Tonight I run my final class at Embsay and as Dovemoor.

Never say never, it has been a wonderful adventure but i have other priorities, which includes my family, my own passions, education and my physical and mental health.

I have had some incredible highs and lows while building my business and continuing to grow the community of Dovemoor.

I am grateful to everyone I have met on my journey, some of them are my greatest friends and biggest supporters in my personal life too.

Training your dog is such a unique experience, every dog and handler are different. It is rewarding and yet in the same breath frustrating.

My words of wisdom for all aspects of life but particularly when owning and training a dog.

“Opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one and they are usually full of sh!t.”

We are going to take a break from tomorrow with our account for a few weeks. You can still contact Becca on WhatsApp 07999483142 for our social walks and limited 1:1 training in Addingham and Ilkley.

Dovemoor has been a splendid adventure 😍

It’s not until I’ve sat here, unpublishing websites and changing settings on socials that I’ve really reflected on the journey it’s taken me on.

I am so proud of what I have built over the last 8 years, I am so grateful for those that have supported me and grateful for those that have taught me lessons along the way.

I have met some amazing people and am still friends with many of them. I have had the experience of hundreds of dogs, owners, problems and successes.

Continuous adaptations to the business have kept things exciting but also relevant to my families needs and the growth in pet gundog ownership.

I have trained hard, been mentored, educated and humbled along the way.
My little business grew, it tested me, my marriage and family life. I have had highs and many lows, worked through imposter syndrome, put myself out of my comfort zone and stuck to my niche.

It’s now come time for me to take a break from Dovemoor, this last 2 years has been really tough on my mental health, especially after loosing Dottie.
Running a business is hard, it’s draining, mentally and physically.

I love working with people, I love building confidence and watching handlers grow. It’s why I began educating myself more in the other end of the lead, the human end and I’m looking forward to what that brings to my future.

Although I will still be running a few 1:1 sessions, social walks and training walks for a while, my focus is my continued education and getting to spend time with my wonderful family, friends and my dogs.

Our Instagram page is staying and our page too. You can contact me on WhatsApp messages 07999483142 or follow our Channel (Dovemoor) on there for more info.

To all the wonderful people I have met through dogs, thank you! Thank you for your support ❤️ What a wonderful community we have built in Dovemoor. One I am so proud to be a part of ❤️

Tuesday Club had us up at the reservoir. Retrieves near the water but not in it. Retrieves into the water and tips in getting delivery to hand, post delivery shake off. Waiting your turn, retrieves into the long rough parts after a water retrieve.
Ignoring geese while going out for a retrieve. Waiting until you’re sent.

We had a great time other than being eaten to death by midge’s 🫣😵 I still feel itchy.

Thank you handlers.

Catching up on some jobs at the field and training with the girls.

Good outcomes - Delta flashed a rabbit under my feet and stopped, as did the other two and then they kept at heel as we moved on 😍

Needs work- increasing distance of memories with Elsie, Delta directions, Elsie directions and Aggie to just chill when it’s not her turn 🙄 shuffle bum!

In dog training there is always something to be working on.
What do you have to work on this week?

My message was a little cryptic the other day and my apologies.
Just to clear some things up, Dovemoor has such a fabulous community of handlers and dogs and it has brought me so much joy to be able to mentor and champion them but I am now prioritising new challanges and that means reducing Dovemoor.

I have been training in therapy and counselling for the other end of the lead, and that education journey will be continuing for another few years. While that happens I will be running some dog training services but on a minimal basis.
I will no longer run classes unless as collaboration training with others or special group events. (Last class is July 16th)

I will be running some 1:1 training sessions (including ECollar conditioning and confidence walks) while continuing our super popular social walks in small groups and Training walks for pet gundogs. These services will be on restricted availability, you will be able to keep an eye out for dates on our WhatsApp channel!

I will be closing the website down and reducing social media as I continue my exploration of self and education into therapy and mental ill health.

Please bear with me as these changes occur and a huge thank you to everyone for your support in growing Dovemoor with me.

If you want to book for any services or have any questions please drop me a WhatsApp on 07999483142
Our diary is still closed until June 24th where we will reopen for new clients and bookings.

Thanks Becca

You asked, we delivered! 🗣🫴

Seeing as our Foundation Agility class was so popular we decided to put another date up.

This course isn't about simply luring over equipment, it works on the mechanics needed to build up to using equipment. Creating engagement between you and your dog so running sequences in the future will be possible without your dog running off. Our foundation course is great for building your dog’s confidence so they feel comfortable working independently from you and have the skills to do so safely.

📆 Class Schedule: Monday 1st July, running for eight weeks
📍 Location: Addingham Moorside
⏰ Time: 4-4.45pm
🐶 Limited Spots Available! Grab Yours Today! 🐶

We had a lovely stay a couple of weeks ago. A much needed break, we just took Elsie with us.
This beautiful lodge is dog friendly, is so well kept, modern and the outdoor bathtub is bliss (I am not a hot tub gal at all, this was so much better!)

Anyone looking for a mini break needs to check this place out. We tripped out lots to the coast, to local villages and loved wondering the park it’s on too.

There are lots of ducks, geese and moorhen that like to come up and say hello, Elsie was a star 😍 and got to practice lots of steadiness and good manners.

Thank you for a brilliant stay! 😍

ANNOUNCEMENT-

What a wonderful adventure.

Now has come the time for me to continue to explore my new career path with further education and adventure.
Dovemoor has been an incredible achievement and one I am so proud of. I adore the community spirit we have evolved and will take that into the future with me, as I hope many others do.

I have in recent months cut back the services I offer and this will reduce further by July. I am not quite ready to say goodbye to dog training fully so I will continue to offer our social walks and training/ coaching opportunities to clients on a 1:1 or small group basis. These have always been a huge success for clients and dogs and have been the basis of Dovemoor from the start.

You can still follow the journey of our own dogs here, we also have WhatsApp and our private Facebook group for existing clients.

Thank you for your continued support ❤️

I will post available sessions for training/ socials on our WhatsApp channel each month, which you can follow by finding Dovemoor.

You can contact me for training via WhatsApp on 07999483142

Bog dog…

Elsie had a break away with my husband and I last week. She had solo dog life, we built her confidence in lots of places and travelling, heaps of socialisation opportunities and more.
We did some training in different places but nothing too formal in the way of retrieves etc.

Today I took her out exploring a different place with the spanner.
Elsie has had her first season and has seriously grown in confidence and testing boundaries. Like a typical adolescent. She tested a few boundaries on our walk today and I know I have to nip these things in the bud now through management, rather than letting them become habits.

Her new found confidence, hormones and maturity are all to play and it’s my job to look at all of this and create a training plan that will work for us, I will also look at daily life at home and reflect on what things the human end of the lead has got wrong and rectify them. Creating a clearer picture for her and me.

Luckily we have our weekly formal training session tonight where I can look at what is going to work for both ends of the lead in our training.

She hasn’t been a bad dog, though I could have taken it that way and put the blame onto her.
Instead, I’ve acknowledged what went wrong, will make changes and through continued reflection we will make progression together.
