When it started to get rather competitive…. 😂🥰
Learning the horseball skills!
After a busy morning of hard work and study, the campers were delighted to spend the afternoon playing loads of gymkhana games. From bending races to ride and run to Drakes Farms popular own invention “forest fire” the ponies and riders had an absolute ball!! Apologies to anyone in the village who may have been disturbed by the cheering 😂😂😂
New jump challenge - remove your hat silk whilst riding down the grid… for extra points put it back on before you stop! Well done Annie and Carrie 🤩. We had so much fun riding this, there was a lot of laughter (and some squealing… 😂)
Summer is finally here!!!! Mollie and Cleo brave the big step out of the bank complex in the newly open XC paddock. Well done team!
Challenging the stage2 Jump riders this week - showing that you don’t have to jump big jumps to make your riders really work and think about what they are doing. Curving lines, angled fences, tight turns and unusual jumps make the riders focus on their lines, their rhythm and the quality of their canter. The actual jump is the easy bit! #ridingschoollife #linetothefence #stage2wedontmessabout
Today we used an exercise where we collected our trot before asking for canter. As well as balancing our horses back onto their hindquarters, leading to an easier transition, this also helps our riders to maintain a stable contact through their hands as they move into canter. As you can see they were able to keep an lovely frame in their horses through this exercise. In the third video, Marcia rides her own horse who can be a little lazy, this exercise helps him to offer canter much more willingly! Well done guys!! #ridingschoollife #dressagegoals
There were a few things we were worried about on an icy cold Saturday morning - slips and falls, frozen water troughs, risk of colics… but the tack room key breaking thus leaving us without access to ANY riding school tack wasn’t on our list 😱😱😱
There followed a mad rush of hastily tacked up working liveries, borrowed tack from kind staff and mad pony swap rounds…
But what was I to do teaching this motley collection of random ponies and riders??? Backward somersaults of course!!!!
Love my Saturday am riders - always up for anything 😂😂😂
Whilst our lovely instructor Vikki was enjoying a well deserved week off, the 7pm thursday ladies were stuck with me 😂🤦♀️🙈 - so we entertained ourselves creating this beautiful drill ride.
Well Ridden Ladies - what a fab routine! #ridingschoollife #organisedchaos #somuchlaughter
That winning jump - Harry and Missie. (Best with sound)
