House of Hound Hydrotherapy

House of Hound Hydrotherapy Canine Hydrotherapy & Rehabilitation Centre, Yorkshire
Fun, Fitness, Weight Management, Physio, Laser This can be in either the pool or the treadmill.

House of Hound is a NARCH registered hydrotherapy centre which offers both aquatic and land based therapy with additional weekly Class 3b laser clinics. All our sessions are carried out by a fully qualified hydrotherapist or physiotherapist (ACPAT, NAVP) and we offer only safe water sessions where dogs are at the centre of the session. Whether this is for a dog who has a diagnosed condition, getti

ng older in age, or a puppy straight from their first injections - we can cater for all dogs. We offer private sessions for owners and their pets, and you will never share the pool or treadmill with other clients dogs during your session. If your dog has a diagnosed condition, we liaise with your vets to obtain the medical history and offer full assessments, which allow us to consider how best to treat your animal. For those with fit, active and healthy dogs - we can offer introduction to water sessions for dogs who are not very confident. Those dogs who are more confident and want to come for exercise, mental stimulation or to improve muscle or stamina - we offer a more tailored exercise session, based on the ability and breed. This is also suitable for sporting or working dogs. We never work the dog beyond their ability and only set them up to achieve! Each session is individually tailored to your dog - we work with owners to find out exactly what your dog is like. Our physiotherapy sessions are offered with ACPAT Chartered Physio - Lisa Emerson, who has been with House of Hound since the opening in 2017. Lisa is well established in both her human and animal physiotherapy. She predominantly treats horses and dogs - but also offers horse rider clinics and other animal treatment - including cats and farm animals. Hydrotherapy sessions are facilitated by either Victoria (Hydrotherapist) Louise or Zoe who are both (Hydrotherapist and Veterinary Physio - MSc)
Each session is carried out in a therapeutic way, with force free handling. We use positive techniques, to guide your dog within their session. Owners will be talked through each process by the therapist. Victoria also offers Mantrailing UK introduction workshops and training. This is getting dogs to sniff and track a human scent. It's great fun for owners and dogs alike and brilliant to both focus and tire your dog. Sessions are advertised on both social media and the website with booking and more information available there. Scent workshops are also available for those who would like to work their dog on a specific scent. Victoria is a City and Guilds qualified scent instructor and has also qualified with UK Sniffer Dogs and Scent Work UK. These are offered via our sister business Sniff and Trail UK. We can teach right from the basics up to competition level. Info is also on social pages and the website

Happy 15th Birthday to our Gorgeous Girl Minnie!
🎉🎂🐾

Today we’re celebrating a very special lady… our beautiful Eurasier, Minnie, who turns 15 years young today! ❤️

For those who haven’t met one before, Eurasiers are a rare breed here in the UK. Originally from Germany, they were bred to be the ultimate family companion. Calm, gentle, and deeply loyal, they form incredibly close bonds with their people—and Minnie is the perfect example of all those wonderful traits (with a little extra cheekiness for good measure!). 🐕✨

Minnie joined her forever family with Victoria when she was 8 years old. It took her a little time to settle in, but with patience, understanding, and plenty of love, she soon found her feet—and now she wouldn’t be without them (and they certainly wouldn’t be without her!). Minnie adores her human family and her doggy sisters, and she’s very much the heart of the pack at home. 🏡❤️🐾

These days, she still enjoys the simple things in life:
💦 A gentle swim in the hydro pool (always followed by a well-deserved nap),
🎶 Getting far too excited when her mum and dad have a dance around the house—she can’t resist joining in with a little dance of her own 🤩
🥬🐢 And stealing Marley the tortoise’s lettuce every single morning!
She might be 15, but she’s still full of fun and cheeky charm.

Happy birthday, Minnie—our water baby, our dancing queen, and our lettuce thief extraordinaire! You’ve brought so much joy to your family and to all of us here at House of Hound. We love you to bits and can’t wait to celebrate with extra cuddles, a special swim, and lots of birthday treats (don’t worry Marley, we’ll save some lettuce for you too!). 🎉🐾💖

Here’s to many more wonderful moments with our sweet girl.
🥳🐶🎂

🌊🤓 Sighthounds Can Swim Too! 🌊

This is Paddy, a lovely 11 year old lurcher who comes to see us for regular hydrotherapy and laser therapy to help manage his arthritis and keep him feeling his best in his golden years 💛

