🥂HAPPY NEW YEAR 🥂

I’d like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to all my clients old and new who have supported Ultimutt Adventures Huddersfield this year and chosen me to care for your beloved pets! Thank you for all the cards, gifts and well wishes that rounded out 2023, they were all greatly appreciated and although not at all expected were lovely and put a lot of smiles on my face! I really couldn’t get to do the job I love without you all keeping me in business. You are all amazing, and I can’t thank you enough. I can’t wait to be reunited with all of the Ultimutts members when I am back in a few weeks time!! ❤️

Wishing you all a Happy New Year, I hope 2024 is a good year for you all that brings a lot of happiness, and lots of wonderful memories.

It is so sad that as of today, another breed and shape of dog will be persecuted based on the way it looks. Banning a breed is not something I consider unfair, ineffective, and only really hurts the dogs and the people who genuinely care about them. My heart today goes out to the dogs, the families, the rescues and the vets who find themselves caught up with the consequences of the ‘XL bully breed type’. At this time my insurance will not cover me to walk any dog that falls into the physical characteristics laid out as XL bully breed type. I will continue to consider insurance providers that may allow me to provide them care in the future. However, going into 2024 my diary has been pretty much maxed out and we close the year with a full diary too.

So here’s to 2024, let’s make every moment count. Give your dog some fusses, butt scratches and treats from me! I can’t wait to see them again soon ❤️

MERRY CHRISTMAS!! Thank you so much to my wonderful dog owners & all family members of the lovely doggos. I really couldn’t run my little business without your continued support and I feel grateful everyday to be trusted with your beloved pets. I love them all dearly… even the fox poo rollers 😂🙈🤭.

🌟🎄Christmas 2023 🎄🌟

This year I am reducing the card and gift giving significantly! Instead I am opting to support charities even more than usual. This year I have chosen to sponsor a dog via Guide Dogs. Each sponsorship is a 2 year commitment, and Ultimutt Adventures is sponsoring a beautiful little golden retriever called Crumble! They say it’s the gift that keeps giving, and there are so many deserving charities it was hard to choose who to support. However, Guide Dogs has been on my mind for a long time, from considering volunteering for them a few years ago. However, as most of you know already I supported and volunteered for Luckys Legagcy Rescue instead where Olive, Cai and Duke were adopted via.

Over the last couple years I have met and seen so many more guide dogs in the community. I have been lucky to meet a number of wonderful retired guide dogs over the past couple years and so it just felt the right time to support them.

If you saw Guide Dog Puppy School on Channel 5, then you will have already seen Crumble! I hope that everyone understands this decision to support charities (and hopefully small businesses more) given the current climate they all need our help more than ever. Hopefully, I can keep you posted on her progress as updates are given!

🎄✈️🦘Annual Leave🦘✈️🎄

This Christmas/New Year I am taking an extended break for the holiday season. All clients should have got a message from me by now, but just incase I am sharing here too! Many of you will know I have friends and family around the world and the opportunity has arisen to visit some of them! An opportunity that I just could not pass up.

So my last walking day of 2023 will be Wednesday the 20th December. My first day back to work in 2024 is going to be Monday the 22nd January. I am happy to help find cover and make recommendations for cover while I am away.

As much as I am excited for my little adventure, I will very much be looking forward to getting back to work and seeing all the amazing dogs that are part of the Ultimutt Adventures Pack!

It’s been a while since a post… honestly it’s just been hard to do one. Since the start of 2023 three beautiful souls Ruby, Duke and Max have crossed the rainbow bridge🌈

I feel extreamly lucky and privileged to do a job I love and spend so much time with so many much loved four legged family members. But the hardest part is saying goodbye, or not realising when it is the last time you get to see them.

Every dog I walk has a piece of my heart- I’m a big softie particularly with animals and love each of them dearly!

🌈 In loving memory… 🌈

Max went to the rainbow bridge yesterday…he suddenly deteriorated and sadly passed away.

Max has had household walks, pack walks, dog sitting services and I’ve even been taxi and chaperone to the vet before. As such I got the pleasure to see him lots during his time as part of Ultimutt Adventures, and boy oh boy, did this Max know how to win a heart. He certainly cemented a spot in mine!

At 12 years years young his life has been filled with love, from his wonderful family. His family did everything to ensure to help ease his pain and discomfort for his arthritis from working with the vets, physiotherapy and having his own dog pram to ride in do he could enjoy time out with the family. Even recently having a holiday in Scotland including a trip to the beach.

Max loved his treatos, tummy tickles and adored playing with sticks.

My heart breaks for his wonderful family, who lost Ruby 2 in January and now Max. He really was the luckiest of boys to get them and vice versa.

Gone, but always in our hearts. I am sure he will be chasing all the sticks over the rainbow bridge!

Mr Bobby felt sorry for himself during yesterday’s walk when he started limping. I checked him over and nothing to note. He had a good run round before, though no yelp or sound indication of pain, he was attempting not to weight bare on that leg. I thought maybe he may have pulled something - though I’m no vet so couldn’t say for sure. But my dog first aid training assisted me to determine that it didn’t require urgent attention.

But with some of the walk left to go, I got a new job title, from dog walker to dog carrier!! Well at least until I could get this little man back home for TLC from his hoomans. Big shout out to Matt for helping with carrying duties and Lauren for helping keep the others entertained (and keeping me company)!

