Bruce 🤩

Big recognition post! 🌟 Bruce is a sweet boy with an extremely loving nature. His recall is fantastic and he learns quickly. But Bruce is one of many dogs who suffers and battles daily with reactive behaviour. This, making him quite a hyperactive boy who struggles to focus. Triggers are still a mystery but he has improved tremendously over the past several months. As group sessions can be stressful at times for Bruce, his owner Claire has been attending 1-2-1 sessions instead. On Sunday, Bruce showed outstanding control with the use of some agility. You can see in the video how engaged he is with Claire but most importantly how calm he is. Reactive behaviour is always a rollercoaster. Just when you think you’ve cracked it, they have a bad day 🤷🏻‍♀️ but never feel like you’ve failed or that they’ve forgotten everything because a bad day is normal with reactive dogs. It’s important to keep going and remember that it’s not their fault and you can only ever do your best! The trick is to never take your eye off the ball and always be prepared. Fantastic work from Lucy and Dottie 👏🏼 Dottie has been learning how to follow commands through whistle training 😗 Lucy has Dottie on a long line lead which is fantastic for training in big open spaces. This allows Dottie to have the opportunity to make right decision but she’s still controlled 🙌🏼 Great work team 🧡

Lucy and Dottie

👏🏼 Fantastic work by Lucy and Dottie 👏🏼 Taking puppies/dogs 🐶 in training to busy, local environments is so important 🙌🏼 Even if you don’t necessarily need to go to these places yourself, it is a fantastic way to get your little ones used to being around people, children, other dogs. They will also learn other sounds, scents and an understanding of how to behave in public places 🫡😊 This video was taken in an outdoor shopping centre 🏬 🛍️ you can see Dottie taking in the environment in a very controlled and polite manner 🤗 Lucy continued to praise Dottie each time someone passed. This positive reinforcement is so important for our little ones ✌🏼 Some dogs aren’t as responsive to verbal praise so you could always try - 🍗 high value treat 🎾 a favourite toy 👋🏼 stroke/pats If you want to test your dogs and get them out of their usual routine of parks, seaside you could try - 🐕🚶🏻‍♂️ local shopping centres 🐩🚶🏻‍♀️ walking through town centres 🐕‍🦺🚶🏽‍♂️ indoor and outdoor dog friendly cafes 🦮🚶🏼‍♀️ different modes of transport - get the bus or take the train 🐾 🐕‍🦺🚶🏽organised events like fairgrounds 🎪 #takethelead #taketheleaddogtraining #dogtraining #obedience

Kaye, making full use of the extendable lead as a long line to practice Meeko’s recall with other dogs playing fetch on the other side of the field. Please do not use extendable leads to walk your dogs this exercise is the only exercise I would recommend you use an extendable lead.
