It’s World Mental Health Day 💚

A good reminder that it’s okay to need a break, to take a breather, and to not have it all together all the time.

Our dogs certainly don’t worry about that sort of thing — they live in the moment, chase joy, nap unapologetically, and never question whether they’ve “earned” their rest. 🐕💤

If only we could all be a bit more dog sometimes.
Eat when we’re hungry. Nap when we’re tired. Wag more. Worry less. 💚

Take care of yourself today — your pets think you’re pawsome exactly as you are. 🐾

This is one of those posts I put off writing for as long as possible — because honestly, I dread talking about price increases! 😅

But as much as I wish belly rubs, and mud could pay the bills, the reality is that costs for running Ultimutt Adventures — from fuel and insurance to equipment and general living costs — have all crept up again. To keep things sustainable and make sure I can continue offering the same quality, reliability and care for your pups, it’s no longer possible to keep prices exactly as they are.

I’ll be reviewing the current pricing structure soon, and any changes will be kept as small and fair as possible. I just wanted to give everyone plenty of notice (and a bit of context!) before anything takes effect.

Thank you, as always, for your continued trust, support and kindness — it really does mean the world, and I’m so grateful to be able to spend my days doing what I love with your amazing dogs.

This week I’ve honestly felt so supported by my amazing clients. From kind words, thoughtful check-ins, patience and understanding, to even little surprise gifts 🥹💛— it’s all meant so much.

The dogs, as always, have kept me smiling with their wagging tails and muddy paws 🐾, but it’s the humans behind them who’ve reminded me just how lucky I am to do this job.

💬 Just a little note — I’m a bit behind on admin and slower with replies at the moment. Been busy fending off migraines (shoutout to meds for keeping walks going 💪🐾). No walks have been missed, but by the end of the day I’m usually wiped out or stuck doing thrilling tasks like the food shop 🤣

⭐️More Than the Dog Lady⭐️

Beyond the dog leads and muddy paw prints, here’s a peek at the person behind the business:

🎧 The audiobook fan: My brain just works better with audiobooks. No more words bouncing around the page while my mind races ahead—I’ve already completed 40 new books this year, with many rereads along the way!

🏐 The athlete: You can find me on the netball court playing for the Portland Flames. I’m a competitive player, but I’m also just there for the fun and fitness.

🎨 The creative: My happy place is having a few creative projects on the go at once, from drawing and painting to baking and singing. I love having a creative outlet, though “adulting” often puts these interests on the back burner.

🌍 The adventurer (and introvert): I’m an introvert at heart and love the quiet countryside, but I also have a serious travel bug and a long list of places I want to see and photograph. My bucket list includes getting my PADI scuba diving certification—I’ve always found so much peace underwater.

🧠 The risk assessor: Thanks to my past jobs, which have all been in a caring capacity, my brain is always one step ahead. Roles like being a lifeguard and swim instructor in America and handling care planning have made risk assessment an ingrained behavior. I’m constantly making sure everything is safe, whether I’m on a dog walk or just out and about.

🥶 The cold-hater: While I love my walks, I’m constantly on the lookout for new ways to keep my chilblains at bay—I am not built for the cold! On a winter evening, you’ll likely find me curled up under an electric blanket, trying to warm back up after a day outside.

Of course, dogs and animals will always be a huge part of my world. From my dog Olive at home to all the wonderful dogs I walk, they’re my constant joy. But it’s sometimes nice to be known for more than just “the dog lady.” 💛

Bucky has already joined us on a good few walks and he’s been an absolute star! 🐾 Full of boundless energy, he loves nothing more than running, playing, and making new friends. We’re so excited to have him as part of the Ultimutt Adventures gang and can’t wait for many more fun outings together! 💛

✨ Catch-Up with Some of My Lovely Clients ✨

🐾 Bailey & Marley – Three one off walks booked over the weekend for these beautiful Golden Retrievers! They always brought the fun, and they especially loved their trip to Marsden Mutts where they could play, explore and run in a safe space. 💛

🐾 Rocky & Millie – Such a pleasure to see this gorgeous cat duo again. Rocky loves his fusses, while Millie is usually a little shy. It’s been wonderful to see her confidence grow with each visit over each booking—this time she was happy to stay in the same room with me each visit and looked relaxed 🥹. 🐱💕

🐾 Ruby & Saffy – Two of my regulars who I’ve been walking since 2022. I had the pleasure of pet sitting them while their mum was away, keeping their routine consistent and helping them feel at home. We’ve spent so much time together that they settled with ease. 🐶❤️

🐾 Hudson & Lexi – These two are regularly walked by me. They stayed at home with family while their humans were enjoying a holiday, and I loved giving them some extra walks. 🐾✨

🐾 Dolly – A true princess of a cat who I’ve had the pleasure of looking after a number of times. Dolly requires medication and has a wonderfully independent spirit—she’ll decide if you’re worthy of her company, but when she does, it’s always special. 👑🐾

Always grateful to spend my days with such wonderful pets. 🥰

🐈‍⬛ Lovely to be reunited with Trixie & Guffi 🐈‍⬛

Always a pleasure to check in on them while their family were away — making sure meals, medication, clean-ups, fusses and playtime were all taken care of, plus keeping an eye on the home too 💕🐱

Trixie and Guffi are both such beautiful cats with very different personalities. Trixie has always been more comfortable to play, accept a fuss and interact. Whereas Guffi has always kept his distance in the past, but I think I might finally be winning him round… those purrs, leg brushes and little fusses definitely felt like big progress 😅💛

🐾 Cat visits & small animal care are a regular service I provide — giving you peace of mind while you’re away.
