Time for a catchup with this handsome young man today 🥰🐾
He was tiny when I last saw him and is now hitting adolescence, which can be a challenge for some dogs.
He has fantastic owners who have been working ever so hard to keep him on track and tonight visit was just to tweak a couple of little bits as his hormones start to kick in. He's such a good boy!

Well done to his fantastic family for all the hard work so far.

The very lovely Bella and her very dedicated owner have been working ever so hard on her assistance dog training. 💥🐕‍🦺. Earlier this week she did incredibly well with lots of distraction and some pretty awful weather.

💥💥CALLING ALL RESCUES AND RESCUE STAFF/VOLUNTEERS💥💥

We know you work your socks off, so this is a free event just for you!

This free evening presentation is aimed at staff and volunteers working in a rescue kennel environment.
Both Jemma and Claire have been involved in rescue for a long time, with Jemma working full time in rescue for 7 years previously.
We know rescue is a tough environment for the dogs (and the humans) and we hope to give you some fun and easy activities that can be incorporated into kennel life and walk/play sessions.

Scent work and sniffing can have a very positive impact on a dogs mental well-being and can help build confidence and give the dogs an outlet.
We know budgets are stretched for all rescues so this presentation is free to attend, but you will need an email from the rescue you work/volunteer at just to confirm.

Raffle first prize..

The first prize in our charity raffle is a 3 session one to one training package.

For anyone in area, this will be done in home or out and about in your local area, depending what you need a hand with. If you're out of area, this can be done via zoom.

It includes around 4 hrs of face to face support, and is suitable for anyone wanting to brush up their dogs basics a little with things like pulling on lead, recall, jumping up etc.
The prize can also be taken as our 3 session Puppy Smart start puppy package, which is meant to give you solid foundations for the best start with your new pup.
I am also a Co founder of Scent and Track UK, and specialise in scent games for puppies, scent enrichment and tracking for fun, so if you'd prefer to try these, that's also an option.

Xmas is a great time of year and we all want to enjoy the festivities and have our dogs be part of it..
Here's our guide to making sure everyone can enjoy themselves including the dogs!

1) Ensure your dog has a quiet space where they can safely get away from festivities if everything get a little too much! You may relish the thought of all the extended family visiting, but your dog may find this a little overwhelming. This area may be a crate, a gated off area or room or somewhere else nice and quiet, where your dogs is happy and comfortable spending time, give them a tasty chew and let them settle down in their own space without being disturbed.

2) Manage the environment. Xmas Is full of exciting novel delicacies for dogs..those magical trees full of shiny balls, that whole roast turkey and pork pie sitting on the side, all those exciting shiny boxes around the tree, all those biscuits and chocolates and snacks laying everywhere! Stop and think, Don't leave things in reach of your dog. They don't understand it's not for them, and the last thing you want on Xmas day is the turkey buried in the garden and all the expensive presents shredded..

3) Supervise visitors around your dog. For a lot of homes at Xmas, there's a lot more people around than normal, from tipsy loud adults to excitable sugar filled children, your dog may find this exaggerated behaviour a little unpredictable and may not be as comfortable with people as they usually are. Always supervise your dog and look for the small signs they may be feeling uncomfortable and get them some space.

4) Watch out for those Xmas hazards toxic to dogs. We've highlighted some of these on the pictures
🐾 raisins and grapes, can be fatal. These are a really common ingredient in Xmas cake, Xmas pudding, mince pies and some stuffings.
🐾 Macadamia nuts
🐾 Blue cheese
🐾Chocolate
🐾 Alcohol
🐾Certain Human painkillers
🐾 garlic and onions (depending on quantity)
🐾 Xylitol/ Birch sugar
If your dog eats any of these things, please phone your vet ASAP for advice, even if it is Xmas day. There is only a short time frame for a vet to be able to make your dog sick to reduce the chance of poisoning if they feel it's necessary.

Tip tip number 5) Try to keep some of your normal routine. If your dog has a regular routine such as a walk mid morning to settle for the afternoon, try to stick with this even on Xmas day. This will help ensure your dog is a settled and comfortable as they can be, before you all try sit down for Xmas dinner.

Extra food for thought..if you have a very young dog who's only just learning their house training, and you decide to bring a real Xmas tree into the front room, don't be too surprised if your pup has an accident by the tree. It will smell like the outdoors, which is exactly where you've been training them to p*e!

I love running these workshops! Only open to puppies under 6 months old, this workshop is perfect for helping to build your puppy’s confidence and resilience, with real-world training and foundations as well. I run these with North K9 Training , and we love seeing the puppies thrive.

Last session with this girl last week. So much hard work and dedication from her owner. All paid off in the end with some huge improvements. We even tried a little bit of nosework which she absolutely loved 🐾🤩 go Team Peggy!
