Now, when our guests are due to leave us, we expect excitement and happiness. Ruby, however, took serious umbrage at the end of her holiday; she swished her tail and refused to participate in any further chats! Lovely Layla and Lulu came to catch a few clouds with us and, while Layla sashayed and showed off her very upright tail, Lulu opted for fusses in bed. Is there ever going to be a time when Moses and Diego pose the right way up! Their (almost) permanent view of the world is upside down and sideways on! Ozzie threw in a little rolly silliness, while Ambrose refused to be distracted as he posed very elegantly with blue sky emphasising his handsomeness. Finally, Poppy and Honey had varying views on how holiday time should be spent. Is it an active, do everything time? Or, a “shhhhh I want to snooze holiday”?! Sending you all our love as always xx

Firstly, Bart was very excited to leave us for his new home. Less than 24 hours of him appearing on our FB, he was reserved - lots of cheers! We are in a kitten frenzy at the moment and one of the little families who are staying with us has TWO BABY ALANS! To the real Alan, it’s just like looking in a mirror!! These precious bundles are being fostered by us for Harleys Hounds Animal Rescue. The people at HH are amazing, friendly people and truly deserve all our love for what they do. As well as these bundles of trouble, we also have the most adorable guests holidaying with us. Pebbles, Spencer and Molly came for a warm, sunny holiday and made the most of the lovely sunshine. Meanwhile, further down The Path, Jake was more interested in his catnip squirrel, and who could blame him! Jack and Vera popped in for a super long break – and their aim was to cause as much trouble as possible! They succeeded!! Sending you all our whiskery love xx

Timmy came for a mini-break and, as you can see, relaxed in a relaxed kind of way. The best place to take Coco’s photo is from outside as his way of relaxing is to hiss and spit! Happily, he still has his warning sign, which is placed on full view for all to see! Chatty Lexus, in mid-chat here, always brings a big bag of toys with him for his holiday – and we know exactly which ones are his favourites to play with. While Baloo cuddled his crocodile, Mowgli snuggled down in bed during the super-hot temperatures recently and neighbours Archie and Alfie were very competitive during their game of I-Spy. We don’t know who won, but their attention was soon diverted when it was treat-time. Finally, handsome Treacle loves his holidays and his tail is always up as he gets ready for his cuddles. If you are going to the Ibstock Country Fair tomorrow, we hope you have a lovely time. Our guests will look out for the Spitfire as it flies over their chalet roofs, while we humans “oooooh” and “wow”! That’s us, always ones for the most imaginative and enthusiastic sounds….!! Xx

11/08/2024

Lovely Storm and Rogue spent a lot of their holiday sussing out squirrels – and Alan. Happily, the two weren’t combined (on this occasion!) and the squirrels watched Alan from a safe height! Well, our eyes whirled round in their sockets when another Storm and Rogue came for a holiday at the same time! Seriously, are customers deliberately messing with our minds?! The second Storm and Rogue are smaller – and slightly better behaved…..but we didn’t really say that! Lola popped in for a lounge in the sunshine, while Daisy left us at the end of last month after a sunshine break. We’re not sure where Smokey starts and Fudge ends but if this is how you like to relax, that’s fine by us! Shhhh let sleeping Maddies lie…..! Maddie was one of our 7 one-day-old kittens who came in with their mummy 3 years ago and she’s a little hissy love! Anyway, we’re not mentioning one-day old kittens…! We hope you have had a perfect sunshiney weekend and send you all our love xx

Dusty and Ralph came to stay (fairly!) recently. This pair of lovelies had the best time and were always ready for a fuss. They loved their bedtime as well as their treat time. Buttons and Cleo came to stay and.....we were shocked! In fact, we thought we were dreaming. Buttons was almost the model guest! Very little grumpiness, and hardly any mad partying at night. There was a bit of partying of course, but she usually ransacks the place overnight! Here she is looking demure while Cleo does her usual rolling around in a precarious position! Jessie enjoyed lots of dozing in the sunshine, topping up her gingeryness. As soon as it was time for tea, Jessie was off that sun-deck faster than a fast thing. Cat, Wellington and James came for a summer holiday, where they showed off their beautiful blue eyes; snoozy times and stretches. This little family certainly loved to eat, and meal times were met with immense enthusiasm, to say the least! xx

“Look into my eyes, the eyes, not around the eyes……and you will realise that my tea-time time is right and your tea-time time is very wrong….”! Alan glared through the kitchen window, trying to scare us into feeding him - I mean, seriously, who would have the nerve to ignore that face pressed up against the window!! xx

