🌈🐾

It is with great sadness we are sharing that our mighty max recently crossed the rainbow bridge.

He finished walking with us last summer due to an irreversible injury that meant the hour walks were too much for him - but he was still part of our crew and we are still deeply saddened at the news 💔

Max came to me scared of his own shadow, would literally jump out his skin if a branch got too close to his face, he wouldn’t touch water with a barge pole, wouldn’t accept treats and we had to do a u-turn on many walks if there was something he had to go under or over 😅

Fast forward a few months and he overcame all of those scary things! Started to trust things more, paddled in the water, took the treats, and even built the courage to go UNDER styles and branches. He made me smile every day. The most courageous dog I knew.

Show Max and his family some love 💙 I’m so grateful I got to have one last fuss when bumping into him a few weeks ago with his owner. Sending lots of love to Max’s family ###

🌿🐾 MEET CAYSEY 🌿🐾

So pleased to introduce our next new dog walker Caysey! She is joining me this week so please feel free to come and say hi as we collect and drop off the dogs - she has already loved meeting some of the crew today.

Caysey comes from a career in the NHS which already says all you need to know about her caring and compassionate personality. She has entered the world of dog walking and has already started to build her own client base which is just amazing.

Caysey has experience with dogs and is currently training her own 6 month old cockerpoo Pablo! What a well rounded boy he is going to turn out to be from what I’ve seen today 😍

The CC crew love her already and have already sussed where her treats are kept. Please give Caysey a warm welcome, I’m so happy you are on board with us 🐾🐾

🌿🐾 SUNSHINE FUN 🌿🐾

A lovely walk this morning for Boden, Maple, Pablo and Teddy who got to see Sam 🐾🐾 lots of sniffing and showing her their wonderful manners!

Then fun this afternoon at where the gang loved investigating the additional hay bales! It entertained them for some time 😅 Solomon was determined to ruin the group picture for Duke, Tess, Purdey and Otis 😂

‼️IMPORTANT PLEASE READ ‼️

A post I never want to write about… cancellations.

I have always been proud to tell my customers I don’t charge cancellation fee’s. This is because I know we are all human - sometimes life happens and the unexpected pops up etc, and I want to be able to give you the flexibility of cancelling a walk if necessary without worrying about paying for a service that hasn’t been used.

I have never had a problem with cancellations during my 3 years of operating, but I did always tell myself if it does become a problem I would review my policies. Recently cancellations have become more frequent - as an example this week alone I have had 8 cancellation messages - that is a loss of income of £112 in one week.

With the ever rising business costs such as fuel and insurance, and living costs such as taxes, water bills, food etc, it’s a cost I can’t absorb.

Other businesses I know are pretty firm on their cancellation fees, some will charge full regardless of what notice is given, some charge over holidays, some charge for the month up front and don’t refund any cancelled walks. They are probably thinking “more fool you, Amelia” - but as I said, we are all human and I like to be able to offer you some flexibility when the unexpected pops up, in hope that should I ever need to cancel a walk, you would offer the same flexibility back.

So this is my last plea - if your dog has holidays booked, overnight stays elsewhere, grooming appointments or any kind of plan that effects their regular walk, please can you give me as much notice as possible (you can send me pre-planned dates right up until December!). This means I can either fill spaces so my income isn’t affected, or I can condense walks giving me some much needed admin time.

I will be reviewing cancellations between now and the end of May - I now also have our two new walkers to think about and we want them to stay! So please send me any dates you are aware of so I can plan accordingly with the new team and hopefully we can avoid implementing cancellation fees 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

🌿🐾 MEET SAM 🌿🐾

I’m so excited to share with you our first new walker Sam! I’m sure you will all give her a warm welcome to the Countryside Canines Team!

Sam has her own dog Ted who is a Pointer and also spends a lot of time with her parents Border Collie Jinty. Sam has lots of experience with anxious dogs and has lots of knowledge of dogs who may require additional attention - making her a perfect fit for us!

Like me, Sam is also studying in Dog Grooming and therefore is experienced in handling dogs of different sizes and temperaments as well as being able to read their body language and act upon it.

Sam has started to meet some of the crew (and their pawrents) this week and it’s been so lovely to see the dogs take to her straight away. She will be meeting the rest of the dogs she will be taking on over the remainder of this week and next week - so if you are about please come and say hi!

The girl gang loved her so much today that I’m actually worried I will be a long forgotton memory in a few months time 😂🙈 but it was so lovely to see her settle straight in.

Let’s give Sam a warm welcome, I for one am so pleased you are on board 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

🐈🐈 INTRODUCING COUNTRYSIDE FELINES 🐈🐈

We are now extending our walking services to cats!
Get that harness out and let us give your cat the walk he/she deserves.

Cats must:

• Be well behaved
• Have short claws
• Loose lead trained
• Excellent recall

No sassy cats accepted and if they have high prey drive for mice and birds they will be kept on a lead at all times.

Well socialised cats may be integrated into the dog groups 🐾

£20 per cat.

🛁✂️ TONIGHTS GROOM ✂️🛁

Myffy the Welsh Springer was tonight’s model. Swipe for before pics! This lovely girl had a bath and a full clip. She also had a scissor trim of her ears and tail - both new things I’ve done tonight!

She was a wriggly bum on the table but it’s all good training for me - I love understanding each individual dogs needs. Why a lovely girlie, I hope I see you again Myffy! 🐾🐾

🌿🐾 UPDATE 🌿🐾

I am delighted to share that two candidates have accepted a position with us at Countryside Canines.

Sam and Caysey will start their shadowing and meeting the dogs from next Monday - I will be in touch with all clients to let you know who your dog will be walked by (for nearly all clients you will have the same person for every walk) - and I will let you know when they will be meeting your dogs.

If you would like to meet them personally please make sure you come and say hi! And for those who aren’t always home - let me know if you would like me to arrange a suitable time to meet them.

I have annual leave coming up in May (Mon 5th - Mon 12th May) and both ladies are happy to do any holiday cover, so if you would still like your dog to have their normal walk whilst I’m on holiday, please do let me know either via WhatsApp or on this post.

Rest assured, Sam and Caysey both have experience with dogs as well as having their own dogs. Both have DBS checks, character references and insurance and will be spending time with me to see how we do things here at Countryside Canines.

Having a new person enter your doggies life can be daunting, but I can’t express enough how confident I am that Sam and Caysey will fit right in. Any questions please do let me know!

Another great day, thank you so much for all being flexible with me today to allow me to get to an appointment - it really is appreciated. Some pick ups tomorrow will also be a little earlier for a midwife appointment.

Nobody told me the non-glamorous side of pregnancy 😂😳 the dogs have loved hearing all my stories this week 😂

🔴🔴 COMIC RELIEF 2025 🔴🔴

Thank you to all of the CC crew today who all had a proportion of their walk money donated to - specifically supporting the Radio 1’s Jamie Laing on his ultramarathon challenge!

We’ve been listening all week during pick ups and drop offs - it’s been an emotional listen, and how anyone can complete 5 ultramarathons in 5 days is beyond me.
