Hello

I’ve been asked today to see if I can help rehome a beautiful 5yr old male springer spaniel, sadly the owner has passed away.

He’s a sociable fun loving dog with good recall and willing to please. Trained by his owner to be a ‘beater dog’, hunt out pheasants.

As you can appreciate , it’s incredibly sad when an owner passes so looking to find someone willing and patiently committed to giving this boy a loving forever home.

Do you remember my post from last year about the man and his little dog? Well this morning I had the honour to meet and say hello to this lovely gentleman and the dear little dog, Tara.
She’s 14yrs and one of many dogs Brian and his dear late wife have owned. Through our chat, he told me they also bred golden retrievers, they had 5 which I happily said, I have 3.
I explained he made me smile most mornings seeing him walk his dog in unison.
I could have happily chatted for hours, such a lovely encounter.
I watched them slowly walk away. Thank you, Brian & Tara, a real pleasure to meet you both and a wonderful start to a day 🥰

What an amazing story 🥰

The indomitable Camberley Kate, aka Kate Ward, and her stray dogs in England 1962.
Camberley Kate was born on June 13, 1895 in Middlesbrough. Orphaned before the age of ten, she was raised by an aunt in a strict religious atmosphere. As a young girl she went into service and eventually found her way to Camberley. In later years she once claimed to have been head cook at the RMC at the time of the Battle of the Somme, even though she was only 21 years old.
She also mentioned that she knew what it was like to be homeless.
In 1943, Kate bought a cottage in Yorktown and soon took in her first stray, a dog that was about to be euthanized because of lameness.
Over time, the number of dogs in her home grew - some tied to her door, others left in carriers, others brought to her by police or other authorities. By the end of her life, she estimated that she had cared for more than 600 dogs.
Kate and her olive green handcart marked "STRAY DOGS" were a familiar sight in the area as she pushed it from Yorktown to Camberley every day.
She died on August 4, 1979.

I have the best job in the world.

But when a day comes that you lose one of your amazing dogs, it’s truly heartbreaking. Not only have I had the privilege to know him, love, walk, play and care for him for 6 years, I’ve made 2 great friends during that time too. Sweet dreams dearest Dillon, you will be so very much missed. 🌈 RiP