This evening, we are starting with lovely Pingu. Pingu’s brother went over the Rainbow Bridge earlier this year, so we booked the wildlife to put on an extra show to take his mind off it – it also occupied Cleo in the next chalet! Shadow and Loki had their own holiday places; however, Loki decided to relax in the wrong place which caused all sorts of confusion for an hour or so! We have lots of bird/squirrel activity at the moment, so Bert and Ernie made sure they had front row at watching the goings on and supervised the digging of holes in the lawn..! Harley loves to chat, of that there is no doubt. This little lad chatted and rolled to his heart’s content during his sunny holiday…bless him. Buddy and Phoebe opted for different types of relaxing. Phoebe chatted and went for the active option while Buddy just, well, chilled really. Finally, this is Sugar’s default position so we didn’t even try to persuade her otherwise xx

We cordially invite you to raise a glass and wave a flag for Harry! This poor little chap has been stood up and let down on a frustrating and demoralising scale. However….trumpet sounds…Harry has finally been adopted! And, guess who by?! No, not us……but a fabulous customer! Seriously, who has the best customers in the world? WE DO!! And so, to calmness…! Oscar spent the last day of his holiday lounging in the sunshine, just watching the world go by. Teddy was in super-posing mood and gave us his best look as the camera snapped while his neighbour, Bessie, was more focused on wildlife activities. Claude and Coco relaxed in the shade while their sister Calli opted for her snuggly warm igloo bed on the hottest day of the year so far….don’t ask us, ask her! Belle’s puzzled face shouts “well, my breakfast didn’t last long!” while Simba just peacefully rolled around looking for fuss as she huffed! We send you all our Sunday evening love and wish you a happy week ahead xx

14/07/2024

The bunting is out! Not for the football, but for adorable Olive who has been adopted by one of our amazing customers – we love customers!! Lots of guests came for their holidays recently and we start with beautiful Katie. Katie has been poorly recently so she came for some extra-special love, and a snuggle-down in an igloo bed, while her owner had a few days away. We wish Katie everything lovely and look forward to more fuss and love soon. Milton, Humphrey and Merlin came for their holiday. What a fabulous mixed bunch they are! Although we have super confident; somewhere in-between and very shy, all of these boys enjoyed their holiday in their own way. Finally, Mysti came for a mini-break where she lounged and was pampered. She loved her 3-D view of the garden – and loved her food too! Well, we won’t take up any more of your time as we expect there must be some programme or other on about football, so we send you all our love – and, of course, all our guests are shouting “C’mon England”! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 xx

Kasper and Loki came for a pre-summer break and lots of rolling and “I-Spy……a pigeon” were exciting moments of their day. Of course, treats and meal times came a very close second! Tyson is sitting here, just thinking. The little chap had had his breakfast and was wondering what to do next, before he jumped up onto his scratch tower and happily watched us as we cleaned. Ten-month-old Archie was very excited to take part in “cattery life” and loved to peep round at us as soon as we opened his door. From that moment on, he rolled and played until bed-time. Senior boy, Rocky, was always ready for treats – and even more ready for his breakfast, tea and…..shhhhh…..a secret snack at lunch time! Spink liked to semi-doze on the top bunk, while Oreo stayed on alert on the bottom bunk…..just in case there was anything urgent to report. Well, as school holidays approach we hope that the summer is beginning (again!). Not too hot and not too rainy would suit us nicely! Sending you swishy, whiskery love xx

If Filbert wasn’t hiding under his blanket from the super warm sunshine, he was lounging with his pre-dinner treats…..however, he was like lightning the moment the caton-bleu food arrived! Some of you may remember Maddie who came in on New Year’s Day last year due to extremely sad circumstances. She spent 6 months with us before she found the most perfect home. This little lady now lives the absolute best life – and was very happy to tell us about it! Poppy and Glenda made the most of their scratch tower and even managed to look in the same direction when we said “Dreamiiiiiies”! Taz was up, dressed and ready for breakfast each morning. Some days, she liked to sample different cuisines just to find the exact thing she was hoping for. Eddie – just distracted by a pigeon…..there’s not a lot else we can say!! Finally, Kendo came for her first holiday and was very enthusiastic about everything. She had a lot to say and became very animated at the sight of a squirrel! Sending you lots of love xx

