with some of her favourite food 😋😋

This 20 year old boy is Mo, he's got some arthritis and was having difficulty with his fur matting. He was a first timer on my grooming table and he did brilliantly. 💟💟

Mo absolutely loved a fuss, the mats on his back were very thick and tight to his skin so I had to edge them off slowly with the clippers. It was obviously uncomfortable because as they came off Mo licked the air or the blanket. 💟💟

Once I got the big mats off I combed through the rest of his fur, clipped his claws and cleaned his ears. Mo was very thankful afterwards, he willingly came back to me for a fuss and a bit more lick e Lix! 😻😻

Maverick wasn't the cat I was supposed to groom during this visit! I was supposed to groom his feline housemate Mylo. Mylo's mum said he'd been with her all day while she was working and when he heard the door he must've known what was going to happen and managed to squeeze himself behind a kitchen cupboard! 😂😂

Maverick also had mats, I'd been told that Mylo is less friendly so his mum said I could have the challenge of grooming Maverick instead. I took on this challenge, his mum was right Maverick isn't a fan of grooming but I got the mats removed and gave his coat a good comb through as much as he'd let me!

Maverick's review of our session was he disliked the grooming but enjoyed sniffing my grooming bag and playing with the valerian pillow that I left. 😂😺

Bleu had his maintenance groom with me recently, he's pretty much fully grown now and is a big boy! 😺🐈

Bleu still doesn't like his grooming sessions with me but he gets a bit better with each visit. I gave his claws a trim and combed out quite a bit of dead undercoat. 😺🐾

This session is only possible with a bit of bribery (lick e Lix) and a few breaks. Bleu is pretty chatty when he has his trousers combed, he says, "no thank you", followed by a grumble and usually an escape from the table where we then play hide and seek! 😂😂

Elderly, lady, Lola was recently rescued by her new mum. She's a Birman and had a bit of a matted coat so her mum wanted to give her a pampurr session. 🐾💟

Lola was a bit of a wriggler at first but once she knew I was trying to help her, she settled down nicely. I trimmed her claws, shaved the matting which was mainly on her sides and trousers. I gave the rest of her coat a good comb through too which will prevent further mats building up anytime soon. 🐾😺

Once the groom was finished, Lola's mum gave her a treat of some squeezy cheese which she thoroughly enjoyed😋😋

Molly is a 16 year old British shorthair girl, she just about tolerates her groom as long as she has a treat and her mum giving her a fuss, this helps sweeten the process! 😂😂

Molly chatted all throughout the groom as usual, she loved having her face/back combed so I made sure I kept going back to that regularly to keep her happier. 😺🐾

As always, I managed to get out a massive pile of dead undercoat with the comb, her mum said she was shedding a lot! 😱😱 Molly had her claws trimmed and dears cleaned to complete the full pampurr experience. She doesn't look too happy but she must feel much lighter without all that dead fur. 🐾😺

Little Princess is an older girl who gets matted if she's not on a regular maintenance grooming schedule. I visit her every 10-12 weeks to keep on top of her fur. 🐾😺

Princess is a wriggly little bean and shouts at me during the groom but she does love a good fuss. She also LOVES lick e Lix. 😋😋

Princess's fur is growing back really slowly after having a lion cut well over 8 months ago due to extensive matting. This is the risk of shaving mats because it could take a while for the fur to grow back.

I clipped Princess's claws and gave her coat a good comb through, there was plenty of dead coat that I removed even with her fur being shorter. I could only get photos of Princess while she was licking after enjoying two tubes of her favourite treat! 😋😋

Lorcan had his maintenance groom with me recently. He's ultra cute but not the greatest cat when it comes to being groomed. 🐾😺

Lorcan usually has a lion cut to maintain his coat because he is absolutely fine with being shaved but dislikes being combed. For some reason I thought it would be a good idea to give him a comb cut to make his fur shorter but not closely shaved. This was not the wisest move and I won't be doing this again 😂😂

This sort of style is for patient cats only and Lorcan isn't patient at all so it was a silly decision. Anyway, he still looks very cute but we'll be returning to lions cuts in future! 😂🦁

Dexter and Vince are two M C**n brothers who are new to the grooming experience with me. They are gorgeous boys but can be pickles for their humans when it comes to being groomed so they had a few mats. 😺🐾

Vince was up first by default because Dexter ran away! Their mum told me that Vince is the calmer of the two so this was to be expected. Vince had quite a few smaller mats through is whole coat on his back/sides so I had to clip quite a bit of the fur. I also gave his claws a trim and combed through the rest of the fur. In the end Vince didn't actually want to get off of my table, I think he quite enjoyed the fuss in the end! 😻😻

Dexter was eventually found by his mum, once he got settled on the table he actually did very well. He was a bit more matted than Vince so I clipped more of his fur. I need to return to clip a mat from the inside of his rear legs and a couple on his chest, he'd run out of his kitty patience timer so it was best to return at a later date to do this.

