We've seen a sudden increase in the number of pets with ticks.โ๏ธ๐ถโ๏ธ๐ฑ
Please make sure your pets are up to date with their flea and worming treatments to avoid the risk of tick bites and potential infections.
It is important to be cautious of ticks as some can carry potentially harmful infections such as Lyme disease and in rare cases, tick-borne encephalitis (TBE). These small arachnids can be active throughout the year, with their peak season being from April to July, and sometimes extending into the autumn months.
Ticks can often be found throughout the UK in grassy, moorland, and wooded areas.๐ฟ
To ensure your pet's good health, it is recommended that you conduct a daily check by running your hands over their body and feeling for any small bumps.
For thorough examination, you can also use a fine-tooth comb to carefully check all over for ticks, not forgetting the following common hiding spots on your pet: head and ears, face and eyelids, toes, tail and bottom, groin and armpits, and under their collar.
If you discover a tick, please get in touch with one of our nurses, who will safely remove the tick for you.๐