28/06/2024

We don’t think we have ever ranted before - but we’re about to, so hold on to your hats! This is just to give you lovely people an idea of what we, and hundreds of rescues, deal with. As you know, we foster on a small scale for Harleys Hounds and Leicester Cats Protection. The majority of people who view cats do adopt and all goes well - but…..! Some people contact us to arrange to meet the cat and that’s the last we hear. Some do actually turn up and they “love” the cat. The cat is “perfect”. Without doubt, they “want to adopt” the cat. Sometimes, we even get as far as creating and printing off the adoption paperwork before, suddenly, “it’s no longer the cat for me”/“the cat isn’t suitable” - well it was when you came to meet it! Then there can be the occasion when the cat is actually rehomed. Hurrah…..before the poor cat is back within a few hours because someone totally ignores the (VERY) sensible and thorough advice we give them to help the cat adjust to its new surroundings. Therefore, the cat “isn’t anything like it was” when they met it in its familiar safe place with people it knows. These people have no idea how demoralising this is for everyone concerned. These people cause us to be disappointed and angry. And these people waste our time. Sadly, it’s the same story across the country for all animal rescues – only they have it on a far larger scale than we do. Anyway, here is Olive who still hasn’t had any interest, despite being the most loving, cheeky, playful and affectionate cat you could meet…...and breathe! xx

26/06/2024

Lovely Trevor came to spend his holiday with us. He chatted, slept and ate his time away and was always ready for a huge fuss – his shouting always alerted us to Trevor’s “me” time. Arlo and Georgina had the perfect holiday; Georgina relaxed and enjoyed a lounge in the warm air while Arlo made use of all the available activities - their favourite game overnight was trying to get as many toys into their water bowls as possible! Smokey had been determined all morning to disrupt Fudge’s meditation time and we sensed trouble brewing as soon as his cheeky face looked our way…..we weren’t wrong! Finally, Ripley and Dax sauntered in to spend some time with us. This furry twosome love their fusses and play-time – with a few treats thrown in of course! It seems that summer has arrived for now and our guests are very prepared with lots of shade and have cool mats at the ready. Sending you lots of twitchy ears love xx

Climbing to the dizzy height of a pigeon is Nikey. Nikey loved it when the birds clattered about above her head and desperately tried to join them. Cari liked to keep watch on what was going on so she could report back to Darcy – and all Darcy wanted to do was doze in peace and quiet! Coco popped in for a stay and her favourite posing place was in her bed – she didn’t stand still long enough once she was on the move. Meanwhile, Maddie’s view of the bird-feeders was far better if she got out of bed to look out of the window. Nigel’s upside-down view of the world is definitely to be recommended in our opinion – and it certainly made him feel relaxed! Cassie came for her first holiday since losing her brother, but she didn’t seem too worried and loved double the fuss – although not double the food! The sun is finally shining on our guests today after yesterday’s thunder, lightning and torrential downpours. We humans were extremely soggy…..! xx

12/06/2024

A few of our more senior guests popped in for a holiday recently – before all the young ones break up for the summer holidays. Jonah, aged 20 and gorgeous, loved camping out in his sunny run during the day and then pottered back into his warm en-suite chalet for his bedtime dreams. Approaching the grand age of 18 years are lovely Elsa and Teddy, who had a lot to say during their holiday – talk about chatterboxes! Sliding down the age-scale to younger years are Fabio and Mia. Fabio loved his outdoor adventures while Mia preferred the night-life, with day-life spent mostly in bed! Neptune tried a few different exercises during his break, and the birds kept him entertained while he pulled funny faces and swished his super-long tail. Meanwhile, Jack preferred to watch the happenings further up The Path than listen to anything we had to say! xx

We had a bit of language learning recently when Ruby - a Norwegian Forest, and Harmony and Cinnamon – both Egyptian Mau – came to stay. We brushed up on our Norwegian and Egyptian just in case these girls went back to their roots. Happily, we found that they spoke Leicestershire and so we all breathed a sigh of relief! Lola popped in and liked to attempt a roll on a rather small platform and Pepper came for her first holiday. Both girls (related by humans but not each other) had a very relaxing time. Trying something different was Bessie. Bessie is a serious roller but she decided to pose and doze, very nicely, in her scoopy bed thing on her scratch post – that was a lot easier than following her around the run. Claude and Coco came to stay, with their sister Calli – who was feeling shy. No such shyness for these two, who made the most of the facilities on offer. We hope you have been enjoying the intermittent sunshine and we send you lots of warm furry love xx