They are the most handsome boys 😻😻

This is Skippy, he's a domestic, long-haired cat. I groom Skippy every 10-12 weeks, because he doesn't like his mum doing it. 🐈🐾

I've come a long way with Skippy, he's not the easiest cat to groom, but we've made it work. I have to use lick e lix to distract Skippy during the groom, this way I can actually get the groom completed. 💟💟

I gave Skippy's fur a good comb through and trimmed his mane. Skippy doesn't like his trousers being groomed but when he is offered lick e lix, this makes it manageable. 💟💟

Once the groom was over he hid under some small tables which is his usual thing to do after a groom. Skippy's mum has a new rug for Skippy to ruin with his claws, Skippy loves this new addition so he was happy sunning himself on this new rug! 😂😂

Tomos is a very large, domestic long-haired cat. I groom him twice a year, he always gets a lion cut, because he hates being combed. If he doesn't get his way he bites! 🐾😺

We manage Tomos by using lick e lix otherwise he will still attempt to bite and swipe. Tomos' fur was quite thick, it was starting to clump so this groom was needed to prevent the mats. I shaved the coat, tackled his stinky trousers and combed through the little fur he had left 🐾🐈

Tomos can be quite nervous during the groom but he did very well, as long as the Lick e Lix were being offered! 😂😂

Sophie is a Persian mix so she has a very dense coat. I've groomed her several times before and she's always very vocal! 😂😂

We'd left it too long in between grooms so her fur was very thick on the sides and underneath so I had to shave most of it because her fur was too thick to comb through. I combed the rear of her fur, clipped Sophie claws and cleaned her ears and eyes. 🐈🐾

Sophie was relieved that the groom was over, she initially sat and groomed herself but then hid to behind the sofa! 😂😂

These two girls are such sweeties; Magic is the Persian Chinchilla and Chloe is the British shorthair. 😻😻

Magic is the youngster and is pretty well behaved for her groom. She has a good wriggle here and there but quite likes the fuss. I managed to comb out a massive amount of undercoat, I clipped a couple of small mats, trimmed her claws and believe it or not I cleaned under her eyes (not that it looks like I did!). 😂😂

Chloe is a more mature lady, she doesn't like to be fussed with but she does really well for her groom. She was very tufty to start with so to get a smooth coat is quite hard work. I gave Chloe plenty of breaks and made sure I combed her face plenty of times (she loves it!) Chloe had her claws trimmed, ears and eyes cleaned. 🐾🐈

Both girls looked fabulous after their grooms 💟💟

Mia had her maintenance groom with me recently, she had quite a bit of undercoat build up and some matted areas on her underside and lower part of her sides. 😺🐾

Mia is pretty used to our sessions and is mostly well behaved. Her coat was lumpy so I made my way through it with the various sized combs to reduce the lumps gradually. I clipped the built up areas too to make it easier for Mia. 💟💟

Mia was quite happy after her groom, she accepted some fuss and even asked me to give her some food while I was in the kitchen. 😻😻

Jovi is a British longhaired boy, I've groomed him about 5 times and each time he gets better with his behaviour. 💟💟 Jovi was initially very reactive to being handled during the groom and used to try and bite me, he didn't do this at all during this session. 🎊🎉

Jovi had some mats in his trousers which needed to be clipped, this is an area that he usually reacts but with the help of Lick e Lix to distract him I was able to clip the mats and give his trousers a good comb though. I combed through the rest of his coat and trimmed his claws too. 🐈😺

Jovi actually didn't want to get off of my table, I think he wanted more lick e Lix rather than enjoying the groom 🤣🤣

To all kitty slaves.... Wow what a week, in four days I've groomed 15 gorgeous cats 😻😻. Where I've had such busy days grooming, I've tried to reply to as many messages as possible but I know I'm behind slightly. Please bear with me if you are waiting for me to contact you about grooming your cat. I try to reply to texts, FB messages, emails or What's App messages pretty quickly in-between grooms or when I get back home. If you call me and leave a voicemail message it takes me longer to reply to these as I have to sit down and make more time to do this so I can concentrate on the information in the call. So I'd recommend contacting me by text, What's App, FB messages or email if you are looking for a more rapid reply. Please remember there is only me replying to messages in between me grooming and driving to grooms. This week I've driven over 400 miles so I can provide a fabulous service to all your lovely kitties. I will be replying to any outstanding messages on Saturday and then I'm giving myself Sunday off to relax 😎😎. I hope you all have a great weekend. ❤️❤️

I hope everyone is keeping cool in this heat. As I've said previously I chose not to work yesterday and today because it's just too much of a risk to the cat's welfare to groom in this heat 🥵🥵, so I'm doing my self assessment taxes at home. I've been putting off doing my tax assessment for a while so this was a good opportunity to get it done and not have that end of year panic!! 🤯🤯 I'm also here to make sure that my four kitties are keeping cool. The things that I have done for them to make sure it's as cool as possible inside are: 🐈‍⬛ Fill up their two water fountains so they have access to plenty of cold water. You can put ice cubes in the water too. 🐈Put wet towels down so they can lay on them. I also wipe them down if they accept it. 🐈‍⬛ Close the curtains.to keep the sun out, have the windows open for a breeze and put the fan on to circulate the air 🐈 I froze some Lik e liks cat yoghurt treats, the video is of my two boys thoroughly enjoying them. These are the same two boys who don't get on that well but when there's food around they can settle their differences 😹😹 What are you a doing to keep you are your cat family cool? 😺🐾
