This is Betty

We caught her after reports Betty was turning up on an allotment and slipping into a shed to curl up in a comfy makeshift bed

She would turn up every morning at 8am like clockwork for a good snooze and a break from the biting cold. This made her easy to catch, and after confirmation Betty had arrived and curled up to sleep the next morning, we made our way to her

We shut ourselves in the shed so she couldn't escape us, and she calmly walked out of her cozy cardboard box bed and into our transfer

She's had enough, she's covered in mange and recently, life has become hard for the poor vixen

That ends now, we have her at the hospital and she's wasting no time tucking into her meals and curling up for a proper sleep. We've started treatment and we're confident we can turn her life around

You got this Betty 🧡

We've 4 foxes from the hospital up for release this week

A huge well done to Clyde - Crumpet - Mack and Sunshine

All 4 foxes where headed beyond veil when we caught them, and now they are fighting fit and time with us has come to an end. Each individual has completed a special treatment plan. They've battled the odds and come out of the other side, and now it's time for us to take them home for a second chance in the wild. Right before mating season too 😉

Good luck Clyde, good luck Crumpet, Mack, and Sunshine. Be careful out there, and may the fox be with you 🧡

Introducing a very special fox

This is Daisy

Unlike any other fox you'll meet, Daisy has a unique fondness of humans

We rescued her as an orphaned cub when she was around 4 months old. When we found her, she was alone and struggling to stand. She was wandering into roads and completly vulnerable to the world. She really didn't look good so we were quick out of the van and scooped her up. At the centre, we thought we were going to lose her she was so poorly

One night, we thought the time had come, she was completly flat and her heart rate was so slow, her gums where pale and she just looked lifeless despite our continued intervention. We took it in turns to give her comfort in what we thought was goodbye, because she was so young, we had seen this many times before, and so we played birdsong and made her blankets extra cozy

After a very long night, the next morning, a different fox emerged, and she opened her eyes to greet us. There was no fear in her eyes, no urge to flee or cower or defend herself. Just a curious look, almost as if she was saying hello 👋

All the while, we had confirmed and started treatment for toxoplasmosis immediately after her vet visit days earlier and it seemed miraculously at the point all hope was lost a corner had been turned. Not only that, but she is immediately and completly obsessed with us, and people, and despite an earlier effort to rewild her after her change of mind on the whole human issue, she remained a playfull, fun-loving fox, akin only to a silly puppy.

We've seen toxoplasmosis have varying degrees of permanent effect before, but Daisy is just out of this world happy, and In the right setting, she is capable of having the best quality of life because she loves everyone and everything. She is all sunshine and rainbows and She is a very happy soul. She has no idea how vulnerable she is as a happy playful fox who loves humans (and peanut butter bubbles) along with her potential for a good quality of life this is enough for us to justify finding her a permanent place to live

Here's to you daisy, well done 😘🧡

Introducing Sunshine

We caught sunshine with a net after she was reported to us by a school. She was wondering around aimlessly with her head tilted

It looked as if she was unable to turn right, and would spin around in circles. It didn't take long to catch her, as the poor vixen was hardly even aware we were there. At that time, she was completly vulnerable to the harsh realities of the world

We got her back to the hospital and after an examination we started treatment straight away. She's now making huge improvements. We've moved her out of isolation and she's enjoying her time with us in one of the outside pens while we continue to monitor her progress. She's become feisty, wich we want, and she's making it clear she's fully aware of our presence now, and her responses have improved exponentially

She's a little way to go, but we're confident we'll be taking her home soon

Keep it up Sunshine 🧡

Introducing Crumpet

Origninaly reported to us as a collapsed fox at a school, Crumpet has very much given us the the run around

At the school location, we arrived to find Crumpet not collapsed, but on top of a second story fire escape. With no way down except past us or through the bars leading to a 14 foot drop, we had no choice but to wait at the bottom for him to prevent him panicking and squeezing the railings high up. Sure enough he came down slow and at the last step zoomed past us. Then the chase started. It was round the school grounds twice and out into the public where it seemed Crumpet had the upper hand as he ducked and dived through the gardens

After a cluple of hours he got away from us, and just before he slipped through a gap where we couldn't follow, we exchanged a look as if to say "see you soon"

2 days later we get a call and a video from who reported a fox running around the car park looking rather unwell. It was Crumpet. We got all of our gear together and made our way expecting another chase, and he did not disappoint

We had doctors nurses are care staff all there and waiting to help. We were determined he was not getting away a second time, and after 1 hour around the car park in and out of various cover, over some fences and through the buildings, we finaly managed to corner Crumpet and catch him with the net

He's covered in mange, and on closer examination, has several abcess on his rear with cavity so large we could drain them from his back. Crumpet was a fox on a timer. It didn't stop him getting away initialy, as when fear and panic kick in a fox can bolt regardles

He's safe with us now, and we're working on resolving his health issues. He's settled in and doing very well, and we'll likley be looking at releasing him in 3-4 weeks time if he continues to improve. For now he's staying put ✋️

We'd like to thank all of the staff at st Catherins hospital for their efforts in helping us secure him, without their efforts it's unlikley we'd have caught him on that day

Now you stay right there until you're better young man

Here's Clyde - kennel 3

Part of Olaf's gang (who we treated and released last month) Clyde is suffering with mange, but he also has multiple abcess on his rump warranting hospitalisation with us

He's not the worst affected out of the 4 foxes we are working to treat in this group (olaf included) but he is suffering. His capture has come at a good time, as with open sores it wouldn't have been long before things progressed and poor Clyde went down hill

He's okay though, we've started treatment and it won't be long before he's back out with his siblings, 3/4 of wich are already enjoying their new lives mange free

You've got this Clyde 🧡

Coming in at an impressive 10kg - it's Moose

When we caught moose he was unable to walk in a straight line

He was down and out, and he was completly unaware of our presence despite us being only feet away with a net. He was wondering aimlessly, and he was not responding at all appropriately to his environment or like a fox should. It wouldn't have been long before he ended up under a car or worse

His unfortunate position at the time made him straight forward to catch and contain. He's with us now and responding well to treatment. He's a sweet natured gentle giant of a fox, which we can see underneath his recent and most welcome fearfull reactions to us. He's coming round nicely, and at this rate it won't be long before we are taking home

Keep it up moose ❤️

This is Bug

We caught her in a trap we set for another fox with a concerning wound

Despite having never seen her on the camera we had out in the location, along came bug and she went straight in our trap. It'll be a quick turn around for her - it doesn't look it here but she is covered in mange and with one or two sores we need to address before we can take her home

She's doing very well though, and it would only have been down hill had we not caught her. She doesnt know it, but it was the best decision she's ever made to wander into our trap, when we release her it'll be with a clean bill of health

Here's Minnie

We caught her in a trap after she was turning up in a garden displaying some worrying behaviour

She's been suffering with a mange infection, and as well as that, she has a number of puncture wounds around her body

It's that time of year where conflict is normal between siblings, resources become stretched, and dispersals and explorations lead to territorial encroachment. There's no sure fire way of knowing how she ended up this way, but given the season we can make an educated guess that it is related to rivalry in some form

Shes settled in with us now, she's feeling sorry for herself but we've started antibiotcs and mange treatment, and we're confident we can bring her back to good health

You got this Minnie 🧡
