Poppy 🩷 a sweet Domestic Shorthair girl I’ve been visiting for around 18 months.
Adopted by her elderly owners Poppy has certainly landed on all four paws. Due to her owner’s delicate skin and the medication they are on we have to ensure Poppy’s claws are kept short. Poppy isn’t a scratchy cat but accidents do happen and as always prevention is better than cure!!!
As you can see Poppy is a bit of a catnip addict and loved her gift I gave her after her most recent trimming ♥️

Reason being was I had received a text from Ernie’s mummy asking if there was any chance I could get there a little earlier as Ernie had been kept in all night in preparation for my visit but was desperate to go out.
I got there as soon as I could and worked swiftly so not to keep Ernie in any longer than needed. Ernie’s mummy had to pop out and asked if I would let Ernie out before I left.

Part of being a good cat groomer is knowing when not to groom a cat.
I’ve been grooming Betty since she was a tiny kitten 💗 she has always been a little spicy 🌶️ Due to her needing surgery our scheduled groom had to be cancelled 😢 A combination of Betty wearing a surgical suit and her going too long between grooms her coat had become matted but there was no way she was going to let me groom her when I visited on Friday 😢
Betty’s lovely humans are going to discuss her behaviour with the vets, hopefully the vets will prescribe gabapentin (mild sedative) and Betty will allow me to work with her. If not then there will be no other option but for Betty to be done under full sedation at the vets.
Welfare is by far the most important factor when cat grooming. Betty won’t die from having to cope with her matts for a few more weeks but her having a heart attack because of stress/fear is a different story and is not a risk I’m willing to take 🙈🙈
Fingers crossed in a few weeks you will be seeing a post with a nicely groomed Betty 💗
