As the temperature is set to rise tomorrow, remember to keep your dog cool. Don’t exercise them in the hottest parts of the day, and watch out for signs of heatstroke.

Read our tips on how to keep your dog cool at www.thekennelclub.org.uk/heatstroke.

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and new year! 🎉

I’m considering discontinuing the perendale range, I could really do with the space and since stocking the new Maori range I feel like this isn’t as popular.

In my personal opinion I think it’s lovely wool and there is minimal VM but the downside is that the colour range is a little limited compared to the Maori wool. The Maori wool I think felts much faster too.

What are your thoughts? Should it stay or go? Stock is also starting to run low so now would be a good time to phase it out. Let me know! 🥰🥰

Chicken Curry Recipe. Curry for dogs? Yes, our best friends can enjoy a curry just as much as we do. This one is obviously a lot less spicy, but it just as tasty. Packed with some super healthy foods such as spinach, ginger, turmeric and Kefir, this is one healthy hot dinner.
Ingredients
One pack raw chicken mince
2 x handfuls of fresh spinach
¼ tsp ginger
1 tsp turmeric
2 grinds of black pepper
¼ tsp cinnamon
125mls of natural yoghurt or non-dairy kefir
1 Cauliflower

How to make
Pop the chicken mince in a non-stick pan and add the spices. Cook until brown. Then add your spinach and cook until wilted. Once everything is combined and cooked through, stir in the natural yoghurt or non-dairy kefir and remove from the heat. Remove the stalks and whizz up the heads of cauliflower in a blender (or grate) until it resembles rice. Add this to a small frying pan with a splash of water and cook for a couple of minutes until softened.
Create a bed of cauliflower rice in your dog’s bowl and top with your chicken curry.

TOP TIP: Please ensure it is cool before serving.

Dogs themselves are often described as dog-friendly, but when we take a closer look at their body language and behaviour, they may be better described as dog-tolerant or dog-selective rather than dog-friendly.
Dog sociability is not a personality trait. As dogs reach maturity, they may become less sociable and tolerant. We know that there are people who we really get along well with and whose company we really enjoy, and we may be considered a sociable person ourselves. This does not mean that we like every single person we meet, and we may not want to spend a long period of time in the company of some people. Our dogs are the same.
Some dogs are dog-tolerant. These dogs have good communication skills and use these during interactions with other dogs. They may play with some dogs and ignore others. Dog-tolerant dogs generally require little input from their caregivers as they can manage their own interactions through good communication skills. Dog-tolerant is a common place for dogs to end up at maturity.

It's well worth sharing this again.

“My dogs are not my children
My dogs are not my furbabies
I am not their mother.
My dogs are my friends. They are my partner and my companions. To treat them like a child, to infantilize them and make it seem as though they need my constant coddling or protection, would be unfair to them.
They are adult carnivores that I have brought into my human world. Because of that it is my responsibility as their owner/breeder:
1) To communicate with them in a way they can understand.
2) To provide leadership, discipline and mutual respect.
3) To understand their instincts and needs, and provide appropriate outlets for them.
4) To train them and provide them the skills to function effectively in our human world, including acceptable manners and behaviors.
Our dogs deserve to be given responsibility and allowed to be adult creatures, not perpetual babies. Please, don't try to make them tiny humans, they aren't and they don't want to be. Dogs are wonderful because they are dogs. Let them be dogs.
Teach them to be good ones.”