Sighthounds like Paddy are often thought of as sprinters, not swimmers—but we’re here to bust that myth! People often assume that breeds like lurchers, greyhounds, and whippets can’t, or don’t want to, swim. In reality, with the right support and gentle introductions, many sighthounds really enjoy their time in the water. Paddy is a perfect example! 👏

Swimming in our heated pool gives him a fantastic low-impact workout, helping to build and maintain muscle without adding extra strain to his joints. Alongside his laser therapy sessions, which help reduce inflammation and relieve pain, it’s all part of his routine to keep him moving comfortably and living life to the full 🐾

Well done, Paddy—you’re an absolute star! 🌟

✨ Cyrus is living his best life at 11 years young! ✨

This gorgeous boy comes to us regularly for hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, and laser therapy, and he’s a brilliant example of how these treatments can help senior dogs stay active, comfortable, and happy in their twilight years. 🖤🐾

We all have a special place in our hearts for senior dogs here at House of Hound Hydrotherapy. There’s something so rewarding about helping them stay mobile, pain-free, and able to enjoy life to the fullest.

👉 Hydrotherapy in our underwater treadmill and pool helps Cyrus stay strong without putting extra strain on his joints. The warm water supports his body weight, reducing pressure on his hips and spine, while giving his muscles a safe, effective workout. It’s also fantastic for improving circulation and keeping his joints supple!

👉 Physiotherapy with Lisa focuses on keeping Cyrus’s muscles balanced, easing any tension, and maintaining his range of motion. Regular physio helps him move more comfortably, reduce stiffness, and support his overall mobility. Plus, Cyrus finds his sessions super relaxing—who doesn’t love a good massage?

👉 Laser therapy works by reducing inflammation and promoting healing in his joints and soft tissues. It’s a gentle, non-invasive treatment that helps ease any aches and pains, so he can enjoy his walks, playtime, and pottering about without discomfort.

We’re all about helping dogs like Cyrus thrive in their senior years, keeping them as comfortable, mobile, and happy as possible. And just look at that relaxed face—he knows he’s in good hands!

If you’ve got an older dog who could benefit from a little extra support, we’d love to help. Get in touch to find out more. 👇🏻

🌊 Brave Ronnie Making Waves! 🐾

Meet Ronnie, the gorgeous Goldendoodle who proves that being blind doesn’t stop you from having fun! 💛 Ronnie loves his Hydrotherapy and laser therapy sessions here at House of Hound Hydrotherapy, and with a little guidance (and his favourite squeaky pig 🐷), he’s unstoppable!

Ronnie recently moved to the area and had previously enjoyed swimming elsewhere, so when he joined us for the first time, he had to map out our pool from scratch. 🗺️ During his first session, he learnt where the platforms are and how long and wide the pool is—expertly guided every step of the way by Victoria.

Victoria uses gentle taps on Ronnie’s shoulders to teach him directional signals, helping him feel safe and confident as he swims. These tactile cues, along with the familiar sound of his squeaky pig, give Ronnie the freedom to explore and enjoy his swim without worry.

Swimming is a fantastic exercise for blind dogs like Ronnie because:
✔️ The water supports their body, making it easy on the joints (ideal for dogs with arthritis too!).
✔️ It gives them freedom to move safely in a controlled environment without obstacles.
✔️ It stimulates their other senses—listening, sniffing, and feeling their way around.
✔️ It builds confidence both in and out of the water.
✔️ And it strengthens the bond between dog and hydrotherapist, as trust and teamwork are key.

Ronnie shows us every session that with a little help and a lot of heart, anything is possible. He’s an absolute superstar, and we’re so proud of how quickly he’s adapted and settled into his new swimming routine! 🌟

➡️ Swipe to see Ronnie in action—following his pig, soaking up the praise, and loving every minute in the water! 🐾

Making a splash! 🏊‍♂️🐾 Perry the Bulldog was an absolute star in the pool today, rocking his float coat like a true pro!

Perry comes to House of Hound Hydrotherapy for rehabilitation to support his hips, and swimming is a fantastic, low-impact way to build strength and improve mobility without putting extra strain on his joints.

Bull breeds like Perry often need a little extra support when it comes to swimming. Their broad chests, heavy heads, and shorter legs can make it tricky for them to stay afloat and swim safely on their own. That’s why Perry always wears his float coat to help him stay safe and confident in the water.

