Our team are forever thankful for reviews like this, which the owner wanted us to share with you all. Along with some beautiful pictures.

Words cannot express how grateful we are for 'literally' saving our precious boys life. As a rescue dog we have no real idea how old Barney is, but he has been with us for 14 years and he was approx. 6-8 months old when we got him, so he's likely in his 15th year. During all these years he has received expert veterinary care from Minster vets, primarily from Joyce, but Ross and others along the way, and most recently locum vet Yantha and a fantastic team of support staff. Apart from the odd tummy bug Barney has been generally well all his life until this year. In February he was suffering with 'something' that turned out to be a gum infection resulting in surgery to remove 2 teeth. We thought that was it, problem solved, but although he bounced back from that surgery he was never really himself again. Fast forward 2 months and he was clearly very unwell again. After a check up a scan was recommended, which showed a mass on his spleen. Emergency surgery took place that day removing his spleen and not one but two tumours. That sugery most definitely saved his life, but at his age would he bounce back again and what would be the results of the biopsy? Well not only has he bounced back, it's like we have our old dog back; full of energey and enjoying life to the full (he's an od boy, but he isn't acting like it). And the best news we could have received came in the form of the test results, showing the tumours were benign - so Barney lives to fight another day and every single day is a joyous bonus for us. We have no doubt that the swift action and the expert care that Barney received most definitely saved his life and we cannot thank 'everyone' at Minster Vets enough. The vets, the nurses, the front of house and all support staff went out of their way to save our boy and to help us cope with the process. Along the way we think Barney stole a few hearts and now seems to be somewhat of a celebrity when we visit - he is our little miracle dog. To everyone at Minster vets, we will be eternally grateful and from the bottom of our hearts we thank you. With love and much appreciation, Elaine & Kevin.

Every year during the month of May, the Veterinary Profession celebrates Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month (VNAM), proudly spearheaded by the BVNA.

In 2024, we celebrate 20 years since the campaign began- from its early beginnings as Veterinary Nursing Awareness Day from 2004, and since 2012 we’ve been campaigning for the whole month.

This year, the campaign theme is ‘Progression’- with the aim of highlighting the diverse range of skills, abilities and career pathways of Veterinary Nurses.

We would like to thank our amazing team of Veterinary Nurses here at Minster Veterinary Surgery, for all your hard work and dedication to the care and compassion to all of our lovely clients, their pets and the whole Minster team. Enjoy your special month.
