Ever wondered what happens when your pet comes in for surgery?
Take a peek behind the scenes 👀
1. Admit appointment - Your pet will be checked over by a vet and you will be able to ask any questions you have about their procedure.
2. We will get them settled into their bed for the day. Dogs and cats are kept separately and there is a walk-in kennel for larger dogs. All our kennels have dimmable lighting and heated floors to ensure your pet is relaxed and comfortable.
3. Our nurses will calculate the anaesthetic medications the vet has prescribed for your pet and prepare all the necessary equipment. They will place an IV cannula and perform any blood tests needed.
4. Once your pet is asleep, their nurse will monitor their heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, oxygen levels and carbon dioxide levels.
5. The hair will be clipped from the surgery site and the skin thoroughly cleaned to prepare the surgery site.
6. The surgery will be performed in our well equipped operating theatre.
7. Your pet will return to bed to recover from their procedure. We will turn their kennel lights to red to provide a calm environment for them to wake up in.
8. Food time! We will feed your pet food that is specially designed to be gentle on your pets tummy while they recover.
9. Home time 💕 We will discuss your pets post-operative care with you before bringing them out to you ready to go home!

So satisfying!
Ernie started sneezing after a walk so his owner brought him in for vet Becky to check him over.
She was concerned there could be something stuck up his nose so we sedated him and found this hiding in there!
He will be feeling much more comfortable now 😊
It’s that time of year again!
I took Arthur for a walk this afternoon and discovered this grass seed sat on his toes as we left the field.
Make sure to check your dogs after walking through long grass for any of these pesky things!
If you notice any swelling between your dog’s toes or they start shaking their head they could have a grass seed stuck.
Grass seeds can get stuck anywhere -behind eyelids, up noses, between teeth - the list is endless.
If you’re worried your dog could have a grass seed please call us on 01480 877179 or you can book an appointment online
Building works at Kimbolton Vets are about to begin 🤩 Come on a quick tour to see the “before”! We hope to be opening around the start of May but we will post an official opening date as soon as we can.