And let’s just say… Perry LOVES swimming! 💦🐶 He’s so passionate about it that Victoria is teaching him a bit of discipline around the water, making sure he’s calm and focused before he dives in for his swim. It’s all part of helping him get the most out of his sessions and keeping things safe, structured, and fun!

At House of Hound Hydrotherapy, we work with dogs like Perry to build strength, aid recovery, and improve their quality of life—all while making sure they’re having a great time in the process!

Safety first… but fun is always a close second! 🐶💦

Twinning and winning! 🖤🤍

Zola and Ember are looking absolutely gorgeous (and super cosy!) in their matching drying robes after smashing their treadmill session! 💪🐾 These two work hard and relax in style 😎

Drying robes aren’t just about looking cute (although they definitely do!)—they’re also super practical after a hydro session. After swimming or treadmill work, your dog’s muscles are warm and working hard, so it’s important to keep them cosy as they cool down. A good-quality drying robe helps:

✔️ Keep muscles warm, aiding recovery and reducing stiffness (especially for dogs with arthritis or joint issues)
✔️ Wick away moisture quickly, speeding up drying time
✔️ Prevent them from getting chilled on the journey home
✔️ And by the time you get home, they’re practically dry and ready to relax!

We love seeing our hydro heroes all snuggled up after their sessions. How adorable do Zola and Ember look? 🐾🖤

🐾 Biscuit’s Pool Comeback! 🐾

At 16 years young, Biscuit the Border Terrier has been coming to see us for years to help manage his arthritis. A few years ago, he had a go in the pool but wasn’t too sure about it—so he stuck with the treadmill instead. But at his last session, Victoria reintroduced him to the water, and this time… he surprised us all! 💦

His dad thought he wouldn't be keen, but Biscuit had other ideas! He was calm, relaxed, and seemed to really enjoy himself. Just goes to show that sometimes, the right moment (and a little encouragement) makes all the difference. 🐶💙

And of course, no session is complete without a cuddle—Biscuit happily soaked up some post-swim snuggles with Victoria. 🥰💛

Why is pool hydrotherapy great for dogs with end-stage arthritis?

🦴 Gentle, Low-Impact Movement – Water supports the joints, reducing strain while keeping them moving.
💪 Maintains Muscle Strength – Arthritis can lead to muscle loss, and swimming helps keep those muscles engaged.
❤️ Soothes Stiffness & Discomfort – The warmth of the water eases stiffness and improves circulation, promoting better mobility.
🧠 Mental Stimulation & Confidence – A new experience in a safe, supportive setting can be hugely beneficial for older dogs.

For dogs like Biscuit, pool hydrotherapy can make a real difference in comfort, movement, and quality of life in their senior years. 🐾💦

Well done, Biscuit—proving that you’re never too old to try something new (or to enjoy a well-earned cuddle afterwards)! 🥰🐾

Little Vincent’s Big Adventure Begins! 🐾💦

At just 3 months old, Vincent the Jack Russell Terrier had his very first introduction to water session with us last week! 💙 After a fun and positive first swim in the big pool, he was all cuddled up for some well-earned snuggles.

Vincent is getting ready for an exciting life in Switzerland, where he’ll be joining his new family on boat trips! 🚤 That’s why these early water sessions are so important—helping him build confidence, develop strong swimming skills, and ensure he feels safe and happy around water from a young age.

Introducing puppies to water in a controlled and supportive environment:
✔️ Builds confidence and reduces fear
✔️ Strengthens muscles and coordination
✔️ Helps develop natural swimming ability
✔️ Makes future water experiences stress-free and fun!

We can’t wait to see where Vincent’s adventures take him next! 🏔️🌊

Our Story

Canine Hydrotherapy Centre - Huddersfield

We offer hydrotherapy in the form of rehabilitation, fun and fitness, weight management, puppy swims where we introduce your dog to water safely. We also offer programmes for canine athletes such as agility or flyball dogs. We are registered with NARCH (National Association Registered Canine Hydrotherapists)

Alongside our rehabilitation in the pool we offer land based physiotherapy with our in house ACPAT Chartered Physiotherapist who can work with owners to develop home programmes. We work mainly with dogs, but also work with other small animals. Our Physiotherapist also works with horses/riders/dog walkers and owners.

In addition to hydrotherapy, we are qualified as a Mantrailing UK instructor and hold intorduciton workshops with follow on weekly training events - which involves working with your dog as a team to find the ‘missing person’ by tracking the human scent trail.