29/05/2024

For one reason or another, we have got a bit behind with showing off our beautiful guests – so here we go! Max knew how to catch as many bits of sunshine as possible, without his Factor 50, and he didn’t plan to go home with any white bits! Mr Bloo came to see us and soon set himself the task of rolling in front of our feet as often as possible….trip hazard or what! 19-year-old Nala came for her first holiday. Bless this gorgeous little lady, she loved her food and naps – as well as sticking out her tongue at photo-time! Alpo also came for his first holiday with us and bird-watching and fussing were his favourite relaxing holiday memories. Jasmine and Luna were fascinated by the pigeons tap-dancing above their heads - although, this interrupted their introduction to the chalet rules! We thought you would like to see Molly! Molly comes to stay with her brother and sisters and ALWAYS hides under a fleece in daylight hours but, during her recent holiday, she decided to have a few sociable days…..so we made the most of snapping her lovely face xx

We love it when guests make the most of the facilities we offer. Mabel loved her little chair where she could recline and watch the world go by, without making too much effort to turn her head. Jynx popped in for another stay and looks as though she is about to launch off like a mini rocket – happily, she didn’t! Lulu and Layla made the most of the sunshine and kept an eye on who was coming in and who was heading off home, while Nikey came for her first holiday and loved to roll – at any height! George and Jake have separate rooms as Jake likes to make sure senior boy George knows who’s boss! George just took it easy on his scratch post. Finally, senior lady Mysti came for her first holiday and had the excitement of leaving here to go to a new home – not sure how well that’s being received! Lots of sunny love xx

As the weather has been lovely this week, we decided to varnish and repaint the wood and metal on our gates. Obviously, this work needed some serious supervision and who is better placed to make sure everything is tip-top other than Alan! He stayed with us throughout the entire time we painted and was very keen to make sure we hadn’t missed a bit! We have now put Alan in charge of maintenance and any issues are reported directly to him! xx

03/05/2024

Tyson made the most of his sun-deck during his holiday. The sun reflected off his lovely gingeryness as he absorbed warm sunny rays. Bert and Ernie were fascinated by the blackbird singing in the tree outside their run and no amount of finger-waving-tongue-clicking from us could distract them. Tammy and Tommy left us recently and had a very happy time. Tommy loves to sit on our backs as we clean the chalet and Tammy has a hiss to herself – well, it can’t possibly be aimed at us surely….! TJ decided to knead some bread while her photo was taken……look at her little paw flexing away😻. Finally, Sherlock and Watson popped in for a relaxing break and kept an eye out for any shenanigans from the pigeons as they splashed in their bath in the rain. Sending you lots of swishy, soggy-tailed love xx

The only way to fit 7 cats into one photo was to scatter a few treats around and catch them unawares! This gorgeous group flew in from Saudi Arabia to spend a few weeks with us while their daddy built their catio, once he arrived back in Blighty. We could hear them singing inside the transporter as it came down the drive – apparently the driver had had the cats’ chorus all the way up the motorway! They settled in well and some seemed reluctant to leave us. Eddie came in for a few cuddles and chats and Mabel enjoyed some sunshine a few rooms down. Lilly and Biscuit also came to stay and had lots of fuss. Lovely Freddie rolled…..and rolled….in fact, we didn’t get a single photo of him the right way up! Finally, Yin and Yang were caught mid-doze while enjoying the warmth in their run. As always, we send you lots of purry love xx

19/04/2024

Showing dissent at their holiday ending, Eric, Ernie and Tilley put up a bit of a struggle at the dreaded “carrier” time; however, Eric and Ernie were happy to have sleepy faces photographed while Tilley showed only her tail. Jack was relaxing in his mashed potato box when he was alerted to the pigeons causing a huge commotion above his head with their tap-dancing. Louis had a rare moment of stillness which gave us enough time to take his pic, while a few doors up, Ruddles greeted us with the sun on her face which highlighted her little white bits. Looking at Tigger’s photo, you can probably see what we were up against in terms of health and safety for trip hazards! Otis left us earlier this month after his first holiday. He loved to climb on the scratch tower to be the king of the castle, having lots of fuss at the same time. Sending you lots of Friday love xx

We want to say a huge “THANK YOU” to everyone who shared Pepe’s photo. Thanks to YOU, Pepe left his lovely fosterer today and went to his new home. Paws are crossed that he has a lovely future ahead of him. We currently have a few furry faces with us who are looking for cosy new homes, ranging from an excited 3-year-old to a chatty, loving life, 17-year-old, and we can’t wait to introduce them to you soon. So, to our guests - Jessie came for a happy holiday. Being extremely tricky to photograph in the run, we caught her mid-relax in her bed. When Maisie wasn’t sitting in the sunshine, she settled in her wicker basket, patiently waiting for lots of fuss. Storm and Rogue came to stay and while Rogue loved to watch the birds in their bath, Storm posed nicely for her photo – on this one occasion! Finally, Misty had a very active holiday, which involved lots of bird-watching, as well as a fair bit of chatter. We hope you’re having a lovely (rain-less!) weekend and send you lots of whiskery love xx

