"Ode to a Mouse" is one of the finest poems ever written about our broken relationship with other creatures .. from the opening line of "Wee sleeket, cow'ran beastie.." through to the last line "An’ forward tho’ I canna see, I guess an’ fear!".

In this talk we will go through this beautiful poem (and translating it for those not familiar with Scottish!!)..and putting it into the tragic modern day context that the mouse is in.. the most common animal to be tortured and abused in laboratories...millions in the UK alone each and every year...which gives the last line of the poem all the more poignancy.

The second question in Parliament..with two more non-answers from the Government.
More and more MPs are asking the government to take action regarding animal testing because it's becoming more and more obvious that it's failing animals, patients, medicine, and science.

Please contact your MP and encourage them to speak up for the animals suffering and dying in laboratories and build upon the pressure to develop scientific knowledge using methodologies based on human biology.

Thank you ELU for capturing two Impex vans of endangered Macaque monkeys entering Charles River in Tranent, Scotland tonight, who were trafficked from Mauritius through Manchester Airport, going to their final destination to be poisoned and killed for no reason except money!! Please contact Manchester Airport Press Office to politely comment on why they are allowing these flights of misery to continue to happen. It is so morally wrong as these monkeys will be poisoned and killed on a wasteful conyeyor belt of useless testing for money and NOT for safety on humans👎this has to stop👍

10.55am "Work" is finished for the day at MBR Acres.the last worker leaves at 10.55am.
Like many factories MBR Acres basically shuts down for the weekend with just a skeleton weekend rota. .
BUT in this case its a factory that produces beagle puppies..

Who is inside MBR now at 11am to feed, clean and monitor over a thousand beagles in any way, shape or form? NO-ONE.

We've already witnessed in 2025 Impex vans taking puppies to LabCorp, Sequani and Charles River...Those puppies will now be being tortured..We set up Camp Beagle to shut MBR down because of the torture in the labs yet here we are after 3 and a half years of Camp Beagle still screaming about the most basic of animal welfare scandals at MBR -

It's 11am and there is no-one inside MBR to see to the dogs in any way shape or form. This happens every weekend.

THIS ALONE IS A SCANDAL BUT NOTHING EVER GETS DONE ABOUT IT.

💪🔥👊 This week saw a powerful debate in Parliament on the catastrophic failings of the UK regulator, the MHRA, which has failed to protect patients from avoidable harm for decades.

➡️ MP Esther McVey, who led the Chamber debate, said: "The MHRA Yellow Card is currently a voluntary scheme that doctors and members of the public can report to, but I echo calls from the Sling the Mesh campaign and others for the UK to follow the example of Denmark and Sweden by making it mandatory for all healthcare professionals to report suspected adverse reactions.

😱 "In 2018, the MHRA estimated that only 10% of serious reactions and between 2% and 4% of non-serious reactions are reported.

➡️ "The reporting scheme should be a valuable source of information about possible harms, and act as an early warning system, but there is gross under-reporting to it. As the IMMDS’s 2020 review put it, the system is too complex and too diffuse to allow early signal detection.

➡️ "Under-reporting is a big problem because it makes it difficult to spot safety signals and assign causation. That then translates into unnecessary harm or death, with devastating side effects from treatment going unnoticed for years, months or even decades.

🔥 "That was recognised by the IMMDS review led by Baroness Cumberlege in the case of Primodos, sodium valproate and surgical mess—I meant to say mesh, though perhaps the word should have been “mess.”