Get better soon Bobby, hopefully your back running round with your pals in no time!! 🤞

💜Secure Field Fun 💜

We tested out another local secure field yesterday! Great little facility where they also sell raw food and natural treats. The dogs loved it so nice to explore new spaces and have a change of scenery 🥰

🥳 FRI-YAY! 🥳

Today we had a trip to a lovely new secure dog field Bark Island, the dogs all approve!! Sometimes it’s lovely to just have your own space and get a change of scenery. We were lucky to have the lovely company of and her dogs. Our packs are use to one another and get on well 🥰

🩷 I LOVE MY JOB BUT…🩷

Being self employed can be hard, the last few weeks I have been unwell. When you work for yourself there is no ringing the boss to tell them your sick. 🤒 There’s absolutely no sick pay. You are the boss, and with a workforce of one there is no fallback. So not working can make you feel extreamly guilty and it’s difficult to allow yourself to rest. Me being my own ‘worst boss’. 😈

When I’m sick, I tend to think getting out in the fresh air and being the dogs will make me feel better anyway and most the time it does. But this time my body just was demanding rest, sleep and time to heal. 😴 I’m getting much better, but am still feeling the effects and am having to take time to recouprate.

As such things I usually like to keep up with like social media stories, posts, photos etc, have taken a hit along with other behind the scenes work jobs. 📸 Many of you may have noticed less content from me the last few weeks, but hopefully some routine will come back when I start to feel back to usual.

Over the last three weeks I have taken time off work, and I would like to thank all the dog owners this has impacted for being so understanding and kind. 🥰 I can’t tell you how much it helped to allow me to take care of myself during this time, including the day I had to go home around lunchtime and pretty much slept for the next 18 ish hours.

The support of my fellow dog walkers, has also been such blessing! Walking with me, covering walks, taking Olive out, etc. We have the best little support system. Thank you so much!

I may make small adjustments to my day to day routine (if needed). Eg, starting my day a little later. This is to continue to run Ultimutts smoothly and safely while the dogs have fun. While trying to give myself the best chance of continuing to get better and not do too much and wear myself out.

I absolutely love my job, and I love the dogs I walk even more! Here’s a selection of photos of my beautiful pack!

💙 The Boys 💙

Introducing Charlie, Romeo and Diego three Labrador brothers. Who have had a number of walks with me now, including while their owners are away and relatives are looking after them.

Charlie (💙) Loves to meet other dogs, chase balls and run around.
Enjoys paddling in water.

Romeo (💛🩶) Can be found walking next to me almost always, loves to carry a ball and have fusses. Loves treats! But also loves to roll in 🦊💩🤣

This lovely little lady is Betty, she has been with the Ultimutts Gang for a good while now. She joined for pack walks and has slotted in so well, she loves to play. But also knows to not pester the dogs that don’t want to. She is a fab addition and I can’t wait for more adventures with her in the future! 🥰

🌈 In loving memory… 🌈

Duke went to the rainbow bridge yesterday, after a long battle with an aggressive cancer. At five years young his life has been shorter than expected... but most defiantly longer than if he had not been rescued. Starting as a street dog in Romania, onto a foster home and finally he found his forever family and made many amazing memories. While he has been earth side he has brought much joy to so many, he also had his quirks like never wanting to wee in his garden and waking his folks up at all hours day and night for walkies.

What you might not know is, this boy is why I have Olive and my folks have Cai! In turn also a big reason that my business happened as I took him for walks and had him stay over way before I even thought about starting up as a dog walker. So he really is an Ultimutts OG.

My heart breaks for his owners (my friends Jess and Sam) he really was the luckiest of boys to get them and vice versa. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

I have hundreds of photos of him on my phone so just picked a small selection. He was 100% Olives bestie, and she loved to steal his ‘hidden’ treats, often things he stashed under his bed, as well as play in the mud together and chase one another.

Gone, but always in our hearts. Hope your chasing all the squirrels over the rainbow bridge!

🐶 🚐 Transporting an animal in the UK is subject to certain laws and regulations. 🚐 🐶 The Welfare of Animals (Transport) Order states that: ‘No person shall transport any animal in a way which causes or is likely to cause injury or unnecessary suffering to that animal.’ In addition to this… The Highway Code states that: ‘When in a vehicle make sure dogs or other animals are suitably restrained so they cannot distract you while you are driving or injure you if you stop quickly’. This means that your dog must be transported in a way the will cause it no harm and will reduce the level of harm inflicted in the event of an accident. Dogs must also be restrained from interfering with your driving and remove the risk of injury to passengers in the event of an accident. As such I wanted to highlight how at Ultimutts Adventures we ensure the safety of all our passengers! ❤️Assess if your dog is fit to travel prior to beginning the journey. The continued monitoring of your dog during their walk. There is a canine first aid kit kept in the van or carried with me. 🧡Ensure that the dog has adequate ventilation. The van has a roof air vent to provide good circulation in conjunction with a/c. 💛Ensure that the dog is shaded from direct sunlight. Thankfully without windows in the back it helps stop that greenhouse effect windows can cause. So in summer the back stays nice and cool. 💚Monitor your dog for signs of overheating. This includes physical checks at pick up/drop off points as well as during walks. A temperature gauge in the van also assists. 💙Ensure that the dog has regular access to water. There are non spill water bowls available for the dogs to ensure they can remain hydrated. 💜 Their are six individual custom crates to ensure all the dogs can travel individually. The only dogs that share their crate are dogs that reside in the same household. This minimise the obvious risks associated with dogs travelling in small