Sunday mornings are made for breakfast half in and half out of bed. Ted and Elsa found tumbling completely out of bed to eat took far too much effort! Major Tom and Suzie had separate rooms, as usual. Tom messed about with his carpet tile but was too blurry to post, so this is him relaxing instead, while Suzie made the most of the sunshine. Ned and Joe came to stay and while Ned tried to get a bit of a tan, Joe sat by the trees in the shade contemplating life. Toby and Lilly came for a happy holiday. Toby always greeted us enthusiastically, whereas Lilly opted for a snooze in their room. It’s fair to say that all our guests kept a close eye on their watches to check for meal-times (and treat-hours!) to make sure they were poised and ready! Sending you all our love xx

*REHOME – UPDATE* Sweet Pepe is still looking for his forever home, where he will be loved and treated like a little King. We previously posted Pepe as preferring to be the only pet but this may not be the case. According to his fosterer, although Pepe hasn’t actually mixed with them, he hasn’t shown any signs of stress or had any negative reaction when he has ‘met’ the fosterer’s cats. Unfortunately, when cats come in for adoption, the information provided isn’t always accurate so fosterers assess the cat’s behaviour once it has settled in.
Pepe is 5 years old and definitely a lap cat, and just waiting to be loved.
Please email [email protected] to register your interest in Pepe.

Sometimes, curiosity gets the better of all of us and we want to know what is happening over there and who is involved. Gwen is no different; a pigeon in the bird bath, a rogue squirrel scurrying past – all of these things caught Gwen’s attention! Two doors down, Charlie didn’t care. The weekend was upon him so snoozy time was his thing. Ollie and Jinx had a long holiday and while mummy and daddy soaked up the sun, they counted lots of raindrops. Ollie was very chatty and when we popped next door for Eddie’s photo shoot, he continued to chat away in the background! Bertie was a night-owl and loved the evening when it began to get dark; he sat watching the nightlife and waited patiently for after-dinner treats and chat. Lovely Cindy was always ready for a fuss and loved playing with her toys, no matter what time it was! We hope you have had a lovely Easter and that you celebrated the start of summer time. Now the clocks have jumped forward, it’s going to be wall to wall sunshine….! xx

Little Marigold came for another mini-break, during which time she took advantage of her all-inclusive package! Maude was happy – well, sometimes! – as she tucked herself away during the day, then made the most of the evening activities when she thought there was nobody to see her. Lola left us after her holiday. She brought a fair amount of attitude, but we’re used to that so we just let her get it out of her system, bless her! Ruby was in stealth mode as she watched the blackbirds eating their lunch and, when he wasn’t yawning, Ollie reclined in bed waiting for Ruby to give him an update on the situation outside. Finally, Jynx loved to just sit and watch. She watched everything and everyone, no doubt making notes at the same time! We hope you got through Monday without any hiccups and send you all our love xx

19/03/2024

Jack came for a holiday which involved a lot of chatter – and if we didn’t answer him immediately, the chat got louder….and louder! Little Jasmine loves to stand on her hind-legs for a fuss. This time we managed to take her photo just before she launched herself upwards for a huge love. Senior boy Jonah loves his food – when he's on holiday. Unfortunately, his tastes vary quite a lot at home, so he sends his mummy out to the shops (most days!) for something different to whatever he had the day before. Peaceful Aslan loves to sit in the serenity of his fluff calmly watching his neighbours chase around – until meal times when he springs into action at the sight of his food bowl! Finally, Loki and Kasper came for their first ever holiday. Photo time was always hit and miss as they scampered towards us at high speed, long before we had “clicked”! Lots of blurry photos have been deleted! Sending you all our purry love xx

11/03/2024

It was party-time down at Vic and Ziggy’s place on Saturday! Clearly wanting to spend the last night of their holiday in a jolly mood, we were greeted with mayhem the next morning with beds thrown all over the place. Two doors down, Leesha didn’t seem to notice anything untoward and sat patiently waiting for breakfast – and her lift home! Minnie loved her scratch post as it gave her a cover of looking busy, while actually being more interested in what her neighbours were doing across "the road". Toby and Daisy came for another holiday and Daisy, like Minnie, was busy looking to see what was happening on Minnie’s side of the cattery. Meanwhile, Toby was just Toby and relaxed. Last, but not least, Mowgli and Baloo came for their first holiday with us. Warned that Mowgli might be shy, we created little hidey places for him….but the fluffy chap spent all of his time checking out the wildlife. Sending you lots of Monday whiskery love xx
