With the current hot weather we’re experiencing please be mindful of the dangers it could have on your pets, it’s far better to skip the walk than to risk heatstroke 🐾

Here are some tips to help you ensure your furry friend stays comfortable:

🐶 Provide Ample Water 🐾 Always keep fresh, cool water available for your dog to prevent dehydration.

🐶 Shade 🐾 Make sure your dog has access to shaded areas to escape the direct sun.

🐶 Limit Exercise 🐾 Avoid walkies during the hottest parts of the day to prevent overheating.

🐶 Cooling Mats or Cooling Vests 🐾 Consider using cooling mats or vests to help lower your dog’s body temperature.

🐶 Avoid Hot Surfaces 🐾 Pavements can get very hot and burn your dog’s paws.

🐶 Grooming 🐾 Regular grooming, such as brushing or trimming long fur, can help your dog stay cooler.

🐶 Car Safety 🐾 Never leave your dog in a hot car, as temperatures can quickly become lethal.

🐶 Frozen Treats 🐾Treat your dog with frozen treats like ice cubes or dog-friendly frozen yogurt to help them cool down.

🐶 Air Circulation 🐾 Ensure good air circulation in your home or provide a fan for your dog’s comfort.

🐶 Monitor for Signs of Overheating 🐾 Watch for signs of heatstroke, such as excessive panting, drooling, or lethargy, and seek immediate veterinary attention if necessary.

From the 10th June 2024, it is a legal requirement for all cats (even indoor only!!) to be microchipped in the UK. This law has taken a while to get passed, but we are SO happy it has!

Microchips are a small rice grain size implant, which is inserted just below the skin. This stays in place life long, and does not emit any kind of radiation - they are simply a code which can then be traced to you on a national database!

Today is Yellow Dog Day 💛

A yellow dog is one who wears a yellow vest, lead flag, or bandana. Sometimes yellow leads and harnesses too. There can be many reasons why a dog wears yellow:

💛Anxious
💛Dog/People reactive
💛Healing from surgery

Today Sven paraded his ‘I need space’ bandana to show everyone that yellow dogs can still be wonderful dogs they just need a little space out on their walks!

Sven can be worried by dogs so he wears his bandana to communicate this so people don’t let their dogs run up to him. This helps Sven to feel safe so he can walk past them without worrying. Advocating for our dogs is really important.
