So here’s our new baby!! Got to have a lab in our lives, not had the chocolate variety before though, picked her up today and already realised we managed to pick the psycho pup, got our work cut out with this madam.

Today we have had to have our beautiful Toby put to sleep. We are heartbroken 💙
He would have been 13 in May, he’s been the most well behaved boy, loved the children and was amazing with them. We will always miss you Tobes. 💙💙💙💙

Stop 482% Rise in License Fees for Small Home Dog Boarding Establishments

So latest update on the boarding license increase is that Kirklees will not back down, to “help” dog boarders they will let us pay part of our license fee monthly by direct debit. They advise if we don’t agree with it then to get legal advice and go to court! Apparently they have passed on costs of clamping down on unlicensed boarders to us that play by the rules, not sure if this is true but it’s been said on the dog walkers forum. We will be losing a lot of licensed boarders in light of this decision, Toby’s Tag Alongs license expires in March 2025 at which point we will need to rethink. 🥵🥵

Just had this passed to me, we received our email from Kirklees earlier this week, unfortunately a lot of home boarders have already given up and are just doing walks, it’s the boarding and daycare that requires a license. Luckily our license doesn’t expire until early 2025 at which point we will definitely need to reconsider. We are already working for around £2 ph which is mad when you think about it lol! 🌿🐾 2024 Home Boarding Update 🌿🐾

I have had quite a few queries about when my 2024 boarding dates will be available. Unfortunately there will be a delay on this due to circumstances beyond my control.

It was a rather frustrating day yesterday for home boarding establishments under .council - we were informed of the price increases for license renewals. The new license fee for a 3 year license has risen from £342 to £1650 (plus a £221 consideration fee = £1871) I wish this was a typo! 🤯🤯🤯

Whilst this may be feasible for larger kennel type establishments, it is not feasible for small boarding establishments like myself, and many others who are on my recommendations list. To put this into perspective, if I were to use the same price increase, I would be charging £144 per night - a rate which is totally unrealistic.

I feel sad and angry that come September, I may not be in a position to renew my license unless Kirklees Council reconsider their fees.

Whilst my current licence is valid until September 2024, if I am to renew I will need to look at my pricing model and structure in order to make it work, and therefore I can’t commit to bookings until I have worked out my next step. I am really hoping this won’t take much longer.

To think that come September next year could be the end of Countryside Canines Home Boarding makes me feel sick. But I won’t go down without a fight - a formal complaint was made last night, along with getting Colne Valley’s MP Jason McCartney on board. I urge all local home boarders to do the same - we need more voices to be heard.

When Coco met Rosie! You didn’t need your muzzle on Rosie did you? Best friends within 10 mins. These 2 just love each other, if one’s having a nap the others pacing up & down waiting for them to wake up to play.
